Best Nutsedge weed killer/Control for your lawn. It is very important that we buy good weed control such as nutsedge. Nutsedge weeds can look bad on any lawn and There are many nutsedge products on the market and it is very confusing which one to buy sometimes. I will be comparing this two products Sedgehammer vs Ortho Nutsedge Killer side by side in this video. The real question is which one keeps it from returning for longer? Sulfentrazone may burn the top quicker but if its not getting into the root I'd rather wait a few extra days if sedgehammer gets the roots and nut.

I have never tried other products than Sedgehammer. Having had a difficult time with sedge coming up in my side yard a couple of years ago, I sprayed once and all of it was gone. This was a fairly large area. I usually don't have to wait seven days to see the difference. That may be due to more extreme heat. Now I occasionally have a few flair ups in my flower beds, so I started using it for spot spraying. One thing not mentioned here is that once mixed it must be used within a day. When spot spraying this seems wasteful. On a good note, when having leftover mix, I sprayed both neighbors lawns that had large areas of sedge and both are now clear of the nasty grass.

Tenacity will work too. Just need to make sure the amount is right or it will burn the lawn.

Sulfentrazone is in Dismiss and Solitare, not Sedgehammer which is halosulfuron. The packet is supposed to have surfactant, but the bottle does not. However, adding extra surfactant wouldn't hurt.

Does nutsedge come back or not.? Also the nut dies?

Burns off the tops. These do not actually kill it once and for all so it will be back as sure as sunset and sunrise, it will return.

Ortho is a true Nutsedge killer mine fell over in two days and died.

Ortho sedge killer is waaay cheaper than sedgehammer or Dismiss. Same active ingredient as Dismiss herbicide at a MUCH lower price.

You forgot to add the non-ionic surfactant (aka dish soap) to the sedgehammer.

It may not have been on the label. However, all of those commercial herbicides require you to add a surfactant. Almost all anyway.

The sulfentrazone specifically states to NOT use any surfactant.

the Ortho will give you more knock down power. if you read studies the active ingredient in that will reduce you sedge population over 90% in 2 seasons. sedhammer won't give you that. the ortho also give you a good spectrum on broadleafs. so it will cover more then just sedge. I recommend a bottel of dissmiss for that yard. you have a bad sedge problem and it's not going away any time soon. please read up on how sedge spreads it seeds and you will understand why dissmiss will save you lawn.
