Stages of Dr. Grilfriend 1: Whoa that's an odd voice on a woman. jarring 2: alright I'm used to it, it's just her 3: ok this is kinda hot 4: why is dr. mrs. the monarch so hot?
@@clownworld4655 I mean she's just a super heavy smoker, I've heard women who sound like her before, though maybe not quite as deep since she is voiced by a man.
I thought it was very accurately animated when she came into the bedroom as rocky, confused about her costume but intent on making her mans fantasy work... then instantly self conscious and covering herself up when he criticized it.
Technically Sheila and Malcoms relationship is the healthiest in the entire series. Which is why I love them so much, because there is trust and love there. Also technically her name is Shiela Fitzcarraldo.
The best part I think in the story of Mrs. the monarch is how she dresses sexy for the monarch of her own free will especially when you contrast her costumes before her marriage. As a solo villain, lady Au Pair her outfit is very drab with little sex appeal and she makes clear she doesn't want her sexuality to be at the forefront of her identity, With phantom limb's N2 as queen etheria, which is hyper sexualized and the identity is forced upon her by him, then as the monarchs girlfriend, the pink dress, which other than the skirt isn't very sexualized at all, to finally as the monarchs wife, which is sexualized but it was designed by her to celebrate their marriage. I love that they showcase how much better the monarch is as a lover through how he doesn't treat her like a sex object or try to be overly controlling.
@@MrMobiusfan I think they mean Lt. Baldovich, actually. Brock was willing to do her even if she had butterface, which makes his excuse for Dr. Girlfriend a lil weak
Ok i havent seen much of venture bros but was that supposed to be a reference to that one batman comic? The old one when he wore a rainbow suit to distract the villain guy with the big penny?
I love that when the show was just starting the voice was kind of just the gag, and thus didn't have a ton of effort put into it. Compare it to later seasons and you'll see that *oomf* kick into it where the voice is no longer itself a gag and is just HER voice, which is great. It's why we all love it.
Except it isn't a gag, she is based on Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, JFK's wife. She was well known for having a deep voice, and Dr. Girlfriend's (in the earlier seasons before they finally wed) pink skirt and pill hat is the exact outfit Jacqueline was wearing on the day JFK was shot.
She's my fav & her and The monarch are really the best couple. He made her his equal, he really loves her as well. She could honestly be the best villain in the world and I would gladly be her henchwoman. As a kid I didn't even realise her voice was meant to be odd, since my voice was freaking deep as heck, I thought my voice would just become like hers.
Aw. That's really sweet. Either The Monarch or Byron Orpheus are the funniest characters to me, but Dr.Mrs.The Monarch is my favorite one. I kinda had the opposite thing goin' on: Half the time mine was pretty feminine and I didn't like it. Then I transitioned.
I really like how she's willing to get "taken advantage of" from Brock and then feel really insulted when he never had the thought of ever doing so. I love them both.
You know, that scene where she and the Monarch bond over the framed butterfly that was probably his adopted butterfly mother was rather sweet. I wonder what it would be like if the butterfly was alive.
It's honestly pretty funny how at the start her voice is like a joke about how unattractive it is paired with her physical sexyness but she loops back to just plain sexy when we get used to it. This really goes to show how good this series is at developing it's characters.
The monarch: THIS IS HORRIBLE! UNEXCETTABLE! 21,PUT D&D IN THE" LIST OF THE DESPICABLE PEOPLE I HAVE TO ARCH"! AFTER DOCTOR. VENTURE, THEY WILL BE THE NEXT ONES!!
She actually got hotter as the series went on, once she showed how capable she is and how she always has The Monarchs back, strong, intelligent, badass, and caring for her man, she’s the ideal woman deep ass voice n all lol
8:10 this whole scene is very sweet. Reminds of the title people have for their wives "my better half". Someone to pick you up when you're down, and constantly encourage you. That's one of the reasons this relationship works. It's wholesome, even though it's an adult swim show.
Sheila is actually pretty similar to Harley Quinn. She slept her way through college, is an agile and capable fighter and dating a villain who's obsessed with their enemy. Sheila also has everything Harley wishes she have. Sheila has a healthy and functioning relationship with her villain lover, is a pretty brilliant strategist, is sane, has a moral compass and is a respected and feared leader of a villain organisation.
The only success they both share are the PHD's, thats the Dr in Dr girlfriend, but in different fields. Arguably Dr girlfriend didn't just sleep through college either as she has demonstrated the actual knowledge expected of someone with several PHDs.
@@blakeswanson1322 It changes depending on the canon. Personally, I've always hated that interpretation of the character, as it implies that the writers couldn't think of a reason for Harley to have a PhD other than by fucking her way through school. The Harley Quinn cartoon does a great job of handling her character, and it also has a lot in common with Venture Bros.
i never heard this "sleep thru college" origin story for Harley, if anything the story i know is kinda the reverse she was incredibly talented and a overachiever, getting a scholarship thru gymnastics. all to get away from her dysfunctional family. and that was what eventually broke her with a push from the Joker
Saying they slept their way through college awfully insulting to harley quinn and Sheila given they’re both very intelligent. Plus shiela wasn’t exactly taken advantage of by the monarch and she’s not seen as his sidekick. The monarch would never choose Doc over Sheila
Even tho shes killed people and is in a villain organization, I never once saw her as an evil person or even a bad person. She's cool and she's a fucking scientist, she could use it to save lives or help people and she even took part of reversing mutants conditions.
My favorite recurring joke in this show is people saying "you get used to it" regarding her voice; because it's hilariously true- watch the show for a season or so and you stop noticing it as unusual pretty quickly, to the point where a character reacts to it and you go "oh yeah!"
Venture Bros: "We're going to make a super sexy female character...but she has a super deep voice. Lol, isn't that funny? 😆" Fans (me): "Joke's on you, I'm into that shit"
She is hot and her voice weirdly only makes her even hotter. Dunno why, it just fits her somehow. Me being Bi might be a factor but i'm not really sure about that
The original and only one true ride or die in cartoons. Dr girlfriend didn't give 2 shts about how badly the monarch failed, she was always there for him
I never gave her voice a second thought the moment in saw her. Like i automatically thought she was just a smoker. The moment they showed her I was like “ Icon!!!!!”
Fun fact: Trina Orpheus 1:12 (though she isn't speaking in this scene) is voiced by Lisa Hammer, Doc Hammers ex wife. They were in a couple of popular goth bands together, mainly Requiem In White and Mors Syphilitica.
Dr. Mrs. The Monarch is the most badass woman in the show while maintaining a balance of being the perfect woman every guy dreams of. While some might be offput by the voice, tons of people most likely crushed on her for a while even after her wedding with The Monarch.
I echo what everyone else is saying; it was a ha-ha joke, it grew on us, and we all came to love her eventually. But I'll go one step further and admit that I'd probably sport a chub if Doc Hammer ever called me on the phone to talk.
They have possibly the most normal runs in that opening bit. I know everyone else has already said it, but it is interesting how as you watch the show, her voice becomes just kind of normal. If I met her in real life I wouldn't even question it.
I dunno, that Game of Thrones bedroom scene is even fucking funnier in hindsight. As someone who watched it religiously, she was a million percent right tho.
For what its worth, to deans "are you my mommy question" id argue she was the most consistent female presence in the boys lives so she was the closest they came
I wish Kim did take up the idea of becoming a villain. It would of been cool to see her as like a top henchman for another villain or show a low level scientist because Kim would only have been level one villain during the show.
One of the things I think about her voice is not just us getting used to it, I believe they got better at doing it as time went on too and great line delivery can make most voices sexier.
