The guy that said no one would want to buy Katya's product is clearly out of touch with the extreme amount anxiety the majority of millenials and gen z deal with
He was so rude when I heard her idea I was like ok thats so on-brand for Katya and he just shat on it for no reason I'm glad she stuck with the idea and slayed it.
26:32 The fact that Katya totally ignored the advice she was given, believed in her idea and pulled it off and won the challenge is the perfect showcase of Katyas genius mind.
I was gonna say, wtf is this tiny dude going on about? Her selling points are so relatable to pretty much every person on the planet. Unlike his face. He makes penguins look smart.
His advice doesn't even make sense. There's SO many products out there that are literally selling a "feeling", especially anti anxiety ones. I am endlessly bombarded with ads saying "this drink/patch/candy/spray will finally fix you " 😅
Actually she got about 4,000$ per episode if i remember correctly....same with every other queen. I think. I cant remember the exact amount they get paid per episode they appear in.
Seeing katya cry about how she feels like she’s unwanted and her not even having a clue that she would become one of the most adored queens of all time makes me so sad and happy at the same time
That’s so cute. I love how we were able to see her growth and self love transformation between the seasons. We went from katya saying she didn’t know how to love herself to katya being confident and proudly stating how she’s a star. Also, thank you for the translation.
Pretty sure that even my house plants are attracted to her. I’m 90/10 man/woman preference and I’d let Katya do whatever she wants to me in or out of drag. She is everyone’s type, don’t worry 😂
@@ekaterina_shum Detox has readily admitted, multiple times, that she truly shouldn't have done that. Her feelings though, caught her in the moment, and she screwed up. She regrets it. (Edited for spelling/grammar)
Katya's relationship with her mother is seriously one of the sweetest things. You can tell Katya absolutely adores her and her mother loves how kooky, hilarious, and creative she is.
I never understood that guy! Isn’t 99% of marketing like selling a feeling?? Just look at perfumes! it’s just selling a fantasy. I think Katya nailed the challenge brief!
@@co0kii I believe the trick was, since Ru knows Katya's insecurities, to test her. So he instructed the MKT guy to say that so Katya would reinsure herself and go through with her original plan (cos it was awesome).
I think Katya could’ve benefited from doing vitamin supplements instead of a spray cause that’s more tangible; but then again, she’d dominate ANYTHING, regardless
That's why I hate the marketing challenges, because they act like you have to pitch a real fucking product. It's drag race, you can suspend your disbelief
It’s so crazy but painful to me that someone like Katya could say “I have never actually loved myself” yet thousands of us genuinely love her beyond belief. She is so unbelievably strong
Well, we see her when she's putting on a performance and highlighting the best parts of herself. She lives with herself in the off-time. I'm sure she's made plenty of decisions she regrets, and she knows her own flaws better than anyone. Don't we all?
@@lososlososevich ну Вы меня за дурочку-то не держите) Конечно же он не русский, именно поэтому то, как он произнес это слово, так круто звучит, чувак тащит.
I'm so glad they included that talk with Miss Fame that they had about addiction. That was the exact moment I first fell in love with Katya and I never forgot it to this day even though it's been years since I watched that season.
That part. I knew Fame through shared sober social circles here in NYC but having a very meth-centric story myself seeing Katya/Brian being so open and raw made me feel seen and not alone at one of my lowest moments. This was so beautiful.
That moment with Miss Fame was one of the loveliest things captured between contestants in the show. Fame was so accepting and just there for Katya, and Katya just opened up and was honest and they both helped one another.
"I'd love it if you talked to me." Like I have some pretty terrible anxiety and I didn't realize until Miss Fame said it, how calming that was to hear. If I needed to come to someone for advice that's exactly how I would want them to talk to me.
That tango was truly incredible, especially for two people with little to no experience of it Also, Katya being dressed as Björk for the mini challenge then impersonating her on All stars is so perfect
When she said she calls her anxiety Brenda and tells her to shut the f... up.... I literally use that trick till today and it has been working. Except I call mine becky.
It's interesting how they edited Katya's recording session as if she was doing poorly when her section of Read U Wrote U is one of the most iconic and remembered solo moments of any performance on RPDR.
The rollercoaster of emotions on that final speech, the way she ballances silly Katya jokes with a emotional kick, how she starts with the character and shows her true voice is beyond genius, it's an artist in it's best shape.
I thought for sure after that speech she would win, and I went into that season of all stars already knowing who won. That would've been such a great and rewarding moment for not only Katya, but also for all the fans that were rooting for her. And can I just say that Katya's final outfit was beautiful??? She looked like a golden cupcake princess and I fucking loved it.
I think one of the reasons I'm so drawn to Katya, is that despite anxiety and depression and multiple addictions she manages to be amazing person, great drag queen and manages to shine so bright. She's an inspiration for me. At the end of All Stars 2, when Ru asked why each queen deserves the crown, Katya said something in Russian, it translates as "I'm the star, forever" and she is right, she's the star.
That moment where Katya was so vulnerable and honest with Miss Fame was beautiful. The thing about Katy’s is there is no artifice with her. She is playing a character but she’s so real and shows her heart. She’s so unique too. Brian is so talented!
This was my favorite I rewatch this just to see katya say this at the very end everytime its very inspirational seeing somone with the same mental imperfections as you go on and do something as stressful as drag and slay at it. Truly forever a Star in my night sky.
No lie... as a crystal meth addict currently in recovery her honesty about her own struggles were a key factor in my being able to recover from relapse. I LOVE the drag but I will always be in debt to Brian for sharing his struggle with us.
She is for sure a favourite for a reason. So effortlessly funny, quirky, random but so lovable and charming. She has an unique tipe of personality that everybody loves and enjoys. And her confessionals, runways comments and untucked moments are hilarious. She is a STAR.
@@reneemeunier-depastino4044 I met her. We had a debate about the necessity of dentistry because she said I had good teeth and having a job. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
For real. Even if they don't consider each other best friends cause they don't believe in that concept, they really were meant to meet each other and be I'm each other's lives
@@M1NightHawkhow did she not deserve to win? She had the best track record by far. I love Katya just like everyone else but she’ll tell you herself she wasn’t robbed.
@@christianammons8441 Because that entire season's storyline and everything was about her, you can tell they decided the winner from the very beginning, even from the queens they chose
@@Justin-ql9cl you misspelled excellent tv. That’s what it’s all about in the end. Regardless, the right person won. Katya is doing just fine without a crown
WHERE is Katya’s acceptance speech from the despy awards?! “I think it was the great American painter Bob Ross who said ‘The key to a swollen vagina is... courage’” A genius speech!
I can’t imagine being in this in sobriety omg. I was SO proud when she pulled Fame aside knowing she was sober too when she needed that instead of spiraling. Inspiring ❤️
I think both are loved for different reasons and shouldn't be compared since they aren't the same people. I love both Katya and Bianca for different reasons and it's fine to have an all time favorite, but don't try to put down a queen because you feel like the one you like is better. Also I would like to add that Bianca is loved for who she is and what she does, the same applies to Katya and they are also different.
I’ve been sober for almost 4 years from Meth BUT the fact that Katya was only a year and a half sober from that and out herself into all of this and didn’t relapse during drag race is just so amazing and powerful ~ I love her so much
I can't imagine. I've was addicted to H for several years, and I've been clean since March 2014, and I still could never imagine attempting something that requires this amount of bravery, confidence, forethought, and planning. Based on her and Trixie's show, I get the impression that their doing OK with their mental health and I genuinely hope that's the case. Quitting drugs for the long run is hard and I'm proud of anyone whose been able to do it. But I feel like there's very little discussion about life after you get sober, mental health and the loneliness associated with a life of soberity.
@@sofilafihey sister, saw that the other commenter didn’t respond and as someone who is 8 years sober from H, if you ever want to chat I’m more than happy to!
I'm so used to seeing her with Trixie that watching her shine like the rare and blinding jewel that she actually in these competitions is both breath taking and a breath of fresh air.
No truer words were told. I love Alaska but watchig AS2 I felt she relied more on the game than her talent. Its a letdown to be honest she has a lot of talent but Katya shone more.
she actually talked about it on the Pandora Boxx show. She said she was never robbed as she never had the 100,000 and it was taken away. I like her theory on that.
I really think she does not get enough credit for her lipsync skills and her MAKEUP. The emotion she conveys in the Twist of Fate lipsync is phenomenal.
I've unfortunately never watched the show. But Katya is more recently a favourite person of mine, now. After seeing all of this it's surprising to hear she didn't win. :c
@@wellingtoncamelo8466 Alaska's track record was pretty much spotless (except for that one thingy on Family That Drags Together) but that shouldn't be the only thing to be considered, I don't think. It feels like Alaska was set up to win, while otherwise it would've been a fierce battle between Detox and Katya. If I remember it correctly, Katya had more challenge wins and Detox more runway "wins", so yeah. A third would've been Tatianna, had she not been set up to lose. AS2 was entirely built around Alaska.
I partially disagree! She's flawed, and sometimes her jokes are dark because of her addiction/struggles. And that's why I love her. Despite everything, she finds humour, love and a lesson. She's vulnerable, yet she manages no maintain a certain level of privacy (that everyone needs and deserves). Truly admirable.
@Rain Schuman-Cook when are y’all going to realize that Gen z is not just one person and it didn’t create dark humor or addiction or mental health problems
You know you’re funny when you can make the producers laugh during your confessionals. “I can’t say that either?” That means she said something worse than that 😂
I think season 7 has a great cast they didn't utilize them well enough. I also think that some of those queens weren't at their highest potential. I also would add Violet to the list of the amazing cast in season 7. Now it's not my favorite season but it has my favorite queens after drag race
I love how that one guy was like “lose the bottle and the idea and start over, sorry” and she still went with it and KILLED IT. That guy was dumb, Katya had it down pat product, brand, and selling point 💫
the difference between season seven and all stars is so crazy. just the whole energy is incredibly different - i love how she redeemed herself. omg i love her so much its unhealthy. my angel.
katya may be a safe and basic favorite because of UNHhhh, but she proved and showed us all on her seasons how strong, kind, fierce, and amazing she is. Her humor comes through in everything she does, but her heart comes through as well. her confessionals always made you laugh and smile and her sense of style is quirky and adorable. Honestly, if there was ever a queen deserving of a “best of” list, it’s Katya. She is, and will always be, the bright red scare with the long blonde hair.
Katya did rpdr (seasson 7) and only after that came UNHhhhh. She was really a favorite long before all the success of UNHhhh and with her on AS2 the favorites just grew more and more.
I see some people saying katya is a “basic” favourite and it doesn’t make any sense to me. She’s so commonly favourite because she is just fucking GOOD and lovable. If you like acid betty or phi phi ohara good for you but it doesn’t make you any better or cooler. Come on, you can allow yourself to be like other girls and like likeable things :)))
I don't know where I found it, but that last bit where Katya speaks Russian actually means "I am a star, forever. Thank you so much." And I will never not cry because her journey has been so beautiful.
That is so beautiful! And somehow I kind of love that she kept the actual translation to herself when RuPaul asked for it. Katya is forever my queen of AS2. In my mind, she won. ♥️
Yes exactly. She said “Я звезда навсегда. Спасибо большое” [ja zvegdà, navsegdà. Spasiba balshoi], which means “I’m a star, forever. Thank you very much”, that calques “you will always be an All Stars” said by RuPaul in each episode.
I'll never understand how she lost out doing Cherry Bomb. She was fucking perfect. I also don't understand why they didn't show it, maybe she didn't win it, but it was up there with her best.
The moment Fame sat down and soothed Katya was the moment I fell in love with her. Kurtis is an amazing man and I'd love to bask in his warmth and sweetness.
It had a great cast but the production was so weak. It had a lot of acting challenges when it's remembered for being the runway season, Pearl and Max were mistreated, Kasha Davis was forgotten and Kennedy (and I think Jasmine too) received so much hate.
