I believe that as long as you have more than enough ammo for the gun you’re shooting any gun can be fun to shoot with! (Especially .22) whole lot of fun to shoot which used to be cheap pre-covid... now kinda getting expensive but still cheaper than shooting other calibers
I haven’t shot an RPR but it looks fun. I watched a kid shoot one at an NRL 22 shoot. He did ok for a pre-teen. I have built a ton of 10/22’s. They are way fun when shooting pop cans, clay pigeons, eggs, etc… at about 50 yards or so. I also hunt jack rabbits with them with iron sights on the run. The first thing I do is change out the trigger. Anyway, when I am out hunting ground squirrels and other varmint, I always choose a bolt action. Good video.
I had a RPR but sold it. I didn't like how the stock adjusted and that the stock couldn't fold up along side the gun. Thing sure could shoot but no better than my custom 10/22's. Was nice it came with a high cap magazine. For the price it was a decent rifle. I still prefer the cz452 series best for bolts though. Sadly they went and changed the 452 and no longer use threaded barrels at the receiver junction end no more. I also liked it came prethreaded at other end on RPR. In the end a 7/10 gun. Not bad nor great. My 2c. I am kinda biased as I own some higher end guns, but I do love all Rugers.
Your's is the 2nd review that stated it has a 16 inch barrel but everything I find documented on it states only 18" barrels are included. You may get better groupings with some of the Eley, SK and Lapua match grade ammo as stated by other owners.
Eley, RWS, Lapua, CCI and Wolf for me in all 22lr's. One of those will always be tops. 20+ guns and always those are the top. One or other of them anyway.
They don't make em from Ruger or aftermarket but a good gunsmith can make the change to one, for a bunch of coin. For the cost you may as well buy a better gun that has it already which is why I sold my RPR. Would be nice if it came folding like the bigger centerfires do.
