Mr. Rhee, I loooooooved your Best of the Best movies, especially the first episode! It's sad that you no longer make any movies...you AND your brother, Simon Rhee, are amazing martial artists! Hope to see you on the movie screen again!
There should've been a Best of the Best 5, Phillip Rhee is badass! He's the reason I took martial arts training back in the day and eventually got my black belt 💪
They should reunite Eric Roberts , Simon Rhee & Phillip Rhee in a Best of the Best 5 . It would be cool to have Da hun , Tommy & Alex kicking the Shit out of bad guys together again.
I love Phillip Rhee since the first part. He has great style personal and in fights, and he often reminds me more of Bruce Lee. There were many idiots trying to imitate Bruce, but Phillip Rhee even though he has a little modern kind of Bruce Lee style, it's very entertaining and as beautiful to watch as Bruce Lee, because he has passion for it!
he studied tae kwan do him and his brother who was in first film with eye patch his brother is a true legendary champion . Simon Rhee is a 7th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 4th Degree Black Belt in Hap Ki Do. He is a World-Class Martial Artist known for his beautiful kicks and incredible forms, and is a many-time Grand Champion of the tournament circuit.
My instructor Grand Master Jae Hong Kim knows both Phillip and Simon... I walked into my instructors office one DAY and my Master was on the phone with Phillip and he let me talk to Phillip... This was in the year 2000... Long time ago....
Philip Rhee is QUALITY. Loved how he featured Tae Kwon do , Hapkido , Escrima, and Fencing in that last fight scene…he had a good stunt team to work with too-
If Don "The Dragon" Wilson's Bloodfist series didn't have him exclusively play in every single sequel, I think Phillip Rhee would have been a solid pick for one of them, 100%.
I had no idea there were 4 of these movies, I only ever saw 1 and 2. The first one was one of my favourite films as a kid, watched it more times than I can count.
Yo Mr Rhee aka Phillip Rhee I like and love Best of the best 1,2,3,4 also why because in my mind or my own opinion please do a Best of the best 5 and 6 sir please man.
First of all the one with Will Smith's KId should have been called the Kung Fu KId and excpet for some good Martial Arts, it was a pretty bad MOvie. The first 3 Karate KId MOvies especailly the first one aren't so much Martial Art Movie, but more about the Underdog Over-coming difficult odds to Suceed. It also to do with Mentor relationship when a father - is not available. Cobra Kai also explores these issues as well a Bullying. Cobra Kai also has to do with issues of Redemption. In those KK Movies and Cobra Kai- Martial Arts are part of the story, but not the whole story.
Actually, it's a another Korean Martial Art called Hapkido. Phillip Rhee was a 3rd degree black belt in it when he did Best of the Best 3 and 4. Has a lot of the same strikes as Tae Kwon DO or Tang Soo Do, but has an arsenal of joint locks and takedowns that is amazing.
@@fazjewls14 No problem. Hapkido often gets confused with AIkido as both have links to Daito-Ryu Aikijutsu. In fact, all Korean martial arts since the end of the Japanese Occupation have elements of Japanese Arts in them. Tang Soo Do was heavily influenced by SHotokan Karate; Tae Kwon DO, - SHotokan, Shorin-Ryu, Okinawan Goju and Judo; Hapkido - Aiki-Jutsu. ALl also have links to traditional Korean Styles like Tae Kyeon or Soo Bahk.
If you have a gun, start shooting. If you don't, most gangs are mostly followers with a few hard corps members following a leader. Take the leader out as fast and ruthlessly as possible and will cause the ordinary followers to run leaving you with reduced odds. Otherwise, evade and use their numbers a hindrance to them by impeding their friends attacks. Then work on picking them off one or two at a time until they run or you can run. Running is a perfectly fine reaction to resolve a fight with. Aid their blocking their friends with throws or redirects that put them between you and the most dangerous members of their group. However, you do it, you have to remember that in a mass group, you will be facing a mob mentality.
I guy pulls out knife on me I'm running. The guys in the stick fighting scene was good. But we all know the more opponents you take on the more likely your gonna get beat up especially if they're skilled.
Rhee has great technique and smooth moves, but at times (well, most of the time) the choreography looks more like one- step-sparring than an actual fight -- the bad guy swings, it's blocked, then he just stands there while the good guy retaliates. A lot of Van Damme fights had the same problem. If they'd combined the block with the retaliation, or removed the block completely when possible, the fights would've flowed much better...
