Doner kebabs in the UK have a reputation for being food consumed when drunk, mainly due to their high calories and excessive fat and sodium content. I haven't had one in years but have many fond memories of drunken Friday nights ending up in a kebab shop for a hot pitta bread loaded with a mountain of lamb doner meat and fresh salad covered in chilli sauce.
Khani Xia Oh, they're damn good. That's why you have to be drunk, so you won't care about the consequences of eating one. I always had lots of salad with it to alleviate any residual guilt 😆
Nova Scotia Donair recipe Ingredients 1 pound ground beef 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon paprika 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk 1/2 cup white sugar 1/4 cup white vinegar, or to taste 6 large pita bread rounds Directions In a bowl, thoroughly mix together the ground beef, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, paprika, cayenne pepper, and oregano. Pack the spiced meat into a thick loaf shape, cover, and let rest in the refrigerator overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place the meat loaf onto a baking sheet, and bake for 1 hour, flipping the loaf over halfway through cooking. Allow the meat loaf to cool so it holds together for slicing. Mix together the evaporated milk and white sugar in a bowl, stirring until the sugar is dissolved, and then add the vinegar by teaspoons, mixing together after each addition, to taste. Refrigerate the sauce until serving. Slice the meat loaf into 1/4-inch thick slices, and brown the slices in a skillet over medium heat until both sides are brown and crisp, about 5 minutes per side. Sprinkle the pita bread rounds with a little water, and press each onto a heated skillet to warm up. To serve, place several slices of meat into a warmed pita bread, and spoon about 2 tablespoons of sauce over the meat. Roll the pita bread into a cone shape, wrap in aluminum foil to keep the sauce from dripping out, and serve.
mmmmm donar pizza sounds so good!!!!! drool. i love how every dish could be turned into a pizza lol - you should do a challenge where you ask your viewers what would be the craziest dish to turn into a pizza and do it!!!
Doner meat is traditionally actually good quality meat, layered on a stick. It’s normally lamb. In the UK, doner kebabs are as you said, very low quality meat mashed together onto a stick and shaved off when grilled. It’s not supposed to be so bad for you but it just sort of turned into that when people found it a good drunk food.
ranch recipe: Ingredients 1 clove (to 2 Cloves) Garlic. Salt To Taste. 1/4 cup Italian Flat-leaf Parsley. 2 Tablespoons Fresh Chives. 1 cup (Real) Mayonnaise. 1/2 cup Sour Cream. Buttermilk (as Needed To Desired Consistency) White Vinegar (optional, To Taste)
Hey Quang! I was watching a documentary called 42 Grams earlier and thought of you...it was about a dude and his wife opening a high end resturant in Chicago. They started out doing "underground dining " (hosting a small group of folks over for a gormet home cooked meal) have you considered that? Lots of people have expressed interest in coming over to eat (your presentation and invitations are on point! Lol) it could make you some extra cash, put mama Tran to work, put the legendary table to use, and keep your beautiful food from going to waste. And the QT gang would love to watch your journey!! Anyhow, if you havent already, google underground dining and give it some thought. Keep it up!
Donair meat is beef my brotha.its easy to make at home. It’s not bones or feet hahaha it’s ground beef rolled on a spit and cooked for hours. RU-vid how to make donair meat. It’s actually invented in Canada (not many ppl know that)
shwarma and doner kabab were invented in turkey. donair is not the same :) donair was invented in canada by the owner of king of donair, Peter Gamoulakos. look it up. i own 5 donair shops and have been in this business for 15+ years. It was definitely invented in Canada and is considered a canadian food.
“I’m probably the first asian you guys will hear this from, I hate math” lololol Me too, I couldn’t stand math in high school and in college. I wanna finish one day but math is what keeps me from going back haha
Donair" is ground meat- beef or lamb or a combo. Usually beef. Shawarma is meat that is not ground, chicken, beef or lamb. The meat used for donair and gyro is to my experience exactly the same.
Donner is very popular Turkish meal It is very popular in the Germany were I live It has 2 options for meat One is chicken and the other one is beef All meat is covered in there seasonings and there famous white sos.I hope I helped you a litlle bit and by the way you and your channel are amazing
Yeah, many of the independent takeaways (kebab, burger, chicken and pizza all-in-one type places) do them in London. Usually the halal ones as they have to find substitutes for pepperoni, ham, bacon and spicy pork on their pizzas. I've never tried one though.
Hrundi V Bakshi I have here in London didn’t really like it as I don’t actually like donner meat 😳.... but only talking from my experience here in London 🇬🇧 💋
SARA Realistically, the places that sell decent tasting doner kebabs are usually strictly kebab shops and won't sell pizzas. The one's that sell everything go for quantity when it comes to the menu as opposed to quality. I'm in NW London and there are a few decent kebab shops around but also plenty of dodgy takeaways that sell every fast food menu item under the sun.
The pizza looks so good 😍 and yeah, it’s called Pizza Pizza here in Ottawa too. I wonder if they taste different ? I know the menu is a little different (donair meat is usually beef, but can also be chicken or lamb btw ☺️)
I missed u soo much 😌😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I used to see u everyday but my mobile is not working this is my mom mobile n I searched it channel n saw u I became soo happy soo happy
Wow that's a sweet combo how they sell that...like a McDonald's meal but better! Man they would do well here in hawaii! What's the price for that combo bro?
Donair is cooked on a skewer and rotates. It’s like a big slab of beef or chicken or pork. No bones and feet I don’t think. You got it mixed up with the chicken wings you’re eating with the bones.
Doner meat from good joints like the ones in Istanbul are made from the tender meat from lamb and beef grinded and mixed together, the lower quality doner however will be more like a hotdog in which they’ll use a lot of bones and the meats that people wouldnt usually eat and grind it together. Also #dietgang
My brother, Im from Serbia and I want to see you make cevapi but on a bbq because that is how we do it. Also try to make a burger with the same mix that you use for cevapi(pork and beef). Love youre channel dude, keep what you are doing. Peace!!! 😂
