The keyword is research and more research. If there is no rush to sell and one is patient, the best price will come in. That goes for buying and selling. Thanks for the advice!
Very good advice, even though this about the dreaded "S" word. The appropriate pricing! All the work is done then the price makes no sense what so ever. I see these mistakes and missteps in the antique world all the time. Finally, THANK YOU for the "clean the lens" advice. If the pictures are good you can zoom in on details and make sound decisions. When I see blurry, dirty, dimly lit, etc. pictures I stop looking at the ad. If the Seller doesn't have pride in presentation, what else don't they have pride in? Packaging, shipping, care of the item? The pictures are your introduction of yourself and the product you're trying to sell. The pictures MUST look good.
Great video and pointers. I agree with other repliers, photo quality matters a lot. As a collector (and visual artist) I value photos that allow me to judge the quality, as I only buy raw books. I use numerous sites/apps to buy and I'm looking now at those and others to eventually start selling my books. Take it easy.
I absolutely agree with your statements in here and that disclaimer was on point! I have bought quite a few comics from Instagram as it is a great way to connect and pick up books I don't see at my LCS or other places.
Boom! You know me bro. I want to give folks things to think about. There are options but people need to stop and think about what makes sense for them.
Thoughtful advice as always. There was one tip in particular that made me say, "Yes! That!" ...but I'll let people watch the video and see which tip gives them that reaction.
So far, I’ve only purchased comics either at a brick-and-mortar store or from one particular person on Facebook marketplace. I’m thinking about other means right now. I just have to make sure it right for me financially. I don’t want to jump down a rabbit hole of purchasing books, like you said, it’s all about balance. Anyway, I noticed there’s a LOT of people on Facebook with extremely out of whack pricing. There’s one person I’ve come across who is trying to sell mid-grade raw books at FMW of graded books and people have called this person out to no avail. Oh well, I guess they’ll be in the market for a long time. Great show as usual Regie, cheers!
Great advice! The one that really hits home is taking good pictures. Im sure as a buyer, I've skipped out on books that were probably great and appropriately priced but I passed since the pictures may have had glare or didn't show the right angles. Without all the right info and pics, I had to pass.
I always enjoy your videos and I pay attention to what you have displayed on your wall in the background and I love the horror genre being displayed. I personally love Bunny Mask and Killedelphia, and Nocterra. All great modern titles!
new sub/new seller!! hey what color background should i use when taking photos, i was thinking black for lighter book covers and white for darker covers. what do you use?
Regie you are so correct in looking at the different options for selling ones books. While I tend to only sell on eBay, it is due to my not being on other platforms. That said if I really reached out to the other platforms I might do better in my Sales. Thanks for the tips
Great breakdown of where is the best place to sale comics because I too often wonder that. There are so many platforms to sell a comic on and sheesh, how do you choose? The tips you gave in this video are beyond valuable thank you.
My fiancé has a massive collection and is having ZERO luck selling. He is starting with his Spider-Man series collection and only getting scammers responding..eBay has been a bust..
Excellent advice. I'm in the situation similar to the seller who's looking to sell everything at once, but my collection, once my 60 books come back from CGC, will be worth 25 or 30k instead of 125k (depending on the grading of the slabs). If my LCS will take everything for 50% FMV, it might just be worth it, saving me many, many hours and probably much frustration. But I definitely see the sense in selling the most valuable slabbed keys individually. Nothing can happen until the books come back from Florida, so I'll update you next summer.
@@ryebaldy8479 Well, it's been a LONG process, but all but 7 of the books have come back. And I have sold just about everything to my LCS, for roughly 12k. Like everyone else, I've scratched my head at some of the grading, but overall I think it's been fair. Pre-pandemic, I might have made 1k on selling my whole collection raw, so I definitely did much better than that. In the end, I didn't go online and sell the keys individually. Just didn't want the hassle. And I'm happy with the profit that I did make (the 7 comics due back will likely retail at close to 4k, so I ought to make another 1.5 on those). I'm fortunate in that this money is a bonus for me, which is why I didn't try to maximize the profit. All in all, it was pretty fun. And I have kept a dozen SA and BA keys for sentimental reasons.
@@ryebaldy8479 You're more than welcome. It's nice to be asked about it. Actually, the crash in the comic market makes me feel a little guilty with regards to my LCS. The owner's a great guy, and though he was buying all my old comics at 35% of retail value, that has probably turned out to be more like 70%, given the collapse in values. And you're right: it will take years to sell most of those comics (especially the dozen or so slabbed Eternals -- yikes!). While I realize that I mostly sold at the peak, which is good, I'm sad for my LCS that the market has cooled off so much. But the blue chip keys that he bought from me (mostly Silver Age ASM) will give him a nice return eventually. Sometimes I'm even tempted to go in and buy back some of the slabs that I sold to him! I might just do that one of these weeks. Why not? I like to support local businesses.
Hey bud. If you search RU-vid for “Regie Collects selling” you’ll find a few videos that look at this topic from various perspective. Generally speaking figure out what you have, make a list, price it, determine how much time you want to dedicate to selling. You can sell the books individually or the entire collection. Which approach may be driven by the quality of the books, the cost and the amount of time you want yo dedicate to selling.
I didn't get anything from your video.Nothing I didn't know before. I wanted a definitive answer. What's your opinion on the best place to sell your comic books? Your opinion is, there is no best place. That didn't help me at all. I read other comments where everyone seemed to be pleased with your video I guess you just can't please everyone. So oh I guess I was looking for something different than they were looking for. So no offense was intended.
Great tips, thank you. I been having an internal debate about what to do with my floppies collection. Do you think it maybe better to get books graded before doing the selling processing?
Hi Regie. Great vid. Would you possibly be able to recommend an online consignment company for someone that just had 3 or 4 short boxes of okay stuff and a few keys? I do consign on COMC for trading cards and see they do comics but not sure how popular they are for that demo. Thank you for any wise Jedi words. :)
Hi Reg, Will you be doing an update on the Go collect site problems? My account is still not in alphabetical order.Making my almost 500 graded books a very time consuming issue for me when looking for anything. When You look up a comic you know you own,it is not marked as such.Am I the only one having site problems and is go collect trying to downplay this problem. The goto response from go collect is " something is in the pipeline". Please shine some light on this Reg. Thank you.
I’m not sure that I can do an update. I don’t work for GoCollect so I’m not certain that a video from me will actually help the problem. Does that make sense?
@@RegieCollects Sorry Reg I think update was the wrong word.I was just hoping to find out if others are as frustrated with go collect as I am. Love your show and have a great evening.
I’ve received a lot of feedback from people in the first few days after the update. The vast majority of those issues were resolved once the full website was ported/updated. Other issues involved things being moved around and again these things were resolved once folks found the new location for their favorite feature. Others are just struggling with change and adjustment takes time. If you have flagged your issues with GoCollect, let’s give them time to resolve the issues. Or, you can drop them and go to another platform until the issues are resolved. You have options.
