Management and Program Analyst Janice Tippett of the USPTO Office of Patent Application Processing explains how to avoid common application filing issues.
Can Inventor's address be a PO Box or use the post office address with a "suite" number for the box? The city and state of PO Box is the same as my residence, but I don't want USPTO mail getting mixed up with mail with other people at my house and prefer PO Box for my mail. I'm concerned the post office address format with suite number might not show up in automated address capture software.
The inventor’s mailing address means that address at which he or she customarily receives his or her mail. Either the inventor’s home or business address is acceptable as the mailing address. A post office box is also acceptable.
