Ladies…SAVE your money. The PTR has to go on dry skin for it to tighten…THEN you can not put any other product over it. Once you apply anything including a serum, moisturizer, OR concealer the tightening affect disappears immediately. The PTR also leaves a white cast which is very difficult to remove. They say if you see any white cast, to pat the area with water HOWEVER again, once water or any liquid hits it the tightening is gone. And you can’t apply more because then you end up with even more white residue! I have tried to make this work so many types of ways. The only way I can see using this is one application of a tiny amount then once it’s dry, leave the area alone. Therefore, if you don’t need any concealer etc you may be ok. Tried applying powder product over it and it makes the area very cakey and the PTR noticeable. You may want to try it out in the store before buying. Qvc sells it with a small brush. The brush is useless. Too rough and impedes the application. Need a soft delicate hand. Any recommendations for other similar products which don’t have these issues are appreciated!
Hot & Flashy has a video on how she uses it and the specific makeup she uses in tandem to keep the PTR effective. Looks interesting but I have yet to try it
I apply it with a q tip (a small amount) & it works beautifully; it goes on a natural color & u can apply a small amount of powder over it but really isn't necessary
Ive been using plexiderm for a few years and have a routine. I first use a color corrector very minimally on the inside corner of my eye where it is purple also right under the outine of my lower lid. I put the plexaderm i put on right on the swollen trough with a brush. A brush really eliminates spread of the product. If you just put it where you need it then not put cosmetics like concealer or foundation you should be good to go. Just use HD powder such as elf and you should be great.
I have used the PTR product for years and it is a challenge but I figured it out…I squish it around in the tube to make sure it’s mixed…then I squeeze out about half the size of a pea. I make sure the area beneath my eyes is somewhat damp…I squeeze product on back of my hand. Then I get my small brush that is small & has a flat side. I get products on the brush and then put under my eyes and gently spread it out and make sure the product is evenly distributed. Especially around the edges. Now let it dry…at this point my eyes look fabulous, flat and smooth. You can’t put any concealer on it but your eyes will look so good that you won’t need it. If you have any white residue then I dip my brush in water and gently Pat the area with moist flat side. Once you get this technique down you will learn exactly how much to use…The other thing that I do is use that brush to go over my eyebrows and thenBrush defining shape with spoolie.they will be set for the day! I truly love this product, but application technique is everything! Thanks Dr.!
The PTR product works best if you put all your makeup on first, then put on the under eye cream and don't disturb it with anything, it has to dry. No movement and no makeup after it dries, This lady talks too much, for 16.5 minutes she goes on and on about this product, Just say what it does and get over with it! I may take two minutes
I watched this iT on QVC being presented numerous times. They ALWAYS said that it could be used on bare skin but the main selling feature was that it worked on top of ones concealer. I ordered…will see when it gets here.
Did it work for you? I recently bought the IT product from QVC as well and was soooo disappointed... I just can not get it to work. I have only tried it on clean, dry skin so maybe I need to try it over makeup? I do use the PTR product almost daily and it definitely takes some playing around with to get it to work. I am able to mix it with a teeny bit of concealer and it will still work.
@@rachel8364 Not at all! I’ve been working with it for close to a week , trying different techniques, going back and watching the presentations on qvc and I just can’t get it to work. It’s going back!…patti
They have a product called Sudden Change that’s been sold in drugstores forever and claims to do the same thing at a fraction of the price. Would you please give it a try and tell us how it compares. Sudden Change is a liquid that used to come in clear bottle in a box container. Someone (can’t remember who the RU-vidr is) raved about it and I also believe she hacked it by mixing it with her concealer or foundation. Would love to know if it’s just as effective as the more expensive one.
I bought this PTR product. It ABSOLUTELY works. I tried it this morning for the first time-- did my bags and elevens. However, I rarely wear foundation. I am reading in comments on this product that you can't put any makeup on over this. That would definitely be a deal breaker if you had to wear concealer and foundation, or even just concealer. Shame.
Since I don't have eye bags, I use products like this in my jowl area (Maelys Wow It & Meaningful Beauty Ultra Lifting & Firming). Then, maybe twice during the day, I'll pat on some La Mer Cream over it. Works pretty good!
Sometimes puffy eyes are due to allergies. I was having problems with puffy eyes, not bags, and a month ago my doctor started me on an antihistamine for my allergies. The puffiness has decreased somewhat and I hope it will decrease more in time. Just something to take note of.
I agree. It is definitely worse in hay fever season. I find facial massage helps a lot and it doesn't cost a cent. It's great for removing lymph which causes puffiness.
I wouldn’t mind having your ‘before’ swelling. But at 63 and not getting much sleep due to illness I need something. I’m fortunate I don’t have many wrinkles, but my eyes are showing my age I feel
Try the Plexiderm product. You can use with a "water based" concealer so long as you wait a little bit before applying the Plexiderm. It's in the instructions. I've done it & it does work & I've got very noticeable (at least to me) eye bags. Not from water retention. Ironically, they started right after a couple of days of crying! Believe it or not? I've always been an ugly crier, by which I mean, when I cry my eyes puff up to a ridiculous size. I've been like this all my life. Don't know why? Something to do with my tear ducts or something? I also really tear up when I laugh. Anyhow, going to sleep crying is out of the question!! When I awaken, I look like someone punched me in the eyes! No kidding! I have to ice then & sometimes it takes a day or two to go away. Hate it. So this particular time, I was already not a young girl and the collegen, etc. wasn't as plentiful. I cried myself to sleep for about 2 days. Where I was staying, they had an electric heater right next to me. Me, being so upset, I didn't even think about turning it off. So the combination of crying, going to sleep that way and that dry heat on (well, you can imagine?). I was like one of those dogs with saggy eyes! Not funny! I spent 2 days icing my eyes and trying to fix it but I've never been the same since. So ladies, who have that problem, it's a cautionary tale, don't do what I did. Especially if you're not in your youth anymore. Use the Plexiderm! I'm dying to try this new tinted one that the Dr. Spoke of!?😮
I LOVE the PTR - honestly can't believe how well it works! I work as a prep cook in a hot kitchen and thought it wouldn't last all day but was very pleasantly surprised! I do put a very light moisturizer on my undereye area first and let it sink in for thirty minutes or so until it looks and feels dry, and I put plenty of moisturizer on at night after removing it because it does have a drying effect. I find I only need a tiny amount - like the skin of the pea rather than a whole pea, lol. I use it midway down the eye bag and over the wrinkles below. If I put it all the way up close to my bottom lashes I feel like my eye doesn't want to shut all the way when I blink. No one has told me I look tired in weeks! Love that! and thank you Dr. because I believe it was your review that I saw which introduced me too it. Keep up the good work. 🤗😊
sounds like you found the right approach of all the comments I've read so far! thanks much for the info. I don't really wear makeup except a little color correction on the same bag area, so it sounds like with your approach I *might* be able to put that on top still (or might not need it with the tightening), or at least counter the drying effects.
Hello Dr. Dray! It's 12 am here now and I've been studying for my kinetics and pharmacodynamics exams for the finals and been pretty stressed out about it. Thank god you uploaded as I can now have several minutes of normalcy until I dive again to my studies.😅
Dr. dray is getting younger passing by each day/ year ☺️ and giving us her precious skin care knowledge free so we all enjoyed the same 😀 . Thanks Dr. Dray for sharing your knowledge with us ✨
I bought the PTR primer and used it according to Hot and Flashy channel. I didn’t like it at all. Left my skin too flat and matte. I bought a spray called Morning Star mineral recommended by Penne Smith and it tightens without looking flat. Thank you for the honest review and I do see in the before/after tightening.
i found the same issue you brought up with dryness and fine lines appearing with Ordinary's caffeine solution. Other times that product would burn. If you want a brightening effect, a tip is to use the cerave spf 50 stick, which has nano-sized mineral actives and can offer a little brightening to that area.
The PTR product doesn't work well when concealers or makeup is applied on top of the product. It only works alone. Yes, it is drying to the undereye area.
This is actually a completely useless product. You can't use anything under it or on top of it, thus rendering it a waste of time and money. White residue every time means the product is pretty much a joke.
There are a lot of these products. I seem to recall hearing folks talk about one Adrienne Arpel had/has in her line. I was switching through tv channels last night and came across one on HSN from active argan. The thing some have said about using these though is depending on whether or not the product is water or oil based, the products you put on top, can cause the effect to stop working.
Thank you for this video! When I heard about the It tightener I thought it would be a dream come true because they claim you can wear concealer and eye cream under it. And they claim there's no residue with it. I have used the PTR for years. I've been prone to puffy eyes since I was a kid. I'm much older now and have allergies that puff them out even more. The PTR isn't perfect by any means, but it does work. Sometimes, it sabotages me when I'm getting ready to go somewhere by leaving the residue glaring for all to see. So I need to rub it off and begin again. Either that or keep my sunglasses on. I can't wear concealer or anything else underneath. Fortunately, I don't have prominent dark circles, so I'll put a tiny bit of concealer in the inner corners and put the PTR on the baggiest part of my eyes. It sounds like the It version wouldn't be worth the money. I found a small size of the PTR on Beautylish for $23. Since you need to use sparingly to try and avoid the residue, both the small and regular-sized tubes should last a long time. I tried a couple of other products, the Glow Fairy and Westmore Beauty tighteners and they didn't work for me at all. The Glow Fairy is extremely expensive, but I got it on sale. I could feel it trying to work, but it didn't really do anything. Maybe it would work on a college student who stayed up too late studying and had an early class the next day, but it didn't help me at all. I haven't tried Plexaderm since I read reviews that it's not as good as the PTR. It's a lot more expensive as well. Until I can afford plastic surgery, I'll stick with Peter Thomas Roth. I am so glad you made this video, Dr. Dray, before I shelled out my $$ on the It tightener. QVC does have a good return policy, but it's still a bit of trouble to pack the stuff back up and get it shipped. I've learned so much about skincare from you!!
If you're looking for long term benefits to combat puffyness and fine lines I'd highly recommend the Skyn Iceland hydro cool eye gels. They've been featured on this channel before it used the same peptid found in Botox to smooth tighten and lift the face. Not only immediately but long term benefits with repeated use! Love the comparison! ❤
@@muminyuan Hello! Could you tell me if it worked for you? I have bags under my eyes and I don't know what to try anymore, can you please tell me if these patches work? Thanks in advance!
Kinda shocked there was a noticeable diff for you with the PTR one. I’d worry about the long term effects of regular use of these kinda products. Not for me, but very informative vid - thanks!
I’ve tried the PTR, IT, Dr. Brandt and Mary Kay tighteners. PTR left white residue, seemed like IT did nothing, Dr. Brandt is good, but Mary Kay is the winner for me!
Dr Dray, I have been watching your channel for years. I have to say you looked fabulous today with makeup on. I can not wait to try the PTR tightener for special occasions. I would love for you to make more videos for older women and skin care. After 70 is it still good to use products such as retinol? or is it to harsh. On other videos you made for older skin you just talked about cleansing, moisturizing. But not about how other products like retinal or vitamin C. which lead me to wonder if you thought we should not use it. Love your videos!!
I could never get the PTR one to work for me. It was always crusty and cracked looking. And I tried using a small amount as well and it still looked like that. Unfortunately 😢
I had the same issue. I tried it many times, sometimes applying with my finger and sometimes with a brush with everything from a super light application to a larger amount. Every time I ended up with white dried up product under my eyes. I so wanted it to work but finally gave up.
Hi❤ if i wash my face in evening apply moisturizer after two hours i do get lil sweaty, around 10pm i need to apply my isotretinoin gel should i rewash my face with cleanser or just plain water will do the job? Should i reapply moisturizer? I need to do this because of my routine and living conditions
I used these products for years for my hooded eyes,it rubs of,doesn't really do much, etc, best thing I ever did was getting a blepharoplasty 2 years ago,I wish I wouldn't waited so long for surgery, one hour and 20 year old looking eyes, dont be afraid, painless
Peter Thomas Roth also makes a product for smoothing lines on your face. Sephora gave me small amount to try at home. It doesn’t work as well as the product for under eye bags. The normal amount of face movement was enough to break the dried product down so the smoothing effect lasted a veryvery short time.
Peter Thomas Roth is my go to OG I love there tightening eyes and face and primer. I use very little never had any white crust or cast ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I'll always use it. Many need to try it. I love 💓💓💓❤❤❤it sooo much
Happy Wednesday Dr Dray!! Lovely video as always!! I have been seeing a lot of tiktoks talking about glycerin, can you talk about the benefits and also, I have seen people buying pure glycerin and mixing it with moisturizers! Would appreciate your input 🙏🏻
I imagine these types of products could be an alternative to more invasive procedures. Appreciate hearing your thoughts on products like this. You can definitely see a noticeable difference with the PTR one. Happy Wednesday, Dr Dray! Hope you have a peaceful evening. 💖
PTR is the WINNER!! highly recommend, I’m 66 & have fillers under eyes & in eye well on ea & this just tightens as you feel it working but you cannot go more than approx 8 hours max - less is more with this application
I've tried the drugstore version, not a fan. While there was a minor tightening effect, there was definitely a white residue as it dried. Also, applying concealer over top released the tightening immediately. Too bad!
You slay (Rock) doctor Andrea ❤. But for my alternative eye tightening i talk to a fear mongering person and then with their knowledge about everything they cause my itty bitty eye bags to tighten 😂 temporarily 😅😂. Also it's vegan and free from animal testing partially 😅. Have a great day Miss Andrea ❤.
I used the PTR and it produces such a white cast that can´t be covered with foundation without looking very cakey. I just received the It Cosmetics bye bye undereye bags from Ulta but haven´t used it yet. I´m hoping it doesn´t have that same white cast. I tried PTR at different amounts to see if just a tiny bit would work, but I still get the white cakey mess!
I had signed up for auto delivery with QVC for the PTR. After a couple of uses I canceled it. Like others have said you can only use it alone. I tried everything. I need moisturizer and concealer under my eyes as well so this was a flop for me.
I'm new to your channel. Have you any videos on frontal fibrosing alopecia? If so could you point me to them; if not might you address it? I was finally diagnosed after being dismissed b/c of my age (73 now) for a long time. I was told by all my doctors that it was hair loss due to aging (trust me, this is common when you get 'old')...I FINALLY got the right diagnosis when I was referred to a dermatologist for a skin issue (plaque). Had I gotten treatment earlier I might not have lost an inch of my front hairline. I wasn't aware for a long time that I was losing hair in the front b/c my hair is very thick. Thankfully my hair dresser pointed it out and kept doing so every 8 weeks which pushed me to keep asking my doctors, who kept blowing me off. If I had not been referred to a dermatologist for the skin plaques who knows how much more hair loss I'd have experienced.
PTR product has a lot of reviews on Sephora that I read a month ago when there was a lot of buzz.. It validates what Dr Dray has to say about pros and cons. I need to use concealer to even out skin tone in the eye area since my old skin has thinned. Decided the cons outweighed the pros for me. Will stick with eye masks for now.
Dr Dray did you actually have under eye bags ? I have huge ones and it’s really noticeable, I mean is it valuable if you try this thing without actuallly have them 😞
I bought the PTR and I have had great results with it. It is an amazing product that works extremely well for me. I use a small makeup brush to apply and I let it dry on bare skin for 5 minutes. I use a tiny pea size amount and I have had some white residue only if I apply too much. A tiny bit of water dabbed on does the trick. I apply it under the eye as well as between my brows, on the outer edge of my eyes where crows feet may be prominent and on the brow bone and area right above the moving lid. This item has been life changing for me and has taken years off of my skin! I do not use foundation but sometimes a powder with no issues. I find that I do not need concealer if I use it! I say give it a try and use a small makeup brush. I haven’t had any problems with irritation. It’s amazing! 👍 Thank you Dr. Dray for the review!!
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Wednesday😀n what a Wonderful Vid…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Helpful🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜…..
I have bags due to an eye infection and the swelling of my eyes caused it. Surgery is my only option which I can’t afford so I appreciate you Dr.Dray addressing this problem.😊
What brand of cosmetics are the best for someone with Celiac Disease. I am having a very hard time finding safe products that aren't full of contaminants and grain bi-products.
QVC yesterday had the IT Cosmetic's one as the showstopper, a 2-for-1 set. As soon as I saw it on QVC, I thought "ooh! IT is coming for PTR😂!" IT Cosmetics said they worked on their product for 10 years.
That was my first thought, too! I ended up buying it, but I don't expect it to work as well. PTR, however leaves the white cast and I used almost nothing of it. I used so little it didn't do anything for the one eye.
Thank you for reviewing these products! I could have used the PTR this past weekend at my daughter’s wedding! Will definitely be purchasing that one for future events!
None of these preparations will work until creators can tackle the dryness which results from using them and the inability to put makeup on over them without disturbing the so called tightening claims made by these products. They may offer some camouflage if used alone, but bags often come with darkness that needs to be covered. After having tried most on the market, I will wait for some miracle formulator to address all the downsides of what is currently on the market.
PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE PETER THOMAS ROTH (PTR) 'TEMPORARY' EYE BAG CREAM! Peter Thomas Roth is an awesome company and their oil free face moisturizer is amazing and I've been using it for years. This specific TEMPORARY eye cream is not even close to being as great a product. It does state on the tube, T E M P O R A R Y! But LITERALLY, you apply it under your eyes, let it sit for a few moments and voila...the bags are gone! Truly, within 10 minutes, especially if you put lotion or sunscreen over it OR if you even start to move your face (talking/laughing), the bags immediately come back. I'm really disappointed that PTR even created such a bogus product which is a total waste of money. They are a very reputable company and this was just a bad decision on their part. I get it. The clause on the front of the tube clearly says temporary, but for 5 minutes (MAYBE 10)??? It's just wrong and not fair to encourage your loyal product users (like me) to throw their money away. Soooooo disappointed! Waste of time, waste of money. Dr. Dray, you've got to be able to see this issue???? I know you earn commission but come on?!
I have used the PTR. I find it is drying and leaves a white grit. My eyes are very sensitive, and it makes them water more, possibly adding to the gritty effect.
I know skin types are not scientifically regulated terms but more of a commercial/marketing thing. I've realised that more now, as a lot of products influencers recommend for "oily skin" don't work for me while those mentioned to be for "dry skin" sometimes do. I'm more on the oily side. Skincare is largely a hit and miss. If you want to do a video about skin types, Dr. Dray, please do ❤
