Tirimbina Rainforest Lodge is one of the best rainforest lodges in Costa Rica. It's a scientific research centre in Sarapiqui which also specialises in ecotourism. It's in the middle of the rainforest and a perfect base to see the wildlife for which Costa Rica is famous.
Tirimbina Lodge has everything that you need to enjoy a wildlife holiday in Costa Rica
Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. The rainforests and cloudforests contain many rare species of flora and fauna. It is an especially good destination to see birds as well as animals, insects and a huge diversity of plants.
This video shows what you can expect if you travel to Costa Rica in January, which is in the dry season - though you're still likely to get caught out with the tropical rain showers!

Welcome to Sarapiqui in Costa Rica, a hidden gem tucked away in the lush greenery of Central America.
Sarapiqui is a region located in the northern part of Costa Rica known for its stunning natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and exciting outdoor adventures. It is home to the Sarapiqui River, which flows through the valley and provides an opportunity for exciting whitewater rafting experiences.
Visitors to the area can also explore tropical forests brimming with exotic plants and animals, including jaguars, anteaters, and howler monkeys. One of the best ways to see the wildlife is by taking a guided tour with a knowledgeable local guide who can point out the unique species that call the area home.
Sarapiqui is also a popular destination for birdwatching enthusiasts. The region is home to over 500 species of birds, including toucans, parrots, and hummingbirds. There are several birding tours available, including a unique experience where you can observe the colorful feathered creatures from a hanging bridge suspended over the forest canopy.
Besides, the region offers a range of eco-tourism activities, including hikes in the jungle, horseback riding, and zip-lining through the forest. Visitors can also visit traditional Costa Rican villages and engage in cultural immersion experiences, such as cooking classes or learning about the local agricultural practices.

These videos are so interesting Rob, and I love where you stayed and all of the different animals you come across! I remember Cyril in the tree guarding his territory and how others came along but left him to it and the acrobatic monkeys were adorable , especially the baby :) That parrot looking bird was gorgeous as was the sloth. Not sure about that biting centipede, ant eater and poison frog though 😃 Hanging bridges are great and that one over the river was so nice. I would love to white water raft there and do that trail through the rainforest and definitely go to the choc making session. Great video :) ~ Anna 👍
