Fabulous Rob surprised how chilly its get at night 😮 but very nice by day 👌🏻 The views over the delta were so cool from the camp 🏕️ but keeping an eye for animals definitely adds spice when heading to your tent ! Best wishes Simon 🤠👍
Ah Rob it looked very beautiful here, cold at night though but nice to have it so warm in the day. That little plane flight must have been amazing especially seeing the elephants.. The wildlife there is adorable, love giraffes. That looked fabulous :) ~ Anna 👍
Hi Anna, Thaks for the quick response! :) It was a fabulous holiday and I will do a few more vids in the coming weeks. The flights in small planes (we did two) were amazing and you could just make out the animals below. All the best, Rob
Thanks for your interest in the vid and for taking the time to comment, much appreciated. I knew that they had visited Fort Henry but I didn't know that they were there on the same day - that must have been a big day for Studland! If you're interested in WW2, you might be interested in this video of Lepe Beach, which is uploaded to my other RU-vid channel 'Living in The New Forest': ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z1Nmyu3YwuY.html Best wishes, Rob
I must download this app, a lot of friends have got it and when I am hiking first thing in the morning, there are so many birds making so much noise, which is really nice but it would be even nicer know what the actual bird is, cheers Alan
Thank you for sharing . Really enjoyed it. It looks like you are having the same type of weather we have had in Minnesota in the states. Lots of rain not real warm weather yet and we are going into July but enjoying the summer😊Kim 62 Minneapolis
Hi KIm, I'm pleased you enjoyed the vid. Yes, the weather is still not very 'summery'. We've had some nice days but too many cool ones too. Our weather forecast is for more rain than usual - they have been known to be wrong though:) All the best, Rob
Quite useful tips. We have done narrow boats with 6/7 friends on canals. What advice you will give hiring at Norfolk Broads for 6 friends for 3 to 4 days. Never done Norfolk Broads before
Hi, apologies for the delayed reply, we've been away. Thanks for watching the vid and I'm pleased that you found it interesting. Here is the follow up vid which will give you more tips: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d40bjfCTkkk.html You won't have to worry about locks on the Broads but you will need to pay attention to the tides - some bigger boats (which you will have) can't get under every bridge at high tide, - Ludham bridge is one of these. Also if you are planning to cross Breydon Water, read up about it as it's very tidal here. If you download one of the Apps mentioned in the vid at the link above, you will find phone numbers to contact - coastguard, etc Have a great time! best wishes, Rob
Hi, thanks for watching the vid and I'm please you found it informative. We visited Wells in May 2021 (we have been back since, but 2021 is when the shots in the vid were taken). Best wishes, Rob
Hi Mandy, yes, I quite agree, though the more more experienced boaters are a bit sniffy about thrusters. Anything that makes it easier, I say :) Thanks for watching and best wishes, Rob PS - apologies for the late reply, we've been away.
@LivinginTheNewForest thanks Rob, I watch yours videos from Argentina 🇦🇷, I wish travel across your countryside in the near future. Thanks a lot again.
Thank you so much for this. I'd downloaded the app several months ago but didn't know about the local bird packs. I'm in Kenya so you can imagine my surprise when all my birdsong matches seemed to be of North American species. This video helped me realise I'd downloaded the wrong pack.
Hi freedomm, I'm pleased that the video helped you. We are going to Botswana soon and I've downloaded the local bird pack, so I'll see if it works! Thanks for watching and best wishes, Rob
Thanks very much Rosemary, I'm pleased that you found the vid useful. Dartmouth is a lovely place and well worth visiting. In the vid, I left out Thomas Newcomen, who invented the first steam pump and lived in Dartmouth. There is an exhibition in the visitor centre. I was going to make a separate video of Newcomen, which is why I left him out, but then I realised that I don't have enough photos to make a decent video to do him justice. Hope you enjoy your visit. Best wishes, Rob
was surprised to find an incredible video while reading "Great Trees of Britain and Ireland." It led me to search for the pannage season, particularly in New Forest, as mentioned in the book. Being someone not from Britain, it's difficult to fully imagine without a video.
Hello Ferdinand, I'm pleased that you liked the video of the Pannaging Pigs. The pigs are released every Autumn to eat the acorns from the Oak trees, as these are poisonous to the ponies and donkeys, if they eat too many. Here is another video that you might like, from my other RU-vid channel 'Living in The New Forest': ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S_El-j0-QXU.html Thanks for watching and best wishes, Rob
thank you for this video. My grandfather Henry Wright was born in Montacute and was a stonemason, the fact that there was a quarry there is obviously the reason for his trade. I am hoping to visit Montacute soon and will definitely be taking a look at the quarry. I have stayed at the Kings Arms before and intend to return.
Hi Julie, thanks for watching the Montacute vid and for taking the time to comment, much appreciated! It's always interesting when you have an attachment to a place, isn't it. I hope you go back soon and find out more about your grandfather - there's a great view from up at the quarry too! Best wishes, Rob
That's interesting Mark. Do you know their history? Are they wartime aircraft related? Thanks for taking the time to comment, much appreciated. Best wishes, Rob
@@TheCountryTraveller Yes there was a bombing range down the Kilbrannen Sound between Kintyre and Arran so the one at Skipness is understood (Observervation tower still extant) - but I'm still struggling to understand what the same type of arrow is doing pointing out across the Gigha Sound on the other side of the Kintyre Peninsula is meant to signify
@@MarkFlett01 Interesting and another mystery :) Incidentally, the arrow here was covered over until a few years ago. It was uncovered by two local people, who knew it was there. I only found that out recently. Best wishes, Rob
This was our first canal boat trip and we had glorious weather. The couple that we went with are on another canal boat holiday now - and it's pouring with rain :( Tx for watching
Ooo Rob this does look so appealing to do a boat holiday. Especially loved the grade 11 listed cottage / museum that you bodied. So fabulous there ~ Anna 👍
Thanks Anna, I'm pleased you found it interesting. Boating holidays are good fun, especially if the weather is good. Thanks for watching, Much appreciated.
Thanks for watching this video uncovering the secrets of How Hill. Please give a LIKE - thanks. Here is another Norfolk Broads video that you might find interesting: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5RfYyWiMqdc.html
A very enjoyable 8 minutes. Nice footage, educational, and no bullsh*t or gimmicks. I've never been to the New Forest, but it is extremely high on my bucket list of things to see and do. Great vid. 👍
Thanks Glen, I'm pleased you found the diary interesting. I have another channel which is about The New Forest which might interest you: www.youtube.com/@LivinginTheNewForest/videos This is mainly nature type vids but at the moment I'm doing a history series, to coincide with the 80th anniversary of D Day. Thanks again for watching the vid. Best wishes, Rob
Hi Rob yes winter is definitely putting up a fight everywhere this year I think ! So nice to see the daffodils out and the donkeys looked cute here. Loved the close up of the deer and birds that you took. All of the animal footage including the sheep was adorable and those army vehicles were great to see too. Lovely informative footage as always 🙂👍~ Anna
Hi Anna, thanks very much. I'm still wearing several layers of clothes, it's ridiculous :) The first foal in our local part of the forest arrived yesterday, there will be lots more to see during May. Hope all is well and tx for watching Anna. Best wishes, Rob
