My quest to try the BEST ramen noodles in New York continues as I visit 4 more locations to try out their ramen noodle soups.
1. MU Ramen
I LOVED this place, BEST Tonkotsu ramen in the city! Don't forget to try their pancakes...just insane.
2. TOTTO Ramen
VERY hyped up place for a good reason. This was my first time eating here and it certainly deserves its stellar reputation.
3. Hide-Chan Ramen
This place was recommended to me by the chef-owner of MU so my expectations were high. But very mediocre broth and noodles did not really absorb the flavor.
4. Minca Ramen
Another recommendation. SUPER thick and flavorful broth. The best thing was the pork by far.

I would like to go today, but it is too hot to leave the house and I have been eating soooooo many chocolates I could not do the ramen justice! Anna Hollenback -Then do it. Just decide on a flavor profile that either complements or derives from a popular holiday dish. Stuffing with sage is probably at the top, so how about a sagey dish with ham or turkey, celery and onion. Play with it.

I agree that Totto is absolutely excellent. I tried the pork spicy paitan and it was beyond amazing. I also liked how they blow torched the porks in the bowl before serving.

Besides the ramen, itself, (which is REALLY REALLY GOOD at Totto) that hot oil looked insanely good--all of that garlic with the chilis? I'd be doing shots of that by the end of the meal.

I've never experienced Totto Ramen in NYC; my first time was in Taipei. I loved it from the first bite. They just give you so much meat and for only $9, it's a no brainer. I've yet to have anything close to as good back in the States. I can't wait to have it again next month when I go back. I also went to Ichiran in Taipei and was not impressed. Keep it up Mikey!

Your passion and enjoyment for Ramen never cease to amaze me Mikey-San. The best ramen I’ve had in Winnipeg is Cho-Ichi Ramen 🍜 their spicy garlic tonkotsu pork ramen is absolutely incredible. Of course we don’t have the special Japanese chain ones here, but some of those ones look incredible, especially Totto, but I wonder how that Red Dragon 🐉 Ramen 🍜 at Hide-Chan would be??

Mike, though it's apparent that you love and are open to all styles of ramen I hope you get to go to Hakata one day (gauging from your reactions to Tonokotsu and heavier styles of ramen). It will literally CRUSH every kind of ramen you have ever had both in the US and in Japan (you'll see that Ichiran is nothing compared to TRUE kyushu style ramen).

All the ramens looked awesome! Because I know better, I had a full meal of South American comfort food prepared before I watched the video. Totally different flavor profiles, but every bit as satisfying. Arroz con menestra, ensalada de aguacate, rabano y pepino encurtido, Cuba Libre. ;) Eat on, Mikey...and Happy New Year!

The spicy garlic at Hide Chan is one of my favorite bowls in NYC and I go there quite often. I must say the location in Hells Kitchen serves a superior bowl than the one on the east side you went to in this video. I also suggest getting the wavy noodles over the straight. I wish you had a better experience because I do think this place is top notch.

It's ok to feel cheap rather than eating the best ramen noodles at a well known restaurants. U gotta try it for once instead of the ramen packs where u have to enhance the flavor of the soup. Go out to some of these restaurants n see the results how much different from those to the instant noodles.

I was at Hide-Chan Ramen yesterday! I got the Kogashi Ramen and the broth was really thick and flavorful. I don't know if it's just the different type of soup but mine was thick to the point where I couldn't drink it without drinking water with it haha

You have to try the classic tonkotsu ramen at Tonchin Ramen in NY!! I feel it's so much better than ippudo, totto, everything (and i had ramen in Japan - felt this one was closest in flavor!). Would like to see what you think :)
