To this day, 50% of the proceeds from this song go to UNICEF in recognition of the "International Year of the Child" in 1979. In 2014, all ABBA members agreed on increasing their donation to 100% of all royalties from the song to UNICEF. As of 2021, the song's royalties have raised $4.8 million for the charity
Yeah, I noticed that too ! .. And once I did, it was actually a little distracting, as I'm watching her and hoping she'll get those flying hairs under control, when I should really be thinking about the song .. She is smiling about it, and at one point she traps the hair in place by pressing it against her cheek and pretending it's a natural hand gesture .. Quite clever, Frida ! 😅
• Yes, ABBA is a phenomenon! So now you understand why they have so many dedicated fans that love them! Not only are they a rare talent, they are also humble, down to earth and pristine. Very good, genuinely nice and caring people.
I told this story on another reaction channel, but this song helped me work through my grief when my dad died suddenly when I was 14. It will always be a very special song for me. Very compassionate and tender. The songwriting, arrangement, and performance are perfection, as is the way with ABBA.
In this song, they are singing to a child speaking about grief and finding hope..... ' you'll be dancing once again and the pain will end...". Just another one of their greats.
Beautiful 🤍 the harmonies are perfection . Freda with her lower soft tone contrasting to the higher pure bright notes of Agnetha - not to mention Benny & those wonderful chords & Bjorn on Spanish guitar❤
I remember watching this live in New Zealand when it was broadcast internationally in 1979 & you only had to hear it once to realize it would sell a lot of records. I think most young males in the NZ & Australia in the 1970's were in love with these 2 girls. ABBA banged out so many massive songs. I don't think America really got to appreciate them maybe until now!
Hi, BKLyN boy! Hey... great reaction. Very authentic and very funny. I enjoyed it a lot. Have those sunglasses ready, because Frida still has a lot to offer you... See ya... Love ❤️ FRIDA ❤️ ABBA A big hug from Chile 🇨🇱👍
soprano and mezzo soprano work so so well together .. given how music is made these days i doubt we will ever see the likes again... lot of people hate on abba ,but most musicians respect and love abba (even in secret lol)... as a band outside of the 4 members , the musicians are next level good ..so tight and full of grove ... one of the best bands to ever grace the airwaves for sure ..
This is my favorite, the outro get me each time, i'm waiting for it so that make the rest of the song even better. That's a time when there were a few wallets but mostly skills, talent, passion and even more from everyone involved. These guys will never be silenced.
I've always liked this one because Agnetha's voice is high and crystalline and Frida's voice is soft and velvet and you can hear them BOTH so clearly. By the way, I think the hair in the face was an accident due to a misplaced fan. They didn't want to bother with a reshoot.
LOVE your reactions and your appreciation for this EPIC, ICONIC band, one the most successful in history. They laid down 8 albums and 28 hits worldwide. When they toured they were mobbed like the Beatles or Michael. They were as big as you could be from 1970-1982. Check out their greater world-smash 'Dancing Queen' and 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' 'Does your Mother Know that You're Out" Voulez Vous"
I've watched a few of your ABBA reactions tonight. Oh boy you make me laugh 😆 I imagine if you got to meet Frida this very moment, she is so sweet, she would kiss you on the cheek and say "Thank you darling" 😁 She would love you 🤗🙏
I'm so glad to see you with reaction to ABBA several things to say about "Chiquitita" (1979) Chiquitita" means 'little girl' (with affection) in spanish And the melody have a spanish tune, specialy by the acustic guitar But the center is the wonderful piano, like almost all ABBA songs "Chiquitita" is a beautiful song, it has hopeful lyrics, a melody that starts very soft with the blonde Agnetha's solo, then grows and explodes in a powerful chorus; Agnetha & Frida's vocal harmonies are of excellence It allows us to check how excellent singers Agnetha & Frida are and what harmonies of excellence they achieve. It stands out especially when they stretch the monosyllables with great quality and beauty "Chiquitita" was premiered especially for the UNICEF Concert (January 9, 1979, just 44 years ago!) and its royalties are eternal for UNICEF "Chiquitita" was ABBA's greatest success in Latin America, that prompted ABBA to record it in Spanish, and its success was so extraordinary that in the following year ABBA recorded a full album with their best songs entirely in Spanish ("Chiquitita" in Spanish is the biggest ABBA hit in My country Argentina) Chiquitita" is in the Top 3 of all ABBA worldwide biggest hits, with 'Dancing Queen" and "Fernando", and it's a fantastic Masterpiece These official video was filmed in Swizterland 1979 (ABBA goes for a TV Special) It's the only promotional video that ABBA made without Sweden I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs My best wishes from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South América and Happy New Year *like an ABBA song from 1980
I recommend you a Spanish singer her name is Diana Navarro with the song "El perdon". She is very versatile and sings different musical styles with a very particular voice and incredible melismas. She always transmits. She also sings in other languages. The truth is that she is a very complete singer. Greetings.
Oh, man. You can't hold this love for Frida, uh? LOL. When I was a little kid, my parents played ABBA hits in the car, and i felt in love for Agnetha's look and beauty, at the label of the k7. So, I understand why you react to her videos like this. LOL
I don't wanna recommend a next "best" song since you already plan to go through all their main stuff lol, and don't want you do all their stuff you'll like the most first lol! (The logical next step is Fernando, which is LOTS OF FRIDA, so save that for later! lol) I was worried that you might not like their "less upbeat" stuff, but you clearly followed them as they went into the emotional lows here and RODE them up to the happy highs! ABBA very rarely fails to make me smile because even their ballads feel uplifting. I still recommend that if you want to cover just their hits (which is already like 20+ songs!), to take the ABBA Gold listing and go in chron order (they are NOT in chron order on ABBA Gold, however! someone needs to put up a listing). Of those songs, Waterloo was first ;) And that last bit with the piano is AGELESS and has been trending on TikTok for a while now. ABBA is forever!
Bklyn, you should check out "I Know There's Something Going On", from Frida's solo album "Somethings Going On." It has a rockier edge to it. The song got a lot of airplay here in the US (reaching #13, where it stalled for 3 weeks). Fernando is one of Abbas biggest hits, next to Dancing Queen, where it stayed #1 in Australia for 14 amazing weeks. Their harmonies on the chorus are some of the best. Agnetha also had some success with her song "Can't Shake Loose." It came out about a year after Frida's. Love 💕 the enthusiasm and the entertainment you bring!❤
If you’re into the disco era, you have to start doing The Bee Gees! Listen to their 70’s stuff like Stayin’ Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Too Much Heaven, Tragedy, You Should Be Dancing and their 60’s stuff like I Started A Joke, To Love Somebody, I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You. You will not regret any of them!
Thank you for reacting to the best artists from the 70s and 80s. They were the best, with real music and real beauty. Just keep in mind that most of these artists are in there 60s/70s right now.... I had a rude awakening with idols from the 60s &70s LOL😂😂
stumbled across your channel, and i've been here now a wee while watching your reactions to abba. ;) total class lol nice one. loved them from the age of 4 when watching them win the eurovision song contest lol.
'Chiquitita' ( dear little one )....an older women helps a young girl who is sad due to a breakup with her boyfriend (su novio).....this is a song many Spanish mothers sing to their daughters......by the way, Abba does a version in Spanish that is sung perfectly.......
Until now you did reaction to ABBA songs: Mamma Mía Dancing Queen Money money money Take a chance on me Chiquitita Gimme gimme gimme hope to see you soon in another ABBA song my next suggestion is "Waterloo" (1974) but I prefer that the ABBA performance at Eurovision Song Contest in UK 1974 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Vp1_OKawHYw.html ABBA begin your worlwide fame when They conquers the classic Eurovision Song Contest at UK with their iconic song "Waterloo", after these their first worldwide hit first #1 in UK 🇬🇧 and half Europe #6 in U.S. #7 in Canadá 🇨🇦 #4 in Australia 🇦🇺 , #3 in New Zealand
Смотрю на Анни-Фрид! До чего же очаровательна, эти непослушные волосы, столько жизни и естественности в ней. Никакого напряжения в лице - прекрасная улыбка. Просто секси.
Tell you what my lad, why not take a chance and react to Take a Chance On Me: Live from Switzerland: 1979? I promise you that you won't regret the experience!
I just love your Abba reactions!!! Please try One of us, My love my life, Move on, Keep an eye on Dan and Summernight city. There's so many other songs though 👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥
Please check out Frida in action belting out Why did it have to be me on their Australian tour the best performance of her career if you can handle her in hotpants!
This video was re-recorded because the producer didn't like the struggles with the elements - it was - as you've noticed very windy, and the lighting was terrible. They recorded another indoor version, but this one eventually made it out as the official video. It was part of a special called Abba in Switzerland, hence them being on a mountaintop. Chiquitita means "little girl". It was written for a young child struggling with life at home to let them know there is always someone to talk to - however bad things get.
Bjorn is pronounced Bee - yorn. Agnetha is pronounced Agn - eh - tah Break her name into the component parts and then say it faster. There's also a video or two and you can search to hear her say it. Annifrid is pronounced Ann - ee - freed or, of course, Frida Benny - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Benny!
