i use boost on X and jump on SQUARE, air roll right on R1, air roll left on D-PAD RIGHT (i do claw on left hand) and air roll/powerslide on L1, which i think is pretty good

Hi, I have XBox and I have a question. Is it possible to do axis replacement? When I want to fly I have to jump and then push the Left Stick Forward instead push it Back. It's really frustrating...

When u talked about pros having default controls and not being able to jump and boost at the same time, it's possible they have back buttons that are mapped to the default controls but still let them do everything at the same time

The problem is you are using a pc. If you use a ps4 you will find that its way harder to be good. Because your fps is locked to 30. Not 200

I use default settings except i use powerslide on L1, airrol left on L1 and airrol right on r1, trust me once you kinda master the airrol you Will hit insane angles

I‘ve thought about this for awhile now and i just recently made a major change to my keybinds. I can now boost and jump at the same time. The somewhat sad part is that o was pretty decent with my old controls and am now struggling to regain my mechanical basics back. However, i hope this will help impropve my speed and skill in the long run, as I‘m looking to try „grind“ ranked again.

I did the same after 600h hours which included JUMP button change. After 2 weeks at least 1h per day it was almost as consistent as with old binds. And after 1 month I ranked up (from plat to diamond. Atm GC1 :) ) so my couple of experiences it takes 2 weeks. I've done it now in other games too included CS...

I tried your control scheme and its actually a lot of fun, however it seems like its based on tweaking the sensitivities and deadzones, or turning at low speeds becomes really difficult. Do you still use that layout, and what are the sensitivities and deadzones you run with it?

I have NEVER seen anyone do this, but on Xbox I have jump on A (X for PS) and boost on X (Square for PS) so I can press them at the same time while my thumb lays in a very natural position.

Rate my keybinds pls: Forward and backwards with the triggers: air roll left with l1, boost with r1, jump with x, drift and regular air roll on square and change camera on triangle.

It began to dawn on me how difficult editing a video like this would be towards the end so when I heard you say "my editor---" I was thinking damn he has quite the job "----Was on vacation" and suddenly my respect for you grew 10 times. As a sidenote: I think it should be stressed how misleading "pro" bindings are even though we all tend to rationalize that if an ssl is using them then a plat like me can too.

Literally not even kidding as soon as I picked up this game I changed my controls to these: (on PS4 btw) Forward: R2 Boost: R1 Jump: X Power slide: L1 Air Roll Left: L1 (I recommend having your primary air roll and drift on the same button) Air roll right: Square Reverse: L2 Ball Cam: Triangle

The circle and x IS very viable. Like they can press the two keys at once. They "fat finger" the two keys. It's simple to learn.

Yo Luke - Got a question for ya if you don't mind. I've been playing RL for about 300 hours and have always used the L Analog Stick for my driving controls. It makes sense to me and I like having the other buttons freed up. However, looking at the site with all the pro player's controls, I noticed that not a single one of them uses Analog Stick driving controls. I know I shouldn't blindly emulate what pros do - but as a stick user yourself, do you think using the stick is imposing some major limitation that pus the pros off? I'm just surprised to see not a single one of them using it. Do you know of any pros that DO use the stick? Thanks

i used to bind X as boost, ball to jump (yes i didnt looked like a human), triangle to powerslide, square to ball cam, r1 as arR and l1 as arL, but now i use X as jump, ball to powerslide, square to arR, triangle to ball cam, r1 to boost and l1 as normal air roll

Surprisingly I almost have the same binds I found it easier to use...i went through one of my fav players control and then changed keys to where my fingers go naturally and binded those..that helped a lot... But well I still suck at air roll left lol

ive never seen it either.. i tried it but i feel like i lose a lot of air control. hitting gas and break actually affect your acceleration while flying so i feel gimped. i really like the idea of freeing up 2 of the easiest to hit hotkeys though.

I changed mine and want to die after 2 days: I'm in this confused purgatory. The reason I changed was bc I plateaued in plat. I didn't know to re-bind from defaults...that being said, I'm 1000s of hours in with some bafoon settings. My kids taught me this game and I get trolled for the tag they gave me. I tried to go back, but my phantom middle fingers said "naawwww"

Hey SpookLuke! I have been trying out your controller settings for about 2-3 hours now and I notice I'm having trouble turning precisely. This makes hitting specific shots a lot harder. How did you get used to turning while pushing the stick up to drive forwards? Does it just take time?

I play on all platforms but I’m going to describe this in PlayStation terminology. Flame me or agree with my controls, your pick: Back buttons: L2: brake. R2: Drive L1: Airroll/Powerslide. R1: AirRoll right Face buttons/sticks: Dpad: all quick chats. Triangle: ball cam Square: replays(lmao) circle: boost X: Jump Left stick: steer. L3: air roll left. Right stick. Camera controls(look around) R3: text chat for a while but I put it back to reverse cam

If you have a directional air roll bound already, why still bind the regular air roll? It would be a lot better to just bind the other directional air roll and you wouldn’t be at any disadvantage, but you would free up your joystick while air rolling.

Totally see what you are saying however non-directional air roll allows for a lot more precision and small adjustments, ideal for recoveries, wave dashes, air roll shots etc. However, there is no set in stone rule so if you find ARL and ARR work for you then go for it man

as drive and reverse do impact your movement in the air isnt it a bad idea do have them as the same bind to pitch up/down if your goal is to have as best car control as possible? i am terrible at the game so idk but my logic just tells me its a possible issue down the line

I recently got champ in ones and there’s a great difference in shooting and defending so I would say if you want to reach champ practice your shooting and defending until your arms fall off

It depends on which mode you’re stuck in 3s it’s mostly filling in gaps of your team look how they play and try not to double commit with doubles you need to probably defend more then attack cuz your teammates can’t handle defensive situations alone and clear the ball good enough and of course for both power clears and positioning is key and with ones you already got a solid answer

Ayo Luke, thank you so much for doing this! I was rly not confident about my controls, and i only have like 150-200h in game, so i thought that it wouldnt be too bad to change, but seems like i actually have like perfect controls, so thank you for doing this!

I'm so confused i really want to use the same setting were you can drive using only the analog stick but if I try steer normally I can't do a 180 turn because I'm not moving forward due to the settings. any help??

I personally don't think that there is one set keybinds that's the most optimal for everyone because people have can hold their controllers differently. I pretty much have default controls with air roll & powerslide on my left bumper as well as air roll left on X (xbox controller). I am perfectly able to meet your requirement of being able to press all of the 3 core RL inputs just fine. This is because I have my thumb always resting on B, my middle finger for drive, and then I have my index curled so that I am able to press the other 3 buttons on my controller. Your video was great! but I do think addressing the way people hold their controllers or if they have paddles is just as important :)
