Lovely overview. I’ve said it before, but I have only sampled his line once in passing and really enjoyed what I smelled. I feel like he gets a bit of hate over his prices, however Roja is so non-pretentious and proud of his work. He’s always happy to talk about them and enjoys telling the stories behind them. He’s got a great attitude towards his work and I feel that is enough for anybody to take the time to give them a fair chance. As to the packaging. I love the bottles, hate the caps! -Chris
It smells expensive and unique. So if it would cheaper it just would be another creed aventus and not special to people anymore. Also keep in mind its not a big company which always tries to put best raw materials and as less as possible synthetic ones and does it in old fashion French perfumery style. Its not cheap to have company like this.
Hello Sam, another one of my favorite houses! Roja lived in Dubai for 3 years to research their fragrances and ouds. That is why he developed that collection.
Nice overview Sam, they all sound of high quality. I've purposely avoided trying most of these, I just can't face the prices and don't want to find myself "needing"" a bottle, so I am steering clear for now at least.
Hello. I'm just seeing your channel in my suggestion rhythm since I've been watching Roja videos lately. It's always refreshing to me when someone appears to take these reviews more personal by not just reading off the ingredient notes. (Not that I have anything against that) New subscriber here 😊 I'm a fan of this house with a decent sized collection. I feel that if you love his work, your favorite will change. Mine at the moment is PdV 25. Enjoyed your review. ❤
Great as always, so jealous of that line-up! Despite how much flak he gets for his prices and heavily drawing inspiration from some of his favorite classics, I feel like Roja Dove's fragrances are a great (albeit more expensive!) alternative for those who miss their perfume from yesteryear in its old formulations. The price point is high, yes, so I understand the criticism, but no one's being forced to buy any of his offerings. I will, however, say that the luxury price point alone seems to attract nouveau riche "worldly influencer" types, which is really interesting to me considering those same people are so often dismissive of certain vintage fragrances that these were inspired by as "old" and "grandma-like". I'm really interested in buying some of his fragrances myself, though I can't say I have been able to get myself to shell out that much just yet! As a chypre lover, Diaghilev really is something else, if a bit dense, and I also enjoyed layering Musk Aoud and Amber Aoud. Have yet to try Unspoken, though, but I've heard many good things about it. Do you have any experience with it, by any chance? Cheers and keep up the good work!
Thank you! I think you're right. It's funny how a luxury price tag and packaging can make people suddenly like something they otherwise wouldn't 🙂. Ah I haven't tried that one - I will let you know if I get a chance soon. 🌹Xo Sam
It’s not even that he’s charging crazy high prices for his perfumes. but they’re not worth it. He’s not using the best ingredients. He useds cheap Oud, if any at all, no real rose just geranium accords. I have Taif rose perfume and he’s not using Taif in his fragrances. Ppl are so naive. ROJA is ripping ppl off. He is incredibly greedy. He’s known to real perfumers, yeah they all know about him.
I just tried a decant of Roja Enslaved and was bit taken aback by the opening which smelled like bitter citrus. But I started to really enjoy it like 5 seconds in. You’re right, it has a “fatty” quality to it that makes it buttery and smooths out the citrus hit in the beginning. It takes on a very decadent dessert quality that lasts and lasts. I freaking love it. I think Roja is a preserver of classic fine perfumery because i honestly don’t see anyone else occupy that space. Maybe Chris Chong for his early releases like Memoir woman. But yeah, Roja is the guy! I just wish I could afford more of this stuff. The Essence concentrations are a bit disappointing, so I am just doing travel sprays or decants of the Parfums which have mostly turned out to be outstanding. To get things within reach of more people, he should put out 1 oz Parfum concentrations with his iconic beautiful caps and I’d be enslaved for life ;-).
Thank you Sam for introducing all of them there are so many, so many different and beautiful sounding ones. Not delved yet. I'm not overly sure whether I'd click, it's not the price, it is what it is and like you say we over pay on any luxury and I shiver when I think of what I've spent sometimes 🙊 it's more the style I think that stops me going there. Yet anyways
Thank you Jon for stopping by. I think if you're not usually into either vintages or Middle Eastern styles, then they may not be your cup of tea, but he does both quite well. 🌹Xo Sam
Roger Bird. Only tried a few from the house, but Musk Aoud, UAE, and Diaghilev were all amazing. I was not impressed with Enigma Parfum Cologne. Thanks for the review.
Well hello beautiful Sam! The green and pink combo on you today looks wonderful 😍🌺 Couldn't agree more with the fortnum and mason exclusive, very beautiful rose I wish I can get my hands on it one day. Ta'if rose is my fave 🌸 I see my baby enigma aoud such a gorgeous peach white floral beauty 🤗
I still love Enigma though.. I fell in love with it instantly and bought it but at the time I didn’t even know about the hype. I really want to try some of these- I think he is a fantastic artist and personality. He is SUCH a good perfumer. I want to try Diaghelev and 51:-)
I purchased Enigma Aoud because of you're review. Haven't had a change to wear it yet. I'm hoping its as good as you described it, nice review. Sweetie Aoud is next!!
Hi I just discovered your video and subscribed! I'm a big fan of Roja and totally agree with and love your descriptions! I'm dying to know your deeper thoughts on Chypre Extraordinaire... I own a full bottle of Diaghilev (love!) and Chypre Extraordinaire (obsessed!)... It's weird since I can admit that CE is pretty feminine if I am being honest (at least the first 30-60 mins) though the late dry down shares some similarities with Diaghilev (which I find a bit masculine!) haha... Anyway, great video and I'll be watching from now on! :)
Thanks for the video Sam, i absolutely agree with you on the perfum cologne line...i got enigma perfum cologne concentration and to me it doesn't last at all....btw, do you prefer M to fetish?
Hi Babe, although to me they are very reminiscent of older eras, I love this about them. I love to feel regal, and rich and these fragrances do exactly that.
I adore fragrance and food. Unfortunately, Covid took away my sense of smell and taste. Went from not being able to smell or taste anything for 2 months, to everything smelling and tasting like rancid roasted onion powder. By everything I mean EVERYTHING with the exception of water and very few fruits and vegetables. People including my own body odor reeks of that disgusting rancid roasted onion powder smell. I feel nauseous and miserable. I could also taste it and smell it on my breath. No one else can smell it but me. All of my fragrances reek of it. Haven’t been able to wear of them. It’s been 4 months now and I have no idea when or if I’ll get my sense of smell and taste back. Watching you describe what I can’t smell is a treat.
On the big screen, let’s go… Packaging of the bottles, I love itttttt! So so so beautiful. They are expensive but then Luxury ain’t cheap! Sweetie Aoud I’ve tried and it’s sweet gourmand, very pleasurable. Diaghilev I bought a 7.5ml and had to get rid! I never got to enjoy it at all, but it’s powerful and one heck of an all damn day frag! It is strong as heck! Tried Kuwait and Qatar from the MidEast lines and love them both! UAE now u said it, I’ll go hunt it down.
12:36 hmm I didn’t get pencil shavings at all from Roja Ti Amo. I did get dark chocolate with a bit of orange blossom in the first 20 minutes but the dry down is a well blended powdery floral where I can’t really pick any specific notes out but it smells like I’m the Dutchess of somewhere. It feels like I should be dressed up to match the magnificence and “grown up” beauty of this fragrance. It is most definitely not an everyday wearing fragrance, and TBH, what Roja is ?
One of the most beautiful luxury houses. Roja does a wonderful westernized aoud. I love his scents, even though the price hurts my wallet. My faves are Enigma Aoud, Reckless, and amber aoud.
Hi Sam, I have Elixir Essence. You are the most unique. One question, I would like to know if you have heard about Trusardy le vie di Milano and Valmont perfumes, I have doubts to buy them
Yes I've waited for this for a while. Thanks Sam, I can't wait to go to Burlington Arcade again. Roja is quality if you find a perfume you love from his collection you won't be disappointed.
My favourite perfume brand and my best RU-vid reviewer....hands down!! Awesome review Sam as ever. I would also suggest to check out Black Tier and PDNL 1,2&3 🔥. Take care my dear and I look forward to your next review 😘
Aww that is extremely sweet. Oo sounds nice, I am afraid to like any more than I already do, but I will go try some mor. Have a wonderful day my friend. 🌹Xo Sam
Hi Sam 🌹 great video about Roja thank you! I’m curious about the brand & haven’t tried any of them yet. I’ve heard ‘51’ is a good place to start. Can you tell me your thoughts? Also , I heard you mention that you enjoy cardamom in fragrances ❤️ I wonder if you’ve heard of the house La Closerie des Parfums? They have a Rose Cardamom scent that is incredible. I wonder if you know it? Thanks again for another great video! 🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
Can you help me please. I love Amouage opus silver oud in the new bottle but I don’t wanna spend $500. Can you tell me a very close alternative or clone.
Hello friend, I totally enjoyed this, but I must confess that I find the Roja line to be hit or miss (also I despise the gauche bottles). Despite what might appear to be harsh words, I do enjoy sweetie aoud, de la nuit 3 and sometimes oligarch.
Hi dear, that is totally understandable, thanks for sharing! For me, the price-style ratio didn't add up at first, but after my first bottle, I'm hooked. 🌹Xo Sam
Loved this so much !! Thanks for doing that video my friend ! I only have Qatar and I'm looking to get more into Roja so this is super helpful ❤❤❤❤ merciii :)
Sam!!! Noooooo!!! Now I MUST try Enslaved, but I know I cannot afford it 😩😂 wonderful video 💞 Diaghilev is amazing and I treasure my little second hand banged up bottle of it 🙏
What fragrances would you say are similar to diaghalev? I'm asking because I had a sample and I find it similar to YSL Rive gauche. What's your thought? Thank you ❤❤❤
Does "M" by Pure Distance have some of the Roja Dove aromatic DNA? I am trying to find my first ever true Roja. Argh! I love all notes! Sweetie Aoud, well, this is my 2nd decant :)
Thanks Juliett, if you love your vintages or Middle Eastern inspired opulent fragrances, then this may be your cup of tea. But you can find others reminiscent of these at lower price points I'm sure. 🌹Xo Sam
I would really like to own more from the Roja line. With the price tag, it’s almost impossible right now. I just ordered Enigma Parfum a couple days ago. I’ve never smelled it. Complete blind buy…so I hope I like it. Even if I don’t, I know I want have an issue selling it. I’m just curious to know how you feel about Enigma Parfum? Please share your experience. Holla.
@@MyWorldofFragrance thank you for your feedback and advice. I really value you and your passion for fragrances. Additionally, I really appreciate that give information about each fragrance based on your own nose and not what you think others want to hear. Sometimes I feel some reviewers give inaccurate reviews because they maybe receiving free bottles from the brand…feeling that they have to say a lot of good things about the brand to continue receiving kickbacks. Don’t get me wrong, I understand, but embellishing (simply for that reason) is very misleading. There are certain reviewers who I trust to be as honest as they can be, without being disrespectful towards any brand. You are one of those reviewers. OH WOW…my door bell, literally, just rang!!! MY ENIGMA IS HERE!!! 👏🏽😁. Thank you 💕
@@traybrook Thank you so much, I appreciate it that. I find there's no use in not saying what you think, because how else will people know what's actually good... Amazing. I hope you love it. 🌹Xo Sam
@@MyWorldofFragrance 💕. By the way, it smells really good. After the Coca Cola/Cognac opening subsides, it reminds me of a refined version of TF’s Tobacco Vanille. I can’t wait to really test it out. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Sweet Aoud is one of my favorite fragrances! I also have a bottle of Elixir Essence parfum. I agree better to invest in the parfum.Based on your description I need to try A Goodnight Kiss, been looking for a good violet scent.
Great video as always Sam. I spritzed my torso with fetish in your honour today. After eating nearly 30 chicken wings last night my torso wasn't feeling so sexy but now it is.
I wear it more now. Every chance I get. The pandemic made me wear it🤣 Just the other day I wore it at work and the positive compliments received was😍amazing Expensive house (Roja) but well worth it
I shudder every time I hear and see fetish , it's the only bottle I've ever broken. I smashed a brand new one and lost it all 🤢 but my rood did smell sensational for well it still smells like it 🤣
I stupidly blind bought Diaghilev and really it doesn’t deserve the hype. Seriously it’s not all that good. Neither are any on your list. I prefer anything by Areej Le Dore over most of ROJA perfumes. I don’t mind paying crazy high perfume prices IF they’re worth it . But when a perfumer like ROJA is a greedy slob who just charges high prices for the hell of it, it pisses me off. Yes I too love Amber AOUD absolute precioux but he’s crazy charging over $1000 for only 30mls. Or maybe I should say we are the idiots for paying that much. The reason I mentioned Areej Le Dore is because he actually is a master perfumer, he also travels the world to find the rarest, purest, oldest and most expensive ingredients for his perfumes but he doesn’t charge crazy high prices. I got Grandenia 30mls for about $250 and I tell u honestly this perfume beats any of Rojas creations. I have 3 back up bottles . I never wanna be without this beautiful intoxicating perfume. A drop lasts all day. And I can’t take my nose off my wrist. Mmmmm….. Meanwhile my bottle of Amber AOUD becomes a skin scent in just a couple of hours. Despicable Mr Dove. Just despicable . I can’t wait til ppl stop paying u the exorbitant high prices that you don’t deserve for your perfumes. I’d pay $1500 for a bottle of Areej Le Dore Antiquity before I ever waste a dollar on any of Rojas overpriced perfumes. I agree some are very nice and even beautiful but they are seriously not worth the prices. Believe me that he is not using real Oud or real rose oil in his perfumes . It’s all aroma chemicals and accords. And for the price, you’d think he would at least give us real Oud, and real rose. But no. They are extremely expensive ingredients and ROJA is all about profit and filling his pockets. Educate yourself ppl. Another huge crook perfume house is ……Creed. As if u didn’t know.
