I am going to make another one and do a video of it in the next couple weeks. I also found a much faster and easier way to make the lamp switch in a valve that I think is the best one on youtube that I will be sharing. This was a super fast build. Thank you!
Like your Steam Punk lamp. Very Kool!! I need to know something I really don't know about... Paint?? Interior paint to be specific. I live in a 3 story apt. Moved in 3 1/2 years ago. The land lady and her hubby is very nice. Guessing had a 1000 worker doing paint jobs over the years. I a guy who like to do stuff. I want to paint my bed room. Found some paint in the basement( 1/2 gal.1gal. and 5 gal.) cans. So I stared opening them UP(On FEAR!!). That is kool,but first can had a film of RUST on top(so I know that is Bad). But my question to you is .... How to tell if the paint in the can is still OK to use?
Usually two things. If it stinks, it's bad. If it has formed weird lumps you can't mix out out it, it's bad. If you open a can and it's separated, like clear liquid on the top and thick stuff on the bottom, that is fine and normal as long as you can mix it all up together.
Bad paint stinks. It will also from globs you can't mix up. If paint is in a place where it freezes, it is bad after a few freeze cycles and will have globs of junk that won't mix together anymore. OIl based paints will separate and you won't be able to mix the clear and colored parts together again but oil paint separates regardless of whether it is good or bad so stir it to find out. Even if it's stiff, it may still work. Another tip: if you find frozen paint and you want to know if it's good, put it in a room temperature environment 60-80 degrees fahrenheit) and do nothing. Let is defrost naturally. Don't try to rush it with heat or hot water, it will make the paint bad. If it's the first, second, third freeze cycle, it may still be good. Side note, I have used paint that stinks and it worked fine. I don't know what the downfall is, perhaps it breaks down in luster or durability. I still don't know. I painted, it smelled then it dried and didn't smell. I am not recomending it, but maybe worth some more research.
