Really great review; thorough and in plain language. To Omega XiS: I have ATH M40x and M50X, neither are as comfortable,and have very different sound signatures. They are closed as opposed to semi open.

BTW: B has decreased bass, F has increased bass and without letters 668 has neutral bass.

If you bought these in 2017 don't try to adjust the head of the "fingers". I broke mine. There are not longer adjustable. Was so surprised that I didn't looked close enough to notice that they are different! ;)

Great review and I was surprised that other reviews on other sites have given excellent ratings to Superlux HD668D. I was trying to make up my mind between AKG 240 or Superlux HD668D and after seeing your review I will be getting the Superlux. AKG 240 is just below $100 while Superlux is barely $40. I can afford the AKG 240 but I'm a true believer in "best buy for the money" and have done so in just about everything I buy. I can't get over the fact that for the price ($37.95 at Amazon) it rates so well among audiophile enthusiasts and highly recommended as well. We are not saying that they can stand up to high end headphones way over the $200 or $300 range BUT their in the same field. Build quality is very good and so is sound performance so why should I spend more??? Thanks for your valued review. I will get them as soon as I finish this comment. Thanks... George

gearbest( . )com. They only sell real items. Headphones are 26 dollars now ( I used some GB points). However, it came with badly glued head cushion. Fixed it with super glue but still got offered new pair without returning this one or full refund to GB wallet (can be only used to buy from them, no cash out). Rule of thumb is to use paypal buying from china. Also, keep in mind they have quite strong clamping power if you have big head like me.

Dragonfly Black and the HiFiMan velour pads will completely transform your listening experience with these cans - everything from comfort to sound quality. If you want comfort out of the box from a similar headband design, ATH--AD700 are a better choice (for more $$$). You wont be wearing either on the bus or anywhere outside the privacy of your own home.

How would you compare these to the Basstyle TH-5001? If you've heard of them. Because right now, I'm torn between the two because I listen to all types of music and don't really care for anything too bass-y, also I don't have any amps or anything, I only will be using my mobile Android device with an equalizer. Very nice review, but I need some advice. I've got these headphones and probably want to get an amp for them to sound better. The only problem with that is that my soundcard is pretty crappy. Does the soundcard affect the amp? And also, which amp should I get? And by the way, I'm not using them in a studio or something like that, I use them for gaming and music on my PC.

You want a DAC, which will act as a sound card and some of them are also an amplifier (i.e. Fiio E10k).

i use a sounblaster e1 that is only amplifier and sound great. Definitely recomended amplifier with this headphones. Probaby the best option is to buy a asus dgx or dg that is both amplifier and dedicated sound card and pretty cheap.maybe ill do it some day

To be completely honest both of them will have downfalls, especially with overly compressed music like metal. For a little bit more money, you could either get the Sennheiser HD280 Pro or the Audio-technica ATH-M40x both will have FLATTER frequency responses which will allow you to hear more of the songs without clipping.

So I'm not very knowledgeable about headphones, what does an amp do? Does it just make the headphones louder or dose it improve the overall sound? Also if it does improve the overall sound, what's a good amp in the $50 range?

Dwa Pak With some headphones, an amplifier will greatly improve sound quality. With others, it will only seem to make your music louder. How do you tell? Generally speaking, headphones with a large nominal impedance (80 ohms or more) will benefit from an amplifier. Headphones with a lower impedance (32 ohms or less) rarely benefit from an amp.

Why does it have a detachable cord then negate some of the benefit of that by giving it a little bit of wire sticking out? It's just looks like they have given it a week spot for the wire to fray. It looks perfect otherwise and hell for the money I'm just going to get one anyway.

I'm not so sure about calling these studio headphones. I work in a television broadcast studio and I mix audio, fix audio and quality control many post house audio mixes before they make it to air. After seeing all the reviews I bought these for listening to music not mixing. They don't sound completely flat or neutral which is very important when using headphones as reference. I find them bright sounding and lacking resolution so I would never consider this for professional or home studio monitor use. If you mix audio with this because the treble is lifted a bit you will blindly miss that treble in the final mix. 2 good mixing/studio headphones on a budget is the Audio Technica ATH-M40x or the Sony MDR-7506. These are around 100$ and provide the closest match to flat from 20hz-20khz. I work with completely calibrated equipment that is RTA'd and equalized, phase adjusted and void of any imperfection so my ears are used to what flat sounds like for monitors and headphones. Then once the mix is done we cross reference what it sounds like on musical consumer headphones and speakers that will have more bass and more treble typically.

Bear123, Thankyou for clarifying that for some of our viewers. You are correct, they aren't really studio headphones, but they are a fairly close match to them for this price range. As you must know, you don't need to break the bank to have a good pair of studio monitors. We made this video because we received several requests for a $40-$50 studio headphone. rizzometal92 They are going to sound much, much better with an amp. You can still listen without one, but the 668B has a relatively high impedance.

May someone please tell me all the disadvantages of using these pair of headphones on mobile devices because of its 56ohms. I know that it won't be as loud but are there any other disadvantages because if not then these are great for me as I don't care much for really loud audio.

The Range might not be as good. To be honest, if you are looking for more powerful headphones these aren't the ones for you, and you may consider a closed back headphone in a higher price range if you are looking for really loud headphones. I would recommend the pioneer HDJ 1500( audio46.com/?min_price=0&max_price=184&s=hdj+1500&post_type=product ) the drivers in them are really powerful.

Takstar Pro 82s are 55 bucks on ebay. Very VERY comfortable, great as well, detachable cable, bass boost switches, that arent dog shit (I do think all the way cranked up is a huge fucking leap from mid way tho)

I wouldn't. While I personally have not tried these headphones & they are marketed as DJ Headphones, I am reading that there is a Bass boost Which can become muddy. ALL Professional DJs should look for Analytical headphones that have even Bass responses and good isolation. Most "DJ Headphones" are actually the exact opposite of what a DJ should be using. I'd look into something like Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Or Audio-technica ATH-M40x they are both in the same Price range and will be more appropriate headphones for the purpose of Djing -Ryan Audio46

I enjoy the sound of the Superlux more than the Monoprice but both are good buys. They are pretty much opposites though, with the Superlux being bright and having a focus on soundstage and are open so they do not block out sound and the Monoprices being closed back and more portable friendly, with more of a focus on the low end than the highs and nearly no soundstage. Both are great but it depends on your preferences and how you would use the headphones.

No they don't, however if you are serious about your production you should get better quality headphones to mix with. These aren't bad, but I wouldn't recommend using them for mixing.

Ian, You should be fine with mobile useage. I would worry more about them being open-back, and not ideal for on-the-go useage, than I would the impedance

+abraham baluz yea, no mic though, what i did was i bought a cheap $7 zalman mic you can find on amazon that clips on the cable and a converter that makes it so you can plug both the mic and headphones into the controller, sounds better than $150 headsets on both ends mic and headphones.

Audio is low because they are 56Ohms, sound better on a pc or something that can output more power, for ps4 32Ohms or lower would be a bit better, i use them on my ps4, xb1, and PC. Sound much better on the PC but not bad everywhere else
