@@AndriesdeHaan Well you don't need the best of the best to get started but having better equipment ofc def does speed up the process/make things easier. A really experienced producer can make something nice out of cheap stuff but a beginneer can't make something nice even with expensive stuff.

Using Smaart software along with the Earthworks M30 mic, I was able to witness someone test the frequency response curve of the more common near field studio monitors. Genelec 8050B, KRK Rokit 8, Adam A7X, Focal Shape 65 (My favorite), Event 20/20 BAS, Mackie 824, Behringer Truth, and ofcourse the Yamaha NS10. Surprisingly, (besides some companies charts not being accurate) Behringer and Mackie had the flatest frequency response charts. So, when considering both the price and the consistency in mixes one can gain. I would recommend either of the two to both beginners and people on a budget. That being said I own a pair of KRKs and hope to eventually get a nice pair of the Focal Shape 65.

Great video man! Yamaha HS 8 W, enough said. I even use them to listen to music all the time now. Direct connection to my 1970's Yamaha YP700 record deck. I love being able to pick out different instruments in the final mix. My vinyl feels more a live than ever. Its how the finished product sounded, its how I want to listen in. Once you start down this path, there is no returning back to a HiFi system :-)

I have the Yamaha HS8’s+hs8sw together setting the top speakers to higher sound frequency and letting the sub work it’s magic I found together this setup gives a great final mix the separation is precise.clarity is👍🏾

Hey Archie, definitely like the passion! I've just stumbled upon this review, adding my 2ct: For a "very special" (and unexpected) ad-hoc project of church-organ music production (535 songs with 10k phrases to piece and patch together) I"ve ordered the KRK Rokit 8 G4 and some other gear. After leaving my (Genelec-equipped) studio behind some 20 years ago and on a different continent, I was very surprised: +1 on the Fantastic Sound, especially for that price tag! To me they sound pretty much like the DT-990 pro (yes, still using them ever since) and even better than the old Gen's 1029a (without subwoofer). - However, I did have to send them back 3 weeks later - The many small pieces (10k) require a lot of silent time, every 30 sec for 5-15 sec or more, and I could not stand the noise floor. Pity, I remember earlier versions of KRK but don't recall that noise in the 60.. So, while "in use" that's probably not an issue for most, I hope this improves, and again, the sound itself: +1 from me. (Maybe I have to put up with the design-choices of genelec going forward) - unless you have a tip of other "noise-less" monitors for say, half the price? Cheers & good waves folks! :)

6:15 that's what I've been pointing out about krk's. I usually overmeasure bass levels when I judge the track on these. rap artists usually enjoy the sound, but it's harder to differentiate levels on these, nonetheless good monitors.
