I ended up in the hospital for 2 months and lost 30 pounds (the bad way) from having gut dysbiosis. Fast forward to now and I can attest that your stomach is pretty much the gateway to everything about how you feel. I can tell when I eat something bad because my anxiety spikes, it's insane how intelligent our stomachs are. Take the time to do a good probiotic and prebiotic regimen but ALSO focus on eliminating the stuff that causes the dysbiosis in the first place. It's worth it! Best thing I've ever done. I would rank it first in front of Omega3's and reducing inflammation, but really they all go hand in hand.
@@naturalbreed3745 Hard to say specifically. There's no one true reason. You have to sit there and think about what you're adding to your life and slowly remove or replace bad habits, This can be: eating too late before bed, too many proteins undigested, eating too frequently, eating the wrong things, alcohol, etc. The list goes on and on. I can show you methods that I do and I love talking about these topics. Hmu on IG johndantemingione
When I started eating more fibre, especially legumes, gas was a problem. Yet, I discovered that moderate daily intake reduced the side effect. I really think my system is becoming colonised with helpful bacteria. I enjoyed this information, as it was always unclear how to time intake.
Gas is not always a bad thing. Sometimes it can be quite the relaxing, relieving experience we all crave from time to time. Just like the song goes: "Beans, beans, the magical food - The more you eat, the more you toot! The more you toot, the better you feel. Beans, beans, for every meal!"
I have been using Seed Synbiotics after hearing you advocate them. They are absolutely amazing. I suffer from Chronic Gastrointestinal Motility Disorder/IBS and Seed has really helped improve my symptoms. Great results.
My probiotic supplement specifically says to take it with food, so not sure whether to trust that or not. There seems to be a lot of conflicting information on this.
I gotta say, I tried one of those Olipop drinks, root beer flavor, before ever seeing this recommendation, at it was really very good! Quite impressive given it being healthy! 👍👍
I really appreciate your video here cuz it's really helping me set the record straight and I looked at that journal article. Awesome.... I just started taking a GI balance and after my resection surgery which was many years ago and I realized that I need help and so I'm really glad that you set the record straight so I'm taking it an hour before any meal to really ensure that it's on an empty stomach. Thank you very much for caring about people
T.D. has lost a lot of credibility. He knows full well that probiotics are useless! The only way to truly influence your gut microbiome is through diet. Period! EOS!
Best time of day to take (traditional) probiotics is when you wake up. This is when your stomach & bile acids are at the lowest PH. I mix a variety of prebiotic fibers in the afternoon either in water or yogurt. Soil Based Organism probiotics can be taken with or without food as they resist stomach acids regardless.
Michael could l ask you a question please? If l take a probiotic first thing in the morning with water would a 1 cup of coffee have an adverse effect on the probiotic? A reply would be greatly appreciated!
@@smokenjoe4022 Depending on the strains it’s best to wait about ½ hour after taking them before consuming the (hot) coffee. Iced coffee should be fine. Soil based organisms (probiotics) are more resistant and can be taken with coffee.
I understand the best way to take probiotics when there are two meals involved, but what about when you're doing OMAD? Would it still be best 30-60 minutes before you eat? Maybe they should be taken with a tiny amount of food (1 sardine, for example) to stabilize the stomach a bit?
if you are doing a prolonged fast. then before you eat take your pro biotics then. thiat way they are not digested and get right into the intestiens where they need to be. or eat your salad and wait for you to have processed it then take them. If its a saurkraut or edible probiotic you are taking then eat that first to break the fast it will be the best for you anyway. but if you are only doing a 16-20h fast then it really doesn't matter.
@@MaradnusHi! I just finished a 3-day fast for the first time in my life. Was told to take prebiotic and probiotic b4 breaking my fast with bone broth. So which one (probiotic or prebiotic) should I take first? I'm so confused. Thanks
@@tam8479 Probiotics are really good for the intestinal tract. and best taken before bed after haveing digested all your dinner. So the longer you leave the Probiotics the better as you don't want to take them and then eat food and have you digesting food kill off most of the probiotics. Pro biotics are the supplement and cant be digested. Prebiotics are from diet and are more hardy so survive the journey of digestion. Hope this helps. Good on you for the 3day fast!!!! eat good clean food for the next few days. Loads of salads. good green olive oil. Avacados. you know the good stuff.
This video was a wealth of knowledge! Thank you very much. Just shared it with all my friends & family. Just bought a subscription to Olipop, too! 🙏🏻👋🏻👍🏻
Inulin is classified as a type of dietary fiber that consists of fructose units linked together in a chain. Structurally, it falls under the category of oligosaccharides, which are considered short-chain fibers. While it’s longer than simple sugars like glucose and fructose, it’s categorized as a short-chain fiber due to its relatively shorter molecular structure compared to other complex carbohydrates like cellulose or starch.
At about 0:30-0:55 sec. What he states verbally directly contradicts the quote he uses from the study. He claims probiotic survival is poor taken with a meal and 30 minutes after a meal. The study quoted says that survival of the bacteria was BEST when taken with a meal and also when given 30 minutes before a meal. Only poor survival occurred taking the probiotic 30 minutes after a meal. I could see a a one sentence misstatement but he spends nearly half a minute doubling down on his error. A symptom of being a yt mouthpiece rather than being a real expert.
@@aaronshaffer7202 He said probiotics should NOT be taken with food, whereas the study he shows on screen says it is best to take probiotics with food or 30 min before food.
This seems to conflict with the strategy of one of your sponsors, Seed. Seed puts both in a capsule and suggest taking two capsules a day but at the same time. As a Seed customer is there a solution to the discrepancy between the information in this video and their strategy or am I misinterpreting something?
@@myasar974 Treat seed as a probiotic. The whole "both at the same time" is more of a marketing gimmick than it is helpful. Personally, I rotate fermented vegetables that I make at home. Diverse. Cheap af. That being said, Seed seems solid and they seem like a good company but the fact that they are both pro and pre at the same time just isn't logical. Plus we don't know enough to make the claim that this is even helpful.
That Olipop soda is absolutely delicious. But the price is just out of the world ridiculous, strong pass. I buy 1 can from Whole Foods once every couple months.
I purchased the Seed ds-01 per your recommendation. I forgot and drank my morning water with salt, lime, and cider vinegar. Should I wait after that drink, for awhile? How long? Also drinking my Danger decaf coffee. Is that okay too or do I need to change my morning routine? Thanks,
Can u talk about digestive enzymes. I have a supplement that includes digestive enzymes prebiotic and probiotic. I take it right before I consume food. Usually dinner.
I have found, taking digestive enzymes, 10-15mins before consuming meals, helps out a ton! It really depends on your micro biome - your ability to break foods down. I know it’s quite vague, but a lot of things regarding digestion, unfortunately at this time are. Do what works for you :)
Get a food/allergen test folks. Went two years on my Keto journey suffering odd gut and skin issues. Never had an allergy in my life, but never really ate many eggs, ever, until I went KETO. Found out I have a huge reaction to egg whites and of all things Broccoli. My two KETO staples. $2k later and Kaiser could never figure it out. Sent in a test to Everywell.com and they had the answer back in a week. If you are new to KETO you are eating different things than you were before, in different/increased quantities. GET TESTED. That never seems to be a subject here or on Dr Berg's channel. $125 and super convenient. Will save you months of agony, learn from my mistake.
Tommy, you are a master salesman. You always put the product in the right place at the right time and give it a purpose for being there. I don't even get mad when you try to sell me something in the middle of your videos because it's always something useful and it's usually a good deal. Any sponsors or companies out there looking for someone to sell your merch? Tommy is your guy. Hopefully advertisers will take notice. This is the art of the sale.
Im so confused! I bought a good quality probiotic/prebiotic but it is TOGETHER in a capsule. Also, I do IF - specifically OMAD. So how on earth do I take my pill, when they should be between meals and at different times? I eat 4-5 diner for only meal.
@@ddcrocky3831 Sure, it’s seed.com. 😅 I’ve been taking those for two months now. Learned a lot from them and great customer support. I’m not sure if there are any direct health benefits I’ve noticed as I combined it with regular exercise and healthier eating habits (e.g. fasting and supplements).
What you are saying makes sense but then I got so confused when I read the instructions on the GNC probiotic product. Direction was to "take with food". I m wrapping up a 3-day fast. According to Dr. Mindy Pelz, I should properly break my fast by taking prebiotic first then probiotic b4 starting eating normal. This seems to be contradictory to your teaching. Help!
Wait a minute... I bought the symbiotic Seed upon your recommendation, which is both a pre and probiotics in one. Here, however, you’re saying to take one with food and the other without. What am I supposed to do with a symbiotic then?
I get a symbiotic from DoTERRA and I take it at night as I go to bed. I used to take it first thing in the morning, I just found I kept forgetting if I was in a rush, so I switched to night and it has been fine either way!
But Thomas the direction on the label tells us to take the probiotic with our meal so we just follow. So should we ignore it and take it in accordance with your recommendation?
Would food sources of probiotics change the timing? I feel like this was covering more of supplement POV, but what about sauerkraut and kimchi? Would that act as a combo of pro and pre biotic because of the cabbage?
You can't exactly consume a food away from eating food.. so for food probiotics timing isn't as relevant. You can eat a forkfull or 2 on an empty stomach in the morning if worried
So I have been getting more supplements in. Calcium, Coq10 as I take a statin, Omega 3, Folic Acid.... Are probiotics something I use like one of these supplements? A daily use supplement? Or???
Good video olipop soda can it be purchased in stores like Wal-Mart or safeway? Can you drink olipop soda with food? Good information about when to take probiotics and prebiotics.
It also depends on your health. If you have skin issues then it would be a different strain to depression. Many illnesses can be a symptom a deficiency or imbalance. You can do testing to find out though. There are some RU-vid bloggers who are also doctors focusing on gut health
@@littlevoice_11 Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if he can show us the correct way of reading the labels and picking up the one with good ingredients as he did it in the past for multivitamins.

Excellent probiotic drink is kombucha from Better Booch, they also make a prebiotic drink called Cha. I haven’t tried it yet but I have ordered it. Very happy with the better booch results.
Im taking a seed almost week nothing changed yet , was taking before I go to bed , just afraid to take in the morning because I’m not sure it’s brake my fast or not ?
Can I take prebiotic at nightine about 10pm when I go to bed? This is about 2 hours after eating. Don't think I would remember otherwise outside of meals.
