@@nomadkeller8612 a used one will cost as much as its original MSRP so I’m not sure why you would be interested in that when you can just get a new Integra
I agree...when buying Acura, look for the ones with SH-AWD. We put a lot of miles on my cars (around 50k per year) and prefer slightly used, reliable and dependable vehicles. We bought our first Honda product in 2006 (Used Off-Lease 2004 Honda Pilot EXL) and was hooked on Honda products. A couple of years later, I purchased an Off-Lease 2005 Acura RL...WOW...Amazing car. Since then, I've bought (all off-lease vehicles, all Advance models) 2012 Acura MDX, 2014 Acura MDX, 2 separate 2017 Acura MDX's, and just purchase a couple of months ago a 2019 Acura MDX. What amazing vehicles! I'm convinced Honda products will last forever if you maintain them.
I had a ‘13 AWD RDX Tech that due to the situation of my family ended up getting passed along to my brother, who totaled it this past January. I still think about it often. That car was an awesome blend of simple luxury, performance and comfort. Went car shopping again this summer for a daily and ended up with a 66,000 mile, 2008 TL. I always loved this design and honestly I enjoy the nimbler and simpler nature of the TL as a true car enthusiast that has never been and will never be, impressed by overpriced and over complicated new cars. Very happy with my purchase. Oh! And I forgot to mention, no car payment.
I own a 2014 TL Special Edition and it’s the most reliable car I’ve ever had. I’ve had it for almost 7 years and I’ve only had to change the battery and a serpentine belt plus normal maintenance
I bought my 2014 Acura TL in 2017 from an Acura dealership. It was certified, and I've driven the heck out of it, and always get my scheduled maintenance...so far, so good. I'm thinking about an Acura RDX, or the Lexus NX for my next vehicle. Maybe the Camry XSE hybrid, if I decide to get a sedan.
Great video and complete info on what not to do and what to do. The two vehicles are great also as long as maintenance was kept up. The oil consumption is real. I own two acura TL SH AWD in the 5 speed auto and 6 speed manual. I don't believe in financing myself but to reach its own. I own my cars because I don't want to be obligated to a payment. Research is your biggest thing to do. Carfax, mechanic check and records on used car is best way to go with used cars. I am big on checking background if possible
lol nice, I have both these vehicles - 2012 TL sh-awd 6 speed manual, and 2018 RDX elite. the RDX with the V6 is less fun to drive imo because it uses the conventional AWD system instead of sh-awd.
I got my RDX for 13k out the door it’s been super reliable and fun to drive. It’s got plenty of power and drive better than lots of new cars. There is a headlight issue where the reflectors get messed up so your low beams become super dim. New headlights are like 300 bucks so not the worst replacement cost. I would seriously recommend the car!
Im looking at a 2015 RDX, it came from NY, based in Cali here! Noticed some rust on the undercarriage how's yours looking? Plus how long have you had it. Sorry for the many questions but honestly fell in love with the car :D
How good is that Hendrick Autoguard warranty? Looking around and considering getting an extended warranty for my 2019 RDX and I missed the chance to get Acura's extended warranty.
@@tedangle8224 I understand you’re simply parroting what this matrix tells you and if you’re genuinely not good with numbers that’s a fine strategy. A car loan calculator and a compound interest calculator would tell you otherwise… if you had $10k in a savings account earning 2% interest and took out a car loan for 3% interest, you would actually come out on top parking your money earning less interest. Again most don’t bother to research anything for themselves anymore. Do as you please. God Bless.
@@MeynMotorGroupWhat the matrix tells you? most people say finace a car. if you pay cash you have the ability to change your budget, sell the car at a whim for something more suited ie bigger family, towing o or even a lifestyle downgrade if things get tight. plus you save the dealer premium get a ber trim
Also, I feel it’s worth mentioning that a big reason these cars burn oil is the Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) system. It’s the system that deactivates some of the cylinders during times when full power isn’t needed like coming to a stop, etc. That system creates problems due to changes in thermal energy throughout different parts of the engine and should always be disabled. I had it disabled on my previous ‘13 RDX. My ‘08 TL is thankfully too old to have it lol.
So THIS is why the value skyrocketed all of a sudden… bro this is my dream car, I FINALLY bought it at $5k. a lot of miles, but I’m just glad I was able to find it within budget.
I have an Acura TL 10 and got it in the year 2013. I still have it and the aesthetics of it. For those that don’t know about the Acura TL they still tell me if that’s a new car lol 🤣. I believe 2010 Acuras was a head of their time.
Bought a 2011 TSX in 2014 w 19K for 25K for my daughter, she moved to NYC and overseas so now I have it as well as my 97 Nissan XE truck and 2011 Cruze , Bothe with manuals. That Acura is a nice car, and for long road trips I prefer it, but otherwise I love driving the old school sticks.... ... and I can see why you prefer the TL, it looks a lot bigger than the TSX, but it's not.
I see one of the complaints on the TL was excessive cabin noise at 7:49, and I can attest to that after I test drove a new 2011 TL. Acura added a lot of sound dampening material starting in 2012, so if you hate noise, get that year or newer. I bought a new 2013 TL 3.5L FWD and it is pleasantly quiet and still rattle free and reliable after 10 years. Best car I ever owned. I would not recommend the 3.7L V6 with SH-AWD however, that engine is the one that leaks oil.
3.7l leaks oil? - Wrong! You meant "burns" oil. And even that is not true. - Some do that weren't maintained properly with regular oil changes and only using 91 octane gasoline, causing carbon build-up on the piston rings.
Got my used 2007 Acura RL for $5300 with 124k miles. It has 172k now 3 years later and I couldn't be happier. They're difficult to find but such a great car, I've dropped $3-4k getting tires, new motor mounts, timing belt and water pump, coil packs, rotors, struts.. but all of that is basic maintenance with such a high mileage car. She's a gem and I plan on running it to 300k if I can make it.
I agree! I bought a used 2005 RL coming off-lease in 2008 and it was an amazing vehicle. Acura didn't market this vehicle very much so it was sort of a "best kept secret". You should have no trouble getting 300k!
Yo I had to laugh when you mentioned topping off oil gets expensive... A quart of oil is $10-15 I pay $8 every day to cross a bridge to get to work if you need to add a full quart every month at the end of the year you spent $120-180, how many years are you going to buy oil before you get to the $3000-4000 cost, just burn the oil. Lol
I totally understand going into Lease, im currently looking around, and ALL the Leases 8 have seen want between $1700--$4000 down payment. Then you pay $600 a month. My credit is temporarily challenged But putting $3K-$4K down on a lrase puzzles me.🤯🤔🤯
Yea you should never put money down on a lease except for first months payment if they ask for it and if you live in a state that wants you to pay taxes up front that’s fine too but other than that, never put money down. If your credit is challenged then it’s not surprising that they ask for money down. Leasing is not great and can be difficult for bad credit.
I agree the TL is the sum of its parts. Its not my first choice but is a great pick. If I was in the market for a DD sedan: Mazda6, Camry/ES, or TL would have my attention
@@MeynMotorGroup I tried to get my wife to get the Type-S but she insisted on a Red Sport. Even though it hasn't changed in damn near a decade, I like it. It doesn't have that steer by wire anymore
The only issues I have with my 4G TL sh-awd 6sp manual tech. Was the oil consumption and the interior seats the side bolsters would tear. Other than that, it's worth getting the oil consumption fixed. It is the best handling and driving experience with the SH-AWD 6sp manual. I WILL NEVER let mine go. It is an icon to have because it was a limited production with the SH-AWD 6 sp manual.
not sure how it is in the states, but in Canada right now the monthly payments for leasing a new vehicle is pretty much the same as financing…would you still consider leasing a good option?
There’s a lot that goes into that, one of the first things to figure out is what the interest rate is on the lease. Sometimes it’s not just about the payments but depending on the vehicle there are certain incentivized lease programs, lower interest means you lease payments are going more towards principal so you should have positive equity at the end of the lease. You have a set buy out rate so you’re not on the hook for the depreciation after 3 years the dealer is. Also you may get certain rebates from the manufacturer for leasing. Lot to research and consider every car is different. Here in the states, the Integra is an amazing lease deal even compared to pre pandemic
I did a vid on the ZDX a while back linked here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q-0oEGepke4.html It'll pretty much hold up like the MDX you can see more details on NHTSA.gov if you're interested 👍
Thanks for your quick response! I watched that video a week ago but really wanted to know what I’m in for in repairs down the road. The X6 would drain me out and I trust Japanese cars a little more. The MDX video was an eye opener in that regard.
Double standard for sure, I hate Honda transmissions, and I've been owning them my whole life. You and Savagegeese really have me obsessed with Lexus, especially a clean LS460, but my wife thinks its too old-man-esque.
Yea definitely a double standard as you said, LS 460 is absolutely amazing but the cost and maintenance is probably not worth it, I just recommend to most people the ES or RX
Yeah i guess lexus is just the perfect vehicle🤣 ironic that my 2016 es350 transmission crapped out on me its crazy how much you guys know🤔 im back in a 2017 tlx and couldnt be happier. I guess im the one guy whos transmission has no issues 🤷🏿♂️
I’m in a pickle. I know financing a car is stupid right now, but it’s my only option. I’ve been looking for a few weeks and am stuck between 2 vehicles. A 2011 Lexus 600hl with 44k miles or a 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD with 44k as well. Would love to know what you would choose. Also the Lexus is about 4 thousand more. Amazing video by the way! Perfect timing for me! Lol
I am a proud owner of a 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD with Technology Package purchase in 2018 with 19K miles. Hands down buy the TL over the Lexus. You will thank me later.
Mines a 2010 Shawdy but got her with a rebuilt title found out it had a bent rim after driving on it for several months already... Replaces that only to still have a wobble coming from the affected area.. (the right rear) Not sure exactly what it could be thats bent but the bushings are definitely TOAST on this car sucks i can tell it was def a smooth rjde originally
