Hey lovely! 😊 Thank you so much for being on youtube , your videos are amazing & life changing, I had an accident during lock down and suffered from dry eye as a result of my symptoms. I have been using the eye doctor hot & cold compresses that you have recommended! My eyes are getting there but it is time consuming & im still experiencing symptoms from time to time. Going to invest in one of these now! Thank you this is godsend!!!! Your a very inspirational lifesaver 🤩

Not sure that this option will be any better but I agree that having pressure on your eye is very uncomfortable. I have stuck to using a flannel or face cloth dipped in very warm water (add hot water often to keep temp high) and this has worked very well. It takes 15 minutes a day but worth the effort.

I just ordered one of these and hope it helps. Can you tell me if prescription dry eye drops simply don’t work for some people? i have tried Restasis, Xidra, Cequa and maybe more, but they do nothing for me and in fact, this last one i tried, Cequa, makes my eyes feel worse. They burn like crazy when I put it in! Have been using Bruder eye pack but like the idea that I can watch tv or work with this green hornet one. Thank you for your videos!! Very helpful!

I have been doing warm compresses for years and have found that the moist heat compress is more effective and doesn't dry out the delicate skin around the eyes. And as for the supposed advantage of being able to see at the same time you do the compress, why not just meditate or listen to some music with your eyes closed for the time required. Sooth the mind as well as your eyelids.

Agree. And just what I was thinking. It's the looking at screens etc that exacerbates Dry Eye. Give them a rest. Surely people have 15 minutes a day to just ponder or meditate.

@@DoctorEyeHealth Correct. HOWEVER I may not have used it long enough [I saw your vid where you said it requires several months to be effective]. I was using eye drops so many times a day it wasn't even working and I've been spending a fortune on eye drops. Truth is, the eye doctor is fine, but they only give a printed suggestion on dealing with dry eyes [one of which was using a Bruder eye mask~which I ignored}. I got more usable information from your video than I EVER got from the eye doctor, who simply doesn't have the time. Which is UNFORTUNATE because I live in high desert and sun is really unforgiving on blue eyed people. So thank you for that. I went on line and bought it direct from the company and it arrived quickly.

I've been using the massaging eye compress with the heat and you can change different modes and even have vibration and heat! I love it but this one does look neat. I normally use it before bed though so it actually helps me fall asleep. My dad has one as well and loves it too! I paid around $60 for mine and it does work wonders. I have my own business and I'm at home so I can take a break and run it around my eyes when it's needed so it could make sense for a person who is busy during the day and doesn't remember to use it before bed. I have been finding that fixing my stomach sensitivity issues with gut restoration has given me a large quality of life increase with my eyes. I'm using devices I hadn't been able to in quite some time without the eye strain. I try to always work from the inside out. Thanks for the great review!

I use a similar vibrating warm compress at nighttime before bed as well (I think that one gets a little warmer too) but yes the eyes open feature is really where this one helps out. I also agree with the inside out method, I used to have bad eczema until I changed my diet.

One of the issues with moist hear compress is that you need access to a microwave all the time. If you travel, that isn't always possible. This system enables someone to travel and still treat the meibomian glands. So, it can promote compliance through convenience. The downside is the need to "reset" the packs, because a traveller will still need access to things that allow for water to boil, etc.

I did warm compresses for a short time. Bruder moist heat eye compress. I don’t use it as much as I should. The reason is, I don’t know if it should be that warm, I’m worried about my corneas. Not that I have ever had cornea problems but have had 4 detached retinas (2 in each eye) so I’m always nervous about my eyes. I’m sure it’s normal but when I take the mask off my vision is blurry for over 1/2 hour. Make me nervous. Same when I have migraines and use ice packs. Eye surgeon said it’s normal because I’m numbing my corneas. Still scares me. Can’t really do it just before bed because I have to microwave it, then it’s too hot or too cold, have to reheat. Have to put Xiifra drops in right before bed. Might actually change back to Restasis. I think it worked better. Lately they have been really dry. Trying to go wheat & gluten free. Maybe it making it worse? I don’t know. Have to have cataract surgery in the next couple of years. Super nervous because of my retinas (full buckles on each). I’m a mess.

Warm compresses work great for MGD in any case, but with lasik, the cornea is more thin and pressure and heat to the cornea may make the corneal surface warp easier (although transient) and will blur the vision. Perhaps Lipiflow or ilux may be good to look into.

For that first eye heating compress, is this harmful chemical if the compress leaks? I have been avoiding to do warm compress with towel because it doesn’t seem hygienic. I would try this compress if it works and the inside chemical is safe.

Now I’m confused by my ophthalmologist’s recommendation to use a warm wash cloth as a compress once a day for TWO minutes to “melt the oil” in my glands to relieve dry eye, and thus my headaches. I’ve not been diagnosed with this Meibomiam gland dysfunction that you discuss (nor did he mention it), but I don’t see any solidified oils when I pull down my eyelid. Am I wasting my time with this dumb warm washcloth activity? Thanks for your video.
@DoctorEyeHealth
@DoctorEyeHealth 3 года назад
Tough to say, all the research I have read shows you need about 40 degree C at a minimum for about 10-15 minutes to get results. The wash cloth method is pretty old school and unfortunately doesn't do much in my opinion, but warm compresses in general can help with meibomian gland dysfunction and blepharitis as well.
@grantadamson3478
@grantadamson3478 3 года назад
I have been seeing an Ophthalmologist for many years and he never examined my eyelids for MGD until I developed severe symptoms. They just don't appear to look for it and then often their advice is wrong. Mine also recommended a warm was cloth for two minutes and that did nothing. I did my own research and as this Doctor has advised, you need 15 minutes at around 40 degree C to melt the oil and get it to a stage that it is less viscous. I still use the warm cloth folded so that it retains the heat. I used to test the temp with one of those laser temperature guns to ensure the temp was at 40 or thereabouts. I have a jug of hot water nearby and pour some fresh hot water into the large pot I use to keep it at a constant temp. You quickly get familiar with what temp is required so that testing is no longer required. It works well for me and the massage after each session appears to be working. But I also get IPL for dry eye done every few months. Good luck.

The pineapple should be quite yellow, and not green, and have no soft mushy spots or dark spots on it. Twist the top off, cut both ends off not too thick, cut down through the ends, cut again down through the two halves, you now have 4 quarters. Cut into the core at 45's on all 4 pieces and remove, you'll have 4 rectangle pieces 1/2" X 5" roughly or 12mm X 10cm. These are quite woody in texture, so i cut them up in small cubes and add them to my smoothies. Now, hold one quarter in the palm of your hand, using a long thin knife cut up away from the rind about 1/2'' or 12mm to the center of the quartered piece, turn the quarter around 180 degrees and do the same, the pineapple is now removed from the rind. If you notice any rind conical on the pineapple, you've cut to close to the rine, cut further away from the rind. At this point you can take a rigid tablespoon and scrape the rind clean and have nice crushed looking pineapple. Repeate on the other three quarters, the ends can also be scraped clean using the tablespoon method. HOWEVER, most of the nutrition is in the rind and stem so juciing is really the way to go. There are recipes for using the pineapple rind if you don't want to juice them.

A couple of things, First, some type of tinted glasses (as you kind of already done with the blue light lenses ) but also consider a frame where a sunglasses lens can clip onto the regular frame. You could also consider Oasys Transitions contacts (might help a little) as these lenses block about 15% light even when clear indoors. If looking into prescription lenses, consider Transitions Xtra Active as they remain slightly dark even indoors and get VERY dark outside. (maybe look into fit over rose colord glasses offered by Axon optics or Theraspecs)

I tried this system and found it to be not useful at all. There are three main problems: 1. The chemicals of the plastic caused my eyelids to swell, which actually makes the oil glands clog up even worse. For me the swelling lasted 24 hours a day and I had to stop using the mask. 2. The gel packs put out very good heat, but barely even for 10 minutes, if you're lucky. One of the gel packs I had put out good heat for only about four minutes. That's essentially useless since the lids need to be heated for about 15 minutes to be useful. 3. At least for me, this mask is actually not comfortable to wear. Even though you can keep your eyes open, they will rub on the gel packs, which is very annoying. The gel packs become hard with an uneven surface while using them and that puts uneven pressure all around the eyes. Also this mask system is of no use while travelling because you typically have no way to boil the gel packs after use. So all in all I had to abandon this mask after one week of trying it. It's a good idea in theory, but I found it to be of no practical use.

Do you know of cases where the Glaucoma invasive surgeries didn't work (in my case due to a genetic connective tissue. disease which causes build-up of collagen that blocks the little tubes), the needling to re-opening didn't work, the laser for drainage wasn't an option due to lack of pigment, the eye drops (every single one of the market) stopped working and now there's only the cyclodiode laser left which only have a success rate of 50-60% (prob lower in my case) and it's not going to work right away (if ever) and most likely not for long. I'm 36 but am on all 4 combi drops right now as I await laser and cannot get straight answers of whether I'm about to have to consider glass eyes if the pressures aren't going down and the pain cant be managed. The pressure is 29-30 on both eyes even with shunts, drains, all drops and everything tried. Future inventions of new treatments for putting in drains of any kind won't help me as they will also become blocked due to my collagen build up from my connective tissue disease. I'm the only case my hospital (and country) has and they just don't think they can do much for me other than removing the eyes eventually. I currently have only very little nerve damage so it's the pain from the high pressure that reminds me that every day I'm getting a tiny bit more damage.

Hey Wirina, Thanks for sharing your story. I am very sad to hear that you are having such struggles with this. It sounds like your doctors really have tried everything or are at least trying. The only newer treatment I know of is still in development (the brown glaucoma implant - Unless they changed the name since the other year). I really hope it doesn't come to the glass eye option. I can only imagine how defeated you and your doctors must feel...Are you doing alright?
