I do this every time i do my 5k run. This totally reduced pain on my leg when i'm running Edit: august 18, 2020 Wow i didn't notice the likes and comments on my post last year. Just an update, i've been running 5k over a year now and still using this as my warmup. It really works! ☺️

Im 16 and play travel soccer, I just moved to a new state and had not worked out in a while and was sorta out shape. I did these stretches before running everyday in my neighborhood and they have worked wonders! Thank you so much!

I had major leg tightness in my lower legs to the point where i had to walk more than run. Three weeks ago i started doing these moves plus one or two others before running and i haven't had any lower leg tightness since. My love of running has been renewed!! Thank you for the great info.

Thank you! I have been using these warm up and feel the difference. I should at least say "Thank you!" While I am here, a couple years ago, a PT warned me against grabbing below the knee during the knee hug. He suggested doing the same leg with grabbing behind the knee where it meets the thigh. Less stress on that valuable knee joint.

I'm a skinny guy at age 19 trying to start getting in shape for my future health. My last run I didn't prepare properly and I suffered for it. With these exercises and other preparation, my most recent run went much more smoothly. I'll make sure to do it every time.

I tried this today and it definitely helped. From the start itself I was able to run at a higher pace. I generally take a break after 1.5 km but today I was able to run 2.5 km without a break. I was also able to complete my 4k run about 2 minutes earlier that my regular time.

I’m in 6th grade been running since the 1st grade almost everyday tryna get ready for 7th grade track and took it serious last year and always realized why my rib hurt so much after i ran and thought about the stretch warm up I did in 4th grade basketball practice. So basically this really helped my body pain when I ran.

@@CriticalbenchI ended up joining the Airforce and went to boot camp and technical training (6 months) last year. I went from 205 lbs to 185 lbs. it’s a life style for me now, I do these warm ups before every workout cause I run 12-15 miles a week now wether it’s walking or jogging. I thought I’d come back and visit this because it’s crazy how things have changed since then. I ran a mile and a half at bmt in 10 minutes and 30 seconds. When I first enlisted and tested myself I ran a mile and a half in 16 minutes, I was terrible.

Thanks Bryan, I recently started outdoor running since the lockdowns started. Didn't do warmup and probably had poor running technique and ended up with shin splint pain. Your video was an eye opener and also checked out some good running technique especially the landing principle. Hopefully with this proper approach, the shin pains dont come back. Thanks again!

I notice the first couple of exercises include stretching. But isn’t it dangerous to be stretching when the body is cold. I was told to warm up and loosen up before attempting any type of stretch. I’ve heard of people getting injured.

Slow stretching will help increase your body temperature. Be a smart stretcher & don't force yourself to the point of strain & injury

Start by narrowing your stance & see if that helps. As for the other exercise use something to stabilize you . . . use a chair or even placing your hand on a door frame or anything stable to keep you from wobbling.
