I'm fishing on Sanibel two weeks . Redfish hitting pinfish with trimmed tail like crazy. Lady fish an snook hitting shrimp.😉Woooo. Seasons closed til May 😑Still alot of fun

What fillet knife is that- do you use an accusharp or stone to razor it up?

this knife is a danco knife and you can use basic knife sharping tools to fix it up. the cheap kitchen ones walmart sells work.

I caught a few nice ones today. Butchered the first couple. Knife wasn't sharp. Took my time with the last few and got much better filets

Sharp knife is the most important thing. You can actually sharpen it by using the back of another knife lol

Why is it every time I try to skin them i either leave skin on the filet or the skin breaks while pulling on it?

@@FatBellyFishing fresh sharpened Dexter blade, only seems to happen with thinner skinned fish i have no issue with snappers, drum, etc.

@@FuglimanFishing the skin of trout isn’t the toughest, it happens to me too. I usually just try to go slower to avoid it, but a lot of times there’s nothing that will save the skin from breaking on its own

Sometimes there is a few small bones. But I just pull them out. But you shouldn’t have a ton of them

Sea trout is a misleading name. Yea I know that’s what they are called and yes these aren’t in the same species as true trout but it’s misleading because it implies trout are freshwater only when that is not the case. Steelhead are searun rainbows. I guess I’m just saying it’s misleading in that way besides that nice fillet job and those look delicious

That’s a good point. Since they are in the drum family, would it be more appropriate to name them speckled drum than speckled trout?
