Wow, that table looks great after sanding the off the old finish. I would be happy with clear finish over the bare wood.

Hey, Steve! Beautiful grain on that. how do you find the Tried+True for moisture resistance? That is why i've always used polyurethane on table tops, as soon er or later they get wet.

Great video Steve. That’s a stunning tabletop, I love walnut. I think you’ll be pleased with the oil finish. I have a 42x72 white oak island top in the kitchen that sees CONSTANT abuse, and I only use mineral oil to maintain it. I’ve been amazed at the protection and the repairability. I apply new oil maybe twice a year at best. Sand out and reapply as necessary for water stains, wine stains, marker, pencil indentations, etc.

No alcohol to take of the dust?

No wetting to pop the grain and re-sanding?

This is a Danish oil finish. Only one I use now that I have tried each.

Thank you for your video. I'm deciding between oil based poly and polycrylic for my lacquered dining table which has a few heat spots. How's the heat resistance of polycrylic holding up?

Applied this to a new table. Followed the directions and it is tacky still two weeks later after just one coat. Can I apply poly over this tacky finish so I can use my table soon? I’m worried this is going to take months to dry. I live in CA and it’s in the 90’s with low humidity.

Liz Flaherty He mentioned it took four days between each coat to dry, I’d be patient, rushing a finish always ends badly. Adding an oil based poly (don’t put water based poly over an oil finish) over a tacky finish will likely trap moisture and not go on smoothly, resulting in an unstable finish that could peel off. Hope it worked out.

He put the oil on wrong. If you go to the tried and true website they published the directions.

What would you apply after staining a top? My client wants a deep blue stain followed by a lacquer type finish. Please let me know when you can!

Can oil be applied on top of water based stain? I have covered the table with stain but it seems to be not very resilient.. scratches quite quickly..

Nice job and beautiful grain on that solid top. I love oiled finishes too , use the 'Liberon' Tung Oil product here in the UK. We don't seem to have the range of finishes that you do over there. not to mention the timber !

Nice job indeed! The table looks great - love the grain & how well it pops. The video is very instructional & with all the right process guidelines. I look forward to all your Saturday videos. It would be nice to have a neighbor like you that I could share woodworking time with.

Excellent work as alway. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I have used Tried and True in the past and love the finish but didn't like the waiting time for it to really dry.
