EXCELLENT TIP/INSTRUCTION/VID-CLIP! Gave me supreme confidence to make the repairs myself (on CPVC/PVC) vs hiring a plumber. Bought a 1 1/8” pipe cutter as advised, got rid of a leaking “valve assembly” and the same next to it. Planning on doing the whole house soon. KUDOS to That Fix It Guy !!!!!!

Dude. Thank you for this. I’m going to be replacing every single one of those garbage valves in my new place but was not looking forward to cutting off some of the shorter supply lines.

I had to replace a Flowtite valve 4 days ago, wish I would have seen this video prior to my removal. I chose to cut it out and then replace it with a shark bite angle stop because I didn't have a Proper Expander tool. I just ordered a 2532-22 tool kit so now I'm prepared for the future. Thanks for the great tip.

Fix it guy. Thank you very much your videos talking about the flaws of flowtite valves, and how to remove/fix them. I purchased a new house last year, and had one of these flowtite valves leak and destroyed a portion of drywall behind my toilet. I'll be proactively removing all flowtite valves from my house, with a proper way to fix this deficiency thanks to you. Also helping me save bookoo bux of potential other water damage which may occur from this faulty product. Thank you for spreading awareness, and providing a solution. I am indebted to you.

I cannot over-stress how important it is to practice with some PEX-A and the Expander Tool before attempting to place new fittings into PEX-A (if you have not worked with it before). At 6:00 he shows about 10 expansions with the expander tool and the fitting goes in all of the way. I have worked with some PEX-A that required 15+ expansions before the fitting would seat fully. If you do not get the PEX-A tube expanded FULLY and try to place a fitting in and it doesn't go in completely - you now have a serious problem. Typically, there is only enough pipe sticking out of the wall to install a fitting. If the fitting only goes in partially, typically there isn't enough pipe sticking out to cut and retry. You GET One Try to get it RIGHT. Home Depot sells 5 foot lengths of PEX-A type (very low cost), I recommend buying some and practicing b4 you attempt to do this repair. Also, make sure you are using the correct head size on the expander tool (1/2 in, 3/4 in, 1 in) that matches the pipe you are working with. The ONLY place that I have found that rents the Expander tool is Ferguson Plumbing. Wish you the best.

Currently replacing 6 faucets, so 12 lines, and I spun 4 of them off before seeing this video. I don’t think I damaged the pex too bad, but to be safe I think I’m gonna invest in a cutter now. Thanks for the tip.

I need to do the same thing with type B. Do you have a link for that?
@NSilver832
@NSilver832 7 месяцев назад
Pex B is not expandable. Don't even try, you'll get in trouble. Only pex A is expandable and it uses these specific fittings like the ones in the video. Pex B uses different fittings and you can either use pinch clamps or copper rings to secure the fitting to the pipe. You will also need the tool for the clamp or the crimp tool for the ring. You can look online for PEX B to NPT male adapter 1/2", 3/4" or 1" or whichever size you need. Pex B fittings have 2 lines around the barb while pex A fittings have only 1 big one around it. I hope I was helpful.

Uponor makes angle stops which you can directly connect the pipe to with expansion, instead of having to get a threaded adapter and then screw the angle stop on
@onenikkione
@onenikkione Год назад
Yes, but when that angle stop valve fails it is hell to remove and replace the expansion sleeve. Plus you will need an expander tool again. Using his method, you would just unscrew the old valve off and screw on a new one - boom done.
