Video review of four different designs of wire strippers. Which is the best for electronics? Which is the best budget model? Which is the most flexible?
Not at all sure why they didn't just put a wing nut on the second set, would have made them much easier to adjust. I have some similar, with a loose wheel on the handle which can be quickly turned to set for different conductor sizes. It even has the conductor sizes marked on the wheel. Easy!
The genuine brand of auto strippers, that first pair that you binned, is called Speedex. Just in case you ever want to try that type again. I'm not sure if they're even made anymore. I do see some Speedex style copies around today. Auto strippers are pretty handy when doing confined cabinet work. Your "adafruit" type, which folks I know call T5s, after the Ideal brand model (yellow handles), are the preferred general purpose strippers. You can get them in different wire size ranges. Those cheap adjustable strippers you have are so cheap people usually buy a few, then set each pair up to strip a specific wire size. That is the only practical way to use them.
You just got a fake of the dinosaur wire stripper. Same ones are sold here in $2 shops and they are all like that. Pay a bit more for a real one and they are great.
you did not adjusted the fisrt wire stripper correctly.. It is the silver ball on the back. It adjust the pressure but you have to twist many times to adjust throughout all of the wire sizes.
No. It really was a cheap knock-off piece of crap and ended up where it belonged. That doesn't mean ALL wire strippers like this are bad, but these ones were.
you could have used your fingers to stop the wire from moving in the first wire stripper..... or add some hot glue. c'mon, be creative! where's your maker spirit?
