Fun fact, how strongly a candles sent fills a room is called it’s “throw”. Candles with a stronger throw are great for large rooms, but can be overwhelming in small space.
We are exact opposite on scent preferences (I want the MOST scent explosion ever, give me all the gourmand but no citrus) but I LOVE how you explain your candles and scents. "it's like the Hamptons...I've never been to the Hamptons. Ok...Rhode Island" lol! I am dying! Love it!
I found a small brand new Holiday candle from Nest at Goodwill a few years ago around Thanksgiving and fell in love. I haven’t been able to justify one since but guess what I purchased a few minutes before this video went live? A new one for this year! I also snagged Baltic Amber. Thank you so much for making this video!
I have a 12 week old and there are three things I cling to for self care: 1. Doing my beauty routine (with the bean in the front pack) 2. Candles! 3. Watching Kackie and doing the elliptical machine while bean naps This vid brought me much joy. Especially the holidays farting bit. And I’m a Michigan girl so Volcano is going on my birthday wishlist. ❤️🙃
I’m hooked on Voluspa thanks to Kackie! White Cypress smells like pine tree meets man cologne....it’s alright. I love the Goji Tarocco Orange in both the regular version and the spiced version. Great combo of citrus and floral. Love!
I love this!!!!! And I am allllll about the Fallen Fir. I ran through mine and now have DS&Durga portable campfire burning all the time. INTO it. That Nest Holiday candle sounds fab tho. May have to try.
I love my Otherland candle....I got 3 or 4 from Voluspa also and like them when I hold them up to my nose but neither my husband nor I can smell them as they burn. So much though, I accidently left one burning for 2 days because I completely forgot about it and we never smelled it...
My new fav is Silk pajamas by Otherland. It’s volcano’s older, more sophisticated sister! Same citrusy sweetness we love but just something that elevates it. As a Michigan girl living in Chicago I had to stop myself from buying a 3 pack to get me through the winter 🤣
Many people mis-pronounce Voluspa. But I have never heard it pronounced this way. So, as a retailer we buy directly from Voluspa, and they answer the phone and pronounce their name as Vol us pa - with the U pronounced as a short vowel sound "uh" - so "vol-uh-spa". Just thought I would put it out there for everyone to know.
Baltic amber smells like AMBER! 🤤 it’s the scent I’m most drawn to in the whole world, all my favorite candles and perfumes heavily feature that amber note in the profile. So warm and cozy! I think we have the exact same preferences in terms of makeup AND scents...like you, I was also sadly disappointed by voluspa santal vanilla :((((( Edited to add: I have a voluspa Baltic amber diffuser in my living room and I can smell it OUTSIDE MY FRONT DOOR. That betch is strongggg
@@kackie YES I WONDER THIS ALL THE TIME ... I think (?) I really like the smell of Amber too? It's in my perfume in any case, but like ... I have no idea what it ... is? @Amanda, help! lol Same w/ musk for me actually? Obvious candle newbie here ... I don't even fully understand what top vs middle vs bottom means when it comes to notes? *runs off to do some googling*
😂 I’ve always associated “amber” with the preserved mosquito from Jurassic park!! But the scent is like...warm, kinda earthy-sweet (think honey), kinda musky...which is funny bc I know you aren’t a fan of straight up “musk”! But the combo somehow works and it’s just my favorite thing ever. I’ll DM you with some of my fave perfumes that I think you’d enjoy-I’m the one who sent you that long ass message on ig about the Daniel Sandler blushes, so you can trust my judgement!! Lol
I almost didn’t get Santal Vanille because I’m not a huge fan of vanilla scents, so when you said it smells more Santal-y I immediately ordered it and I love it 🤣
Was off the candle train for a number of years, but been hopping back on a little lately. My favorite is one I picked up at Plum Market (for those of us in Michigan who want to pay more than WF prices) by a brand called Apotheke in sea salt grapefruit. I just bought the votive to test drive but I will definitely grab the larger size next time. I love clean scents and it fits the bill.
I’ve been seeing Apotheke around the net and some people talk about it online. Is it a specialty store candle brand only? I love sea salt scented things but only if it’s the right type of sea salt smell :) I saw someone selling an earl grey apothems candle which peaked my interest!
If its a light musk I think I can handle it in the house but i don't know I dont really think I've had one other then BBW Fall Farmhouse ot something and I thought I would not like that at all and I ended up loving it so idk Now I can't wear moderate to heavy musk it turns rancid on me, my daughter wears it beautifully though
Being nostalgic for summer is a very northern thing. Summer was my favorite season until I moved to Arizona and now fall and winter are my faves because summer here is awful. Those Voluspa candles are so pretty 😍
Love this! The only annoying thing about Capri blue candles is that they don’t burn evenly, I feel like so much wax is left by the time the wick burns down- they need to either design the jar differently or place the wicks in better places in the wax
I got the candles from Voluspa for Christmas Baltic Amber, Santal Vanille, and Goji Tarocco Orange and I love all of them! I haven't burned the Goji one yet but I like what it smells like in the tin. But I didn't get any samples 😕 and he ordered directly from Voluspa kind of a bummer but oh well
Between Ramada Inn soap, orange pez, and that ending, I'm laughing so hard!! Thank you! I needed this today (even if the only candle fragrance I really love is beeswax. I get my candles from a local beekeeper).
You have to take a look at candles by Victoria, they are cuteness overload and have 500 plus scents. Found them in 2012. Front porch candles have amazing wax melts, especially laundry scents. Pink laundry is amazing!
Thank you for this video 🙏🏽😩 Brooklyn candle studio doesn’t use any preservatives in their candles, so they recommend to use them within a year. Otherwise, the scent will fade 😢
So sad that this video came out when I still cannot smell from covid 6 weeks ago 😢. Still watching of course because duh, new kackie video means immediate watch.
YESS that meme of Elmo with the fire burning behind him is me right now except with candles burning behind me. How did you know this is what I wanted??
Yay!! My only fav from yankee is strawberry ice. Its aaamazing! I put Baltic amber on my Christmas list lol I dont know if I'm gonna get it because it the big jar 😅 and I picked out a couple of tins too
i'm a candle noob, enlighten me, mama kax. i'm openly very ignorant. i'm stupid. i don't really comprehend how woodwick candles can be sustainable or if they're eco since people argue either way. they aren't extremely scented, but i love how it's light in my small bedroom, and crackles whilst i read, cook etc. the only other candle i've tried is Jackie Aina's. i got Hey Big Head for Christmas-- such a perfect coffee treat and quite robust but not headache inducing! i hope i can try a sampler soon now that their shipping issues are working out.
Such a funny and entertaining video! I know a company that makes an amazing vanilla scented candle. I love vanilla too but I find it’s usually too sweet or fake smelling but this one has real vanilla and soft peach blossom and sweet Jasmine 🙂
I just bought my second Cassia Holiday candle by Brooklyn Candle Studio today, its amazing! Stay away from their Cardamom...its definitely men's cologne-ey. You sold me on Otherland's Cardamom Milk 💕
Along with Moso Bamboo, I love Voluspa White Cypress for the holidays! And I got a sample of the lime one with my last order and will definitely be ordering a jar next time!
HA, a candle smelling like bar disinfectant is a riot. But I know what you're describing. I picked up a candle at world market once because it sounded like it was going to smell fresh from the name, but once that lid was off boy did it smell like a cleaning product.
Loved your makeup today, had to check the description to check your products before I could even start the video. I'm so curious about the Chandelier Champagne scent from Otherland that they're selling at Sephora...
I love the Versed HA serum, it’s the only one I’ve tried so far that isn’t super sticky and doesn’t peel when I put moisturizer on after. Lol I love candles, I probably have 25 unburned ones lol. ALSO, you didn’t like the “campfire” candle, do you like Replica by the fireplace fragrance? Everyone raves about it and I got a sample and I swear you were describing it when you described that candle lol
I really think that pumpkin just smells like carrot. I mean, it's a nice enough smell, but that's not a scent you want around you like all the times :D
With Yankee-I like lavender and lemon, honey clementine, Macintosh Apple (single note nothing else-), and their balsam-Bath and Body-tricky cause so many smell like baked goods that make me gag-no bueno. I like their balsam, evergreen, orange ginger and sometimes the lemoncello. Capri in volcano, Volspa in goji tracco orange, glut pomander and overland in the Fallen Fir and Nest pine and...yeah pine, apples, citrus lavender and sage/ lemon and I’m totally good !!!
Kackie all your voluspa scents are my least fav ones 🤮🤮 especially Baltic Amber. I do enjoy Goji Tarocco Orange (not the spiced one), panjore lychee, Japanese plum bloom and mokara... hmm i guess i like citrus fruity smells 😅 I also love Anthropologie candles Volcano is great, I have Pumpkin clove oof divine 👌🏻👌🏻 and I have ivory primrose and Lola Blossom
Loved this video. I might just have to visit my sister who lives next to a Central Market to browse the candle section. Side note:. Neroli (Orange Blossom) reminds me of the smell of the urinal cakes from when I worked as a janitor at a door factor back in highschool. Totally ruined the smell for me.
Love this! My favorite candle company is actually a small business in Texas called Calyan Wax Co. I love their Home + Holiday and Desert + Agave candles! They even donate a portion of their proceeds to help human trafficking victims. Highly recommend.
Have you purchased any of Jackie Ainas candles? I've heard great things but I would love to hear from the trusted candle source herself. You describe scents like no other 😂
