Just a note on the iPhone’s 4K 60 fps option: if you are editing on a 30 fps timeline/sequence in your video editor, you are using half the number of those 60 frames per second. You can save space by choosing 4K 30 fps instead with no hit on “quality.” 60 fps only looks “smoother” if you are editing on a 60 fps timeline/sequence, and exporting in 60 fps. For vlogging, that may be overkill. Again, this is about file size and storage, which can be an issue for some people. On iPhones, 4K 60 fps is about 400 MB/minute, whereas 30 fps is about 170 MB/minute.

Also if you drop a 60fps clip on a 30fps timeline it will slow it down. Get you that nice slomo footage

60 fps is not evey time solution .Many ppl are crazy 4k60 and thats it .Why then movie itrustry using just 24fps with judder mode .

Thank you for promoting that a "cheap camera" or a cell phone is all you need to be successful! The content and end result is what matters! So many people think you need an A7sIII and a $1000 lens, $300 mic and a full studio to be a good creator! I personally just started out with the ZVE-10, and an inexpensive mic & tripod, but I've used my iPhone 13P Pro Max to create short films, documentaries and other videos and most people watching were none the wiser. They usually don't care what gear you use, they want to watch the content! Focus, Exposure, Editing and good AUDIO are key! PS, I also prefer 4K 24fps...LOL! Thanks Vanessa!

The Sony ZV1 was the best investment I ever made. Way easier to have motivation with a point and shoot camera with auto focus and a builtin mic. Using my old DSLR cameras took too much effort and was a roadblock for me.

1:45 absolutely will NOT "muffle any echoing". It only reduces the effect of *wind* noise directly hitting the microphone. It will have no impact on actual "echoes" in a reverberant environment.

You can also buy a mains adaptor for the Sony ZV-1, which will give you an infinite amount of filming time plugged into the mains, or the best part of 20 hours pluged into a power bank.

I'm using a GoPro for all my travel vlogs and I'm super happy with it. I'm living nomadic and it fits perfect in my suitcase/backpack. It's small, lightweight and even the microphone has a good quality (but I mostly use a rode wireless go though). For indoor videos I would still prefer your setup 🙂

Contrary to what you've stated every time you mentioned dead cats, they do NOTHING for noise cancelation and echo reduction. They are wind muffs, used to alleviate the sound of wind on naked mics. Gently blow on your mics with and without, to see the difference. Using them indoor is basically altering the EQ response of your Rode mic.

I agree with most what you are saying. But as far as the ZV 1 is going to be outdated. The upgrade is the Sony Zv -E10 . Because you can upgrade your lense if you want. Loe the Sony plug in and record without extra software. I have the Iphone 12 pro max, I use it allot, and love the options for mobility.

I disagree. One is a point and click that has 240fps the other is aimed at a similar audience but more advance operators. I’m waiting on the zv2 personally but have several Sony camera bodies and the ability to have something small and light weight that fits in my pocket beats out having a bag full of gear costing 10-15k with me at all times for all my shots.

Good video, several misinformation however: 1. A deadcat or the cover of the microphone is used ONLY to reduce wind noise. It is not a background noise rejection. AC noise, low hums, echo etc. will still be present 2. The choice of camera is heavily dependent on the individual use cases. While the ZV-1 is a really good do-it-all camera (cheap), it also has limitations like the 1" sensor, 8-bit color, and no lens choises. If you want to create content like Peter Mckinnon then you still might consider investing in more expensive equipment 3. The title of the video mentions the BEST youtube setup, I would argue that this is more of the BEST beginner friendly, on a budget, and too lazy to use proper equipment youtube setup 4. the choice of 4K60p over 4K24p cannot be generalized. 60p is chosen for slow motion, while 24p is for regular videos. Please don't use 60p for head talking video, you're wasting storage space and your lights might flicker in the background.

Deadcat won't remove the wind as well properly, if you're under high wind conditions you'll get a bad sound from your microphone. You need to remove the inner foam to get a clear sound.

@@AsimAntuleVlogs every TV show and Film are delivered in 24/25p timeline. 30/50/60/100/120p are meant to be slowed down later in post production to fit a 24/25p timeline. Sure, 60p does give smoother footage on iPhone to be specific (you can’t control shutter speed on iphone), but that’s not what it’s intended to do. Then why is there a slow motion feature on iphone then you ask? For convenience… the slowmo feature on iphone goes up to 120p in FHD. With just 1 click you can get slowmo features as well.

BATTERIES / Great to mention the inexpensive spare batteries for a Sony ZV1. HEAT / I use my ZV1 for Zoom calls and in the summertime, if I have multiple calls, it can overheat. I place a very inexpensive small USB & battery fan near it, and that totally solves the heat problem. LIGHT / My office is small and not regular enough to rely on daylight, I use an Elgato Key Light AIr ($129). GREEN / I also use a collapsible portable green screen, an Elgato 58" by 70". This isn't the cheapest ($159) but it's well made and reliable. Thanks for explaining the V30 benchmark for the SDHC memory cards. I see they go up to V90, but good to know V30 is a good level.

Can you connect a remote control to the camera so that you can turn on/off the video with the remote?? This would be much better than always having to get up and walk to the camera to stop/start the video each time.

In light of purchasing extra batteries, aye use Nitecore 20k power bank w/multiple outs.This baby charges, at different times, 2 different video cameras & DJI OA-1/OA3, depending on my mood & situational requirements. Not cheap, but cheaper than $5k in-house set-up!-lol

The best setup for me is to use the iPhone with a tripod and daylight as my light source. As an RU-vid beginner, I need to buy a tripod for future YouTubing. Your videos are very informative and helpful.

I have 2 webcams plus a cam on my laptop. That's 3 cams total. If I add my phone, that makes 4. You want beginning content creators to spend $700 on a camera. I say use your camera on your phone or webcam with lighting on your laptop.

Thanks for sharing this! i got the same setup Sony ZV1 and Rode VideoMicro but the audio doesn't sound as good. I think it's to do with setting the right audio levels on the Sony ZV1. If the levels are too loud, it's picking background noise (from the camera machine itself) and if it's low, I don't sound loud enough since I'm sitting away from the mic (which is on the camera). Can you share what sound level adjustments you use?

Thanks for the review. I shoot almost all my videos on my RU-vid channel with my Redmi Note 10 phone and the camera is not doing bad and the quality is amazing compare to the price of the phone . So now am looking good camera to upgrade my video quality something less than 500 dollars .
