This scene compliments Gus in Breaking Bad. Walt's planted a bomb on Gus's car at the hospital, and Jesse tells Gus he thinks someone poisoned Brock. For those wondering, this is Gu's safe house (is next to his main one), where he set his surveillance and defense team against Lalo. The random people that "don't notice him" are a decoy couple, hired by him to keep appearances and to not rise suspicion (they probably were ordered to act as if a security team isn't there). Because of the proximity of those houses, that tunnel must've been easy to dig unlike the lab which required planning for both the drainage/water system and ventilation system.

Did you also notice that Gus wears a bullet proof vest? This is probably so he can avoid severe injuries or death if being shot at. He also conceals a gun by his ankle to be able to defend himself in case of an aggression. Tiny details like these really give life to the characters.

@@vitorhegermann I don’t think it’s as big of a stretch when factoring how much power and influence Madrigal has a a multi national corporation. It’s been referenced how Madrigal has a lot of business interests globally. Say Madrigal has a hand in neighborhood/private community development they could easily build a tunnel and connect various houses while constructing the entire neighborhood. Having those specific houses purchased by Gus and his team as their base is not that unlikely (as opposed to say Russians having an underground base in Indiana like in Stranger Things lol).

My assumption was that because of the strap having a hole at the bottom, with the barrel of the gun barely poking out, Gus was concerned there was a chance someone could see it and raise a suspicion. Seeing this really makes you realize just how dumb Walter's original "get me in a room with him and I'll do the rest" plan was. It was enough for Walter to think he would best Gus simply by smugging a gun inside, completely ignoring the fact that Gus 1) could be wearing a vest; 2) could be carrying a gun of his own. Gus would have probably smoked Walter if it came to a direct confrontation, so Walter was lucky that Mike declined this particular proposal.

I don't know about that... Gus didn't really seem at all as paranoid as he is here, when Walt killed Gale. Gus might be wearing a vest, however unlike Lalo, Gus knew the whereabouts of Walt at almost all times(until the end of Season 4). Everytime Walter drove into Los Pollos Hermanos people would be watching, if Walt were to try to go to Gus's house; Tyrus would be watching. And unlike Lalo, Walter isn't a seasoned ex-military Cartel enforcer. Any one of Gus's guys could probably take him head to head. Gus might not risk being caught with a gun in the workplace(even though its legal), only reason he did it for Lalo was cause of how terrifying Lalo was.

Despite his paranoia, we know Gus will win in the end. In Breaking Bad, the sequel, we know that Gus has already ended the Salamanca bloodline, hence we know that Gus will find a way to erase Lalo, whether on his own terms or others. This scene makes Gus seem even more intimidating to me than it is supposed to make Lalo seem and he already proved himself to be in Breaking Bad.

@Tama Fanene Not necessarily. Lalo is smart enough to find a way to make Gus believe he has killed him, he has already done it before and can do it again. In Breaking Bad when Walt & Jesse kidnap Saul he also asks them "Did Lalo send you?", meaning he still believes Lalo is alive during Breaking Bad and Saul has a closer partnership with Lalo than Gus does.

If Mike (of all people) doesn't know where Lalo is, that's something to be scared of. I don't believe Gus was this scared of Walt, as Walt wasn't in hiding; that is until Walt began making attempts at Gus's life. Whatever plan Lalo is scheming, I'm relatively confident that the cousins will be part of it. Lalo knows that he has the upper hand now, as I believe most people assume he's dead. However, his next move will still need to be carefully planned; he has to assume that Gus and Mike aren't 100% certain of his death and are still looking for him.

I genuinely believe after his friend died at the hands of the cartel its the one thing that kept gus going with his life. It became the one thing that got him up in the morning till the moment he went to sleep. Going through this same tedious routine. Because he dosent seem to have a genuine goal doing the things he does whether its running a sophisticated meth operation or Los pollos hermanos. There's no family, partner or children to provide for even though he's exceedingly wealthy. No other outstanding goals. I believe he simply lived at that point to destroy the entire cartel and especially make Don Hector suffer. It kept him perfectly ironing his shirts to scrubbing those grills to slitting people's throats with box cutters. People's lifestyles and habits often are moulded by the things that have happed to them.

@kennethcastelino3033
@kennethcastelino3033 2 года назад
It makes sense. If the guy doesn't cook up to Los Pollos standard, people are gonna fall sick from food poisoning, putting Gus's restaurant under investigation from the health department. Plus, the media would be all over it and through thorough investigation, they'd find out he is a drug kingpin. Also, the restaurant acts as a front for him to earn money for Eladio. He also uses the trucks to carefully move drugs across the border. Plus, the restaurant helps serve his image as a community helper, through the amount of charity he does. The DEA never suspected him because he supported their cause. So, of course he'd be pretty mad if the guy doesn't cook fries and wings properly. He'd lose his customers and his facade will fall off.

I always what drew Gus to this lifestyle. He’s an incredibly disciplined and tactful man. He’d make his way real high up in any corporate structure. I could see him learning multiple languages and at least a graduate degree. Maybe he wouldn’t make it to the top tier of a multinational. But with this level of discipline, he’d for sure hit the national levels. This is the kind of corporate manager that could catch small details that others could not, and after several years of doing that, you’re making the top good decisions and putting good eyes on the middle level.
