I use PI for the stacking/processing and then combine the nebula + stars in PS and then add in contrasts, NR and colour boosts.

A fantastic video. Right now, I don't use a modded or astro camera. However, I'm able to bring out a lot of red by careful use of PS color tools you explain here.

Oh yeah, you definitely don’t want to give up Photoshop. Even Adam Block, and a lot of the guys that are the most knowledgeable on PI on the planet still use Photoshop.

Man that Rosette image was stunning!!! We do use very similar workflows that's for sure great video mate

Thank you, I figured this one might be a little repetitious for someone like you who’s been using it for a while and I’ve talked about Photoshop in the past, but there are so many new people constantly joining that I wanted to do an overview. Also, I’ve really noticed Topaz starts to pull ahead on Denoise lately especially color noise so I wanted to get the word out
@nikaxstrophotography
@nikaxstrophotography 6 месяцев назад
@@darkrangersinc Yep it's the final stage in my workflow as well the colour noise is just gone but again it all goes down to how much data is acquired, the more the better

Wow - that is SOOOO helpful. Your videos are always so professional and well explained. For the screen star part, had you opened that already in PS as a TIFF or did you bring it in at th e same time? That's so cool!!! Way easier than in PI
@darkrangersinc
@darkrangersinc 6 месяцев назад
Good question! I just bring it in as a separate tiff, File > Open > Stars Layer. 16 bit tiff just like the nebula
@user-nd3sj1rr4l

This was all very useful. One question: Any thoughts on using Topaz Denoise versus Topaz Photo AI near the end of the process?
@darkrangersinc
@darkrangersinc 6 месяцев назад
Great question I have only used it on a one on one throw zoomwith somebody who has the full suite. It’s pretty cool, I also have topaz sharpening. I do like AI when I kind of have full control over it but I don’t like a lot of automated editing if that makes sense? Like removing noise or sharpening something like that is great for AI for me. But having it analyze the photo and just do kind of a button edit isn’t what I’m looking for right now and I think it’s really tough to do for Astro. I think having the whole set up though is nice to have and if you can get it on sale sometimes it’s almost the same price to just buy the full system versus buying two individual apps like I did. So, in that case, I don’t see any harm in it. They keep making updates, so it’s only going to get better!

what version of PS do I need with the plug ins ie Camera Raw and Topaz.
@darkrangersinc
@darkrangersinc 6 месяцев назад
You just need to sign up for their creative cloud monthly subscription and it'll always have the most recent updated version. But I have had camera raw and Topaz working for years.

I know ababsolutely nothing about Photoshop. What version of PS are you using or recommend?... Thanks
@darkrangersinc
@darkrangersinc 6 месяцев назад
Adobe Photoshop 2024. It’s a subscription based software from the Adobe Creative Cloud. It’s fairly reasonable for $9.99 you get room and Photoshop I use Lightroom on my phone to do any final touching before posting to social media as well which is a nice bonus it also has 100 GB of cloud that I put my final images in if anything ever happens to my main hard drive or my back up I’ll at least have those!

@@LLA2008 no problem as you can see it has a lot of tools and capabilities that PI just doesn’t have so it’s definitely worth taking advantage of

@darkrangersinc
@darkrangersinc 6 месяцев назад
Yeah, like I said, I do have a full length tutorial for my whole workflow. This was more of just a segment on the colors. I think if you are willing to pause though I show where I’m going to find everything and any short keys I’m using a call out so somebody could follow along, even if they were new. The only thing I didn’t cover was opening the image which would just be file open like most other programs but otherwise, maybe give it a try with some data and just pause along the way
