Test idea: Pancake air compressors. I think your viewers would love to see this showdown! Some ideas for test parameters: tire inflation time, reservoir fill time, usage before refill, air distance and speed, safety features, tank/hose leakage, and possibly quality control. Does this include hotdog style under 8 gallons? You're on... 🛠️ I have a modified nail gun compressor that I use in my shop. Puts out 4.2 cfms. Refills fast. Uses automotive hook up. Industrial connectors leak air a little bit. Runs everything but a body saw. Those need 5 cfms+

Love your channel. I think the reason the turpentine seemed to make the engine dirty was because it was cleaning the carbon out of the intake and off the valves.

Fun fact: Turpentine has 10% more BTU/gal than gasoline so a 50/50 mix should be expected to run 5% longer on an EFI engine. Your test matches that result. Turpentine also has a similar octane rating to gasoline.

@@YouGotsTheRabies if it was carbureted yes, but the EFI will adjust automatically based on oxygen sensor input.

@@YouGotsTheRabies jets are calibrated for the proper air to fuel ratio not btu. Since the carburator pulls fuel based on the venturi effect, more energetic fuels will tend to raise the rpm causing the governor to close the throttle valve lowering the air flow and reducing fuel to match. This will make the engine use only enough fuel to maintain the same rpm. Of course re-jetting could help if it requires a different air to fuel ratio. Fuels with higher btus should run longer for the same load

This is definitely one of the most underrated channels on RU-vid. The content can be a bit dry at times, but the methodology is always solid and very well documented. It's that documentation that contributes to the dry content, but it also means that even if I don't want to watch the video all the way through, I can jump straight to the relevant parts without fear of missing anything. I always know I'm going to get good information when I click a Project Farm video.

Having pulled a 3t road roller with a tractor using a lifting strap, not even doubled over, I have to admit this one has me curious too! Don't get me wrong that strap went right in the bin afterwards despite no visible damage, but it was just a general farm strap, no real rating over a ton, not like the comparatively well made construction industry ones

When seeing the see through engine you could definitely advance spark timing on that engine. Normal gasoline can handle that easily. Now spark is about top dead Center. You want earlier timing so the flame can develope and hit its peak combustion around top dead center and not after. It will even make

You would have to find one that has a very high methanol content. Or blend your own without any water. Most winter windshield washer fluids are a methanol water blend with colorings. Thanks

Video suggestion: Home-extracted fish oil as a substitute for 2-stroke oil. My great-grandfather was an avid fisherman, and he saved the remains of his catches in a freezer. When he'd accumulated enough, he boiled the oil out and used that stuff for all sorts of applications--most commonly, to coat farming implements to prevent corrosion from the ammonia-rich mud and vegetation around his chicken houses. He occassionally mentioned that he also ran it in his chainsaws. I always suspected he was yanking my leg: as I don't recall ever once seeing him add it into a gas can. But nonetheless, I've always wondered...

For winter, did we test what melts snow / ice better yet? Like regular rock salt, those fancy salt pellets and not sure what else we can test that's in their part of the world that melts snow and ice. See how it melts snow when its slightly warmer (like midday, sun's out not freezing cold weather when someone would be shoveling), freezing cold (its just basically kept snowing like a blizzard for a few days so temp's still too cold to melt by itself). And which product keeps the snow and ice off the driveway better after a period of time.

cocodojo hello, years ago the lumber yard I bought from. , had POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, from ISRAEL, DEAD SEA. WORKED TO -35^F, LEFT NO OILY RESEDUE, or white tracks, nor was injurious to dogs feet, I used to but much, also for a friend in BAYSIDE NY, those reports came from her as she had large dogs. Turpentine likely has a different stoichiometric afr than gasoline, so running pure turpentine without adjusting the injection amount is going to result in the engine running too learn or too rich, which is why you are seeing more deposits, its incomplete combustion. I can't find the stoich afr for turpentine offhand, but I can check later.

Stoich ratio is only off by 10% so likely not enough to matter for deposits. Based on this test and what I know it would seem that turpentine is a great solvent but a dirtier burning fuel than gasoline. This makes sense as turpentine was a competitor to gasoline in the early 20th century and it lost out.

It should be an octane booster. The motor should have a more advanced spark timing to burn it fully in the chamber or it will soot up. Spark timing is set for fast burning low octane gasl on those motors

@@ProjectFarm I know from my personal testing Kerosene in motor oil and rear axle gets better MPG's. When temps got below minus 10*F, 1 qt. Kerosene in motor oil MY school buss's started right up, all the other mechanics needed booster jumps. They never asked how I did it. It was safe, through the day that kerosene evaporated out. .. Learned that trick from old farmers (era 1950's).

Great video again. Coming into the snow/rust season I would love to see a spray paint test on best rust preventative or paint over rusted areas and see what works the best. I’ve been using Rust-Oleum Professional, wanted to see if there’s anything better that holds up to the elements and salt. POR-15 seems to fade over time.

while i've never used turpentine in a gas engine, i HAVE ran a percentage of acetone to help pass the Calif smog test.... works great btw.

If you have ever seen finding nemo, remember when nemo got into the fish tank at the dentist's office? And how they told him to watch out for his neice? I think the day Todd brought home that nice new Ryorbi generator, the lawn mowers had some words of advice...When Todd brings his camera crew and a jug of some mysterious liquid, watch out! :) I think you should try and find a used/beat up tuba and hook that up to the farmabago exhaust!

Thanks for the test- very entertaining. I've heard early Honda motorcycles were first made to run on "pine oil," and I'm guessing it's a similar product to turpentine- and that's completely believable witnessing the results of your tests!

I used to use coleman fuel in my 5th scale RC's and it worked great. The main reason was it did not stink up the car when transporting them around but never noticed any less performance from it. Never tried turps in them though.
