Unpopular opinion: I would love to see a storyline or fanfiction that points this out. Since Chat Blanc and seeing Marinette break into his room multiple times, I want to see a situation where Adrien sees Marinette's obsession and gets angry at her for it. If there was a reveal you could see Adrien disgusted by her actions and maybe even stops the friendship or doesn't want to be the sidekick to a superhero who should be acting like a decent person but actually is a jealous stalker. Even worse, at the end of Puppetier 2, Adrien tells Marinette that he is in love with someone and she still doesn't stop. In Season 4 it got better but she still dismisses Chat Noir and forces Adrien and Kagami to get back together.
@@Melansquqy If I want to rewrite this special, I just swept away Cat Noir and just focus about Marinette in this one. And make this story is being told by Fei's perspective instead of Marinette. and that thing you just talked. Well, at least its better than NY special tho. Now I'm nervous with other Miraculous world specials too.
@@aria-fantrexian5574 Exactly, flip the script and people would be try to cancel Adrien and telling the writers to just take him off the show entirely. But here's it funny because *w o m e n*
@@anapadinha907 except for the fact that chrismater comes out after chat blanc. So even if the timeline got messed up ladybug still broke into adrien' room and sniffed his pillows
I still can't believe that was an actual Episode! Right until the last Second, I was convinced that this was all a Dream, because Santa Clause turned up in it. I mean....how can it NOT be revealed to have been a crazy Dream of an overworked Marinette all along?!
I'm just wondering why these specials even exist. The writers seem to have enough trouble making the show, why divert resources to movies that don't matter in the end?
iinm Miraculous originally supposed to be a thing with their own rules, but ZAG basically make them being inserted into part of the ZAG Heroes universe.
At least we had Doorman, he was pretty cool But in all seriousness I at least liked Sparrow/Eagle and Aeon. And the concept of a miraculous team being created in the US with different miraculouses is interesting The other heroes and the renlings kinda just exist to me.
Fei's backstory should have been dropped in the later half of the movie, not the introduction. When Fei and Marinette are running to the burned school grounds, that's where she should have narrated to Marinette her story, leaving the part that she stole her things out so the events of the movie could happen as normal. I think that would have fitted better.
To be honest and this is a bit off-topic from the special but I think Miraculous had so much potential. A love square, superheroes, the villain your fighting is your dad, the miraculous. Each character had so much potential. As much as I enjoy Adrien, he seems so perfect. Any real flaws are never really touched on or are very subtle. Like I would have loved to see Adrien maybe having trust or commitment issues because of the trauma his dad caused. Cause it would have meant development. Cat Noir is being treated as a sidekick for a while. Marinette being a stalker and falling in love with the idea of Adrien. That concept of Marinette falling for the idea of Adrien would have been a very interesting and character development storyline. That's why as much as I enjoy miraculous I wish we could have seen Felix and Bridgette from the PV instead cause to me they could have used a lot more opportunities for character development. Even Adrien and Marinette had a possibility of good development in its concepts. But it wasn't executed well. Even if it's "just a kid's show" that doesn't mean there can be meaningful development. Like take a look at ATLA, it was an amazing show with its own flaws but it knew where it was going and doing and how the characters' stories would play out and be meaningful. In conclusion, Miraculous is a show that had the potential to be great but fell flat.
I agree with just about everything in this post. Honestly, the reason I like Felix and Bridgette better (aside from my 2d animation bias) is because I feel like Bridgette would have been more grounded than Marinette and Felix would have had a clear character arc for development unlike Adrien.
I think the akumas also could have been interesting. I'm surprised people talk about them so little. When you think about it, they're kinda terrifying.
I’m just waiting for Miraculous to do something with Adrian and cat noir. Because as far as I know, The show wants you to care about him get treats him like a joke. And he has the potential to be just as good as a character as Marinette\ladybug but they choose not to and it’s annoying to me
Adrien has a ton of potential its a shame. Like come on!! His whole concept is so cool. His mother died, hes a sheltered rich teenager whos a celebrity and has to keep on a good face to be liked by the public so therefore he always plays this fake nice persona when in reality hes just a goofy jokester, he constantly tries to please his father because he actually loves his father but its never good enough. Then this sheltered teen finally gets to go to public school and has friends for the first time, then he becomes a superhero and gets the chance to be himself, and best of all, the villain he is fighting is his father. theres soo much potential, i hate how he is treated as a dumb sidekick whos only good to serve as a shield for ladybug, the show is miraculous the adventures of ladybug and chat noir, not miraculous the adventures of ladybug and ladybug
I agree. I've always preferred Marinette as a character because at least she's a proactive protagonist with skills and interests and flaws she tries to overcome. Adrien is just...boring. He's a boring character who could be interesting if the writers actually explored some of the few character traits he has (his issues with self entitlement, for example). But no, as Adrien he's either moping or acting as generically "nice" as possible, and as Chat Noir he either messes about or acts as a meat shield.
Honestly in many ways I prefer the version of him in the 2D concept video, 'cause there it seemed like he had a way bigger role, and seemed to be an interesting character. Like, the ring didn't come of, and while it gave him powers it also caused bad luck. And as Chat Noir he was way more animated and lively. The current version of Adrian has potential to be interesting, but the show never does anything with him so he just turned out sorta bland...
@@luciap5365 Precisely. I never call this show "Miraculous Ladybug" because it makes Ladybug seem more important than Chat Noir. I always call it "Miraculous" or use the full title. Adrien is my favorite character and I hope they use him more to his full potential because Marinette/Ladybug is given a lot more solo screen time than him and it's a shame
The only thing that I really liked about this special is that Marinette was actually likeable person here. If you forget about the whole reason why she went to Shanghai in the first place, she was actually cute. I don't really like her character in the show, because writers are kinda failing to make her as great as they're claiming her to be. But in this special she is nice and isn't annoying. But in general, yeah, there is nothing really special in this special :P
I'm gonna be honest, the biggest issue I had with this movie was that it has little to do with the current time we're at in the show. I would have much preferred that this movie came out before the NY special- at least for the sake of continuity. I quite liked it visually, and I enjoyed Fei's introduction- but there's little to be excited about as whatever character development (specifically for Marinette and Adrien) that was in the movie doesn't matter in the end.. But that's just me 😄
I totally agree!! After finding out that it took place in seasons 2 or 3, before the Season 3 finale, I was kind of disappointed. I also think it just had REALLY unfortunate timing in airing right next to the beginning of season 4. I remember mainly being so excited for this special for more content from the show (since we were in hiatus and didn’t think the show was coming back till September), but by the time it actually came out I was waaay more invested in season 4 (which started airing late March) to really care that much and adding the fact it was kind of boring and didn’t have much Adrien and Marinette interactions really didn’t help.
When they showed that Marinette had TRACKING APP to find Adrien I just wanted to die. THOMAS THIS ISN'T CUTE. Fr he's the reason why people think men can't write for teenage girls.
I wanna know HOW she has it. She's a silly little 14 year old in a bakery. She's not rich like Adrien. They don't even interact enough for her to plant it. This is Edward Cullen and Christian Grey levels of stalking and yet it's portrayed as ok. A silly little quirk.
@@bessieburnet9816 it's funny becus I remember marinette saying in in season'1 episode puppeteer that she wouldn't want to give adrien the idea that she's stalking him on the train. And now in season 3 SHE'S DOING IT BRUH
That's Thomas for ya. Instead of accepting that your show is total shit and trying to fix it in season 5, nope ignore all the issues, amplify them by 1000 and make more writing issues. I gave up on the show a long time ago, it just won't get better.
Honestly the writers should stop giving us pointless specials that have no real impact on the story and give us a special on Gabriel’s and Emily’s past. How they meet, their childhoods, how their relationship really was, and why she used the peacock miraculous to point where she got sick but I feel like they’ll even butcher that.
@DD - 05DB 960849 Queenston Drive PS Ahh thank you. I didn't watch the movie now did I pay full attention to what she called them and in the show they call them kwamii so thanks
as a biracial asian with chinese roots, it completely rubbed me the wrong way with how marinette treated her uncle during her trip there under the pretense of "connecting with her roots". I have family in hong kong that im not able to see due to the violence and corruption going on there and i'd do anything to see them. using family as a lie to stalk ur crush isn't cute, it's very hurtful ngl. edit: in the end though, the movie wasn't completely terrible. I enjoyed it
Exactly. Especially with how disconnected from her Chinese heritage she is. She doesn't even look Aisan. You could trick me into believing Sabine wasn't her biological mother. Apart from Cheng, nothing could convince me Marinette is Asian if I didn't already know. Compare that to Kagami, who isn't biracial, but they show her Japanese heritage. And just... the manipulation Marinette resorts too. Ugh.
@@royalblanket Yeah, but they could have at least given her the eyes or whatever. This could have been great Aisan rep. How many Aisan main characters in cartoons have you seen? And with her absolute discontent from her Chinese culture, she should very well look like one. It's just really lazy Aisan representation. I completely forgot she was Aisan for ages. I shouldn't have to forget such a fundamental part of who Marinette is. And imagine how great it would be for Aisan kids to see themselves in the big hero? They really failed making an Aisan character, and if we removed that aspect of her, it would not change Marinette in the slightest.
@@bessieburnet9816 they gave her more native features in the old concept but i think it got changed because of marketing purposes, its sad really. im glad they at least acknowledge her heritage in the show, hopefully we get an episode where we see her in traditional clothing or something
The thing I hated most about this special was the renlings thing. I mean serious, why do the kwamis need cousins??? That sounds so freaking stupid. And it doesn't make sense, either. Kwamis are representations of abstract concepts, and renlings are representations of human virtues, but aren't human virtues also abstract concepts??? I also hated that they kept bringing up that renling are "more powerful" than kwamis but tf turning into animals does not equal time travel. I mean seriously ladybug and chat noir have the powers of creation and destruction and bringing their miraculous together can LITERALLY bend the fabric of reality to grant any wish - you can't compare that to turning into a snake. All their doing is trying to expand the universe while devaluing one of the unique aspects of the show - the miraculous themselves! This is the same problem I had with the new york special, adding in other heroes with powers independent of miraculous jewels just make the miraculous seem less special and makes things confusing. I would much rather the show stick to powers only coming from the miraculous and thus there being a very limited number of heroes in the world, thus upping the stakes. I mean, if New York has superheroes, why doesn't anywhere else have them? Why doesn't Paris have other superheroes? Why doesn't France have superheroes besides LB and CN? Where are they? Why aren't they helping with the Hawkmoth situation?? Hawky is getting more crafty and is almost winning more and more, so I'd think any help would be good help. We know why they aren't other miraculous heroes because of the guardian rules, but why aren't other non-miraculous heroes helping? Are you telling me that New York is the ONLY place on planet Earth that has superheroes besides Paris? I don't believe that BS.
I thought it was weird as well that the prodigious is supposedly more powerful than the miraculous. If it is more powerful ttey need to be more specific on how because the miraculous seem way more powerful especially when you combine Ladybug and Chat noir's miraculous, so would that mean that lady Fei can surpass that
You know what I was thinking (or at least hoping) of when I heard about the New York special? I was hoping that New York would have the same type of superhero protection system as Paris. Superheroes with their respective miraculouses *ALSO* being teenagers and, you know, protecting their city and stuff. Same with any other city county. wouldn't that be more cooler? I'm tempted to make a fanfiction of it. 😂
@@miss_chelles1338 EXACTLY. Though I do wonder how they would keep it within the canon rules. After all, the black cat and ladybug miraculous were only activated because another miraculous was being used for evil. Would the same thing apply, or would these other heroes just be able to use them to do general good? Though, to be honest, I would have preferred that the only miraculous to exist would be the ones in the main miracle box. That keeps it special. By having a ton of miraculous around, it just makes the miraculous we see in the show less unique, less mysterious
@@canobeans4712 I was actually thinking of the same thing when you mentioned about Canon rules. I had the idea someone else would also use a miraculous to do evil while the miraculous holders who do good can combat that. Ofcourse, since that would be pretentious and repetitive if that happened in every other capital city around the world, New York would be the only other city to have that happen.
5:52 EXACTLY how does after showing her traits, building her character in the entire movie, she magically masters all the her those traits except for j u s t i c e where the hell is the build up-
Yeah that was super boring and after how many years has the show been going they still can't figure out what to do with Adrien as once again he is just there not really doing anything
You know, If Marinette and Adrien were good friends at this point they could have just went "Hey. I wanna visit my family in Shanghai." "Cool. My father is opening a store in Shanghai. Wanna come with?" Boom, they are in Shanghai, they hang out a bit and then the plot happens.
@@bessieburnet9816 exactly, we're 4 seasons in and nothing about their relationship has really changed, which is holding the show back, and I'm Disappointed.
They’ve done him dirty in general. I personally find Cat Noir more interesting than Ladybug, and considering that he has had wayyyy less screen time and he’s mostly favorited over Ladybug says something.
Except for the fact that Zuko is an infinitely better character than Fei could ever, ever aspire to be even in her dreams, and he is actually honorable.
@@o7o6o5o4o3 well geez... don't be that mean to fei. and could you blame her? This will probably be her only appearance in this series of a hole, so I wouldn't be surprised that they'd written her so poorly, (even though I kind of like her).
@@miss_chelles1338 Oh this isn't an attack on Fei...this is an attack on the writers. Fei's actions were supposed to show honour but didn't come of that way at all. In fact she didn't come of that great as the video said. And it is sad that we probably won't see more of her, maybe if we did she could have had more of a character. And even if she was well written, Zuko is one of the best written fictional characters ever, so high bar. No hate at all. No hate.
My biggest thing with these specials is that they're kind of... irrelevant? Like they don't really add much to the story-- in the NY special there were some cute Adrinette moments and (even though it was a bit dark) the plotline with Adrien's fears of rejection and responsibility was pretty interesting. That said, the writing was honest to god so hard to get through. I get Marinette is an anxious wreck but I felt like it was so heavy-handed that it was hard to watch. The Shanghai special was better, but honestly, Marinette using her parents' savings to chase Adrien under the guise of learning more about her culture felt kind of,, off. I feel like we could have done without these specials and they should really use the budget allotted for them to make higher quality episodes.
Apparently they did the Ny special cause in the episode with Bunnix talking about Future Ladybug taking down Majestia evil twin sister. The creators want us to know the place & characters first before maybe seeing them take down the evil sister in the future. What I notice in the show is that they may put useless stuff from the start but it slowly comes back around
@@littlesparrow303 There are apparently also ALIENS in the Miraculous Universe. As well as two future Super Villains who might be Alya's little Sisters.

The movie was great but I had two issues. 1. Chat Noir Once again, yall are leaving my baby out of everything:( 2.Marinette and her roots. In the movie the only reason why she went to Shanghai in the first place is because of Adrien. NGL I would've preferred her coming to Shanghai if it went like this. Marinette finds out her relatives birthday is on the way and since she's on her summer holidays, and hasn't seen Hawkmoth she takes it. While packing she calls Alya to tell her and she gets this: M: Hey Alya, I have to tell you something A: Huh, what? M: I'm going to Shanghai for a relatives birthday so I won't really be available A: Wow, lucky . Guess who's going there too? M:You? A: No, silly. Adrien M: A-Adrien *bLusHes CUteLy OwOozOoOo* *bEgIns To StAMmeR* A: Yea, he only found out now. So if you see him, try to stay cool, Kay? Then the two talk back to each to other before ending the call. Now Marinette doesn't wanna go cuz she knows herself well but then convinces herself, this isn't for Adrien but for her family. Idk smth like this would've been nice. But I'm not a writer so I wouldn't know 🤔 Overall it was meh but I prefer this over NYC any day
OMG yes! I thought that the two being in Shanghai at the same time was going to be a coincidence, but NO! Mari just had to continue being a stalker 😡!!!
....I’m actually TERRIFIED for the “African” special because Austruc has already shown how he feels about black people *cough racist comic about black men cough cough*. And no offense but the outfits they designed for it are TRASH. Why are they in white and blonde? Africa has a super colorful palette-ridiculous. Anyways! At least from what people are saying this is better than the New York special, thank god! I still won’t watch it regardless, but happy they’re finally getting decent at writing 😂😂👍👍 Amazing review!
Also where is it going to be in Africa because they just called the Africa special on the 5 year content plan. Do they not know that Africa is a continent? It just seem not much research and what there going to do
its really worrying bc in lots of pieces of media they make africa look like a jungle filled with homeless children without water. this show is known for its horrible cliches so i wouldnt be surprised if they took that route 😭
I hope the place in Africa they choose is Egypt, especially cos within the lore Egypt is where the first ever ladybug was born if i remember correctly, if thats NOT the case, then it would pretty good fanfic material
What bugged me the most about this special was the timeline presented. It just made me wonder how long Gabriel knew about the predecessor Miraculous, how old Fei is and how long ago some of the stuff was and I was just confused. It did seem to imply, if I recall correctly, that the key to the predecessor Miraculous was sold to Gabriel 15 years ago, when Fei doesn't look any older than 15 herself, so when was the thing stolen from her? And why did Gabriel have any interest in the thing 15 years ago, when his whole reason for going evil superpower terrorist on everything is his wife that died/disappeared about a year prior to the first Hawkmoth attack?
Head canon of mine rn: I believe that Gabriel had been curious about Miraculouses and stuff around it amd wanted to learn more since before his wife went into a coma since they have had the peacock amd butterfly miraculous amd I believe a book (unless I somehow made that up). So that would explain why he had an interest.
Okay but like fei's outfit in her ladydragon form was total TRASH. like i didn't really care much bout her but i cared enough to think she does not deserve her ladydragon form... and really, "LADYDRAGON"!? what kind of name is that??? i hope she have at least a better name in other dubs like... the concept art was WAY more better, especially the ones based on Bruce Lee. Other than fei's outfit annoying me, one of the top annoying things that even got me more angry, sad, DISSAPPOINTED was Marinette's "reason" for coming with her uncle. right when she made that reason up knowing darn well she's only going to stalk adrian just pissed me off SO BAD

I'm still floored at how Marinette managed to become even creepier, by travelling across the planet to meet a boy, and then losing her stuff while she's on the manhunt. 💀
The Shanghai special is way better than the new york special The new york special: I hope you really like adrienette because we will force adrienette down your throat for 99% of this special The Shanghai special: yeah we have a little bit of shipping but the main focus is on fei, and the feeling of being lost in foreign land without having anything to assist you to teach you that you can't always rely on technology. That is a brief summary of how i feel.
In the beginning, I really disliked Marinette because she used the opportunity that her parents saved up for and hoped for to stalk Adrien. She was kinda happy and excited to meet her relative but mostly she was there for Adrien and that really rubbed me the wrong way. That took her relationship to Adrien from crush to *OBSESSION*
Fei is not the most perfect character ever but I would gladly take her over the characters we got in the New York special. This statement has not age well Fei is boring in my opinion and the special is boring as hell.
@2026Alia Hijli she lacks a sense of self and is easily manipulated, causing her to act depending on what others want her to be. It can be a huge flaw actually. Also, we've only gotten two episodes with her.
I'm surprised you didn't mention how they dropped the whole renlings, spirit (the lion thing that apparently ISNT a kwami but something else completely they never explained, or the prodigious thing were just dropped in with no exposition/foreshadowing which they probably won't mention again ever. Cause that's what irked me the most about this special as mediocre as it was. The renling thing felt like a repeat of most miraculouses and we never actually saw how any of it connected to why Hawkmoth wanted it.. how they're even related to kwami's or how it even affects the lore. Everyone just accepted it existed. Like proper implementation of new lore elements please- I feel like they just wanted an excuse to make a movie in a different setting. Also just the fact they didn't even try to hide how tropey fei is. I mean... the dead parent, spewing honor every 5 seconds, the kung-fu, dragon ability, feistiness, and even the asian-girl hair streak (I guess points for it not being blue but red this time at least..!) We really don't need more hairstreak asians in cartoons.
in terms of world building this show never knew and never will know where its going. in season 1 it felt like 2 superheroes trying to save a city, in the season 2 finale they pulled some avengers type shit, season 3 felt like my hero academia with the whole class having superpowers, the new york special is just filled with dc and marvel ripoffs, and the shanghai special is just them setting tension for lore that will never be mentioned again
Sometimes I wish Thomas wasn’t the creator of the show or at least just had the idea and somebody went along with it because the way the fans Rewriting the show is amazing. Also that the show could’ve been an anime. When they couldn’t do the spots on ladybugs outfit it was just lazy to me because there’s other alternatives
for me this has more focus and not just random plots and ideas inserted here than the movie one so its better along with the quality,,, but i hated that marinette only went here for adrien- yeah it showed mari genuinely likes to bond with her uncle there but the will to see adrien over shadows it so much
This, this right here is the only reason I didn't feel bad for her when she got lost and her miraculous was stolen. At that point is was well deserved karma.
Alright. No doubt the members of the filmmaking group are able to animate, edit, and design characters appearance wise. Well, it's quite obvious that they are putting too much effort into the basic shell of moviemaking, rather than writing a quality plot that will attract much more watchers and positive reviews. Look here Astruc. Adding new characters and introducing new locations in your show doesn't do anything for your storyline. I'm assuming you no longer care about that, based on the circling of events we see in Seasons 1, 2, and 3 of your original show. What you're doing is basically ripping off the Carmen Sandiego animated series released in 2019, except separating things into "specials" and forming a much more blatant chain of events that amounts to nothing in the end. Note: Solely my opinion, probably won't impact anything, just putting it out there
I don't see anyone ever mention how much of an awful person Marinette is in this special. She's surprised that Adrien can't join their group activities (which, I don't know why she is because this happens fairly often) and is headed for Shanghai. Instead of being a sensible human being and simply waiting for him to get back, she lies to her parents about how she really wants to visit her uncle for his first birthday he'll ever celebrate when in reality, she just wants to see the boy she likes in person because she can't spend a few days away from him. I can't stand Marinette anymore I want to rip my hair out.
It's not even because Lila is there and she feels like Lila's going to take advantage of the situation and begin dating Adrien, it's just because he's going to be there and there was no reason for this plotline. It could've just been that Marinette and her family are going to Shanghai on a family vacation for her uncle's birthday and Marinette is bummed since she'll be away from Adrien until she eventually realizes that Adrien isn't the most important person in the world and begins enjoying her time and learning more about her Chinese heritage.
Why not make a special about Adrien/Cat Noir? Like he’s way more movie worthy and like his backstory is actually interesting CONSIDERING HIS FATHER IS NOT ONLY HAWKMOTH BUT WAS A MIRACULOUS HOLDER AT ONE POINT. Other than Master Fu he’s the only adult that really knows about kwamaiis and the only thing we know about why he turned into hawkmoth was because his wife died. It couldn’t have only been that, maybe other factors led him to being hawk moth. What if he was already leaning into being hawk moth and his wife’s death was the straw that broke the camels back? What about adrien? Why not explore his daddy issues, why not make him a more … emotionally volatile character? They had a good thing going with Chat Blanc! They should use him! I’ve seen better fanfics and comics use chat noir, hawkmoth, and chat blanc than the show :/ Adrien has a lot of potential ://

Yes, she's sassy and sarcastic, but that's just to show that she dislikes where the show is heading now. I hate when reviewers act overly aggressive, and I actually like how calm she is.
I didn't even pay attention to the special when my brother was watching it, I just noticed that Fei was voiced by Xanthe Huynh (One of my favorite English voice actresses) and I kinda stuck around without understanding a lot (Me and my friends stopped watching even before season 1 was over because we were getting tired on how repetitive the show was) just to hear Xanthe's performance (Which was pretty good imo). At least my brother enjoyed it and he enjoys the show, that makes me happy :D
If you watch the orgin episodes, as well as volpina, those will hopefully get you a little more intrigued into the show. (as much of a mess as it is 😅).
I love Xanthe so much. When she announced it, I was like "Oh no, they dragged her into this too... First Faye Mata, now her..." I best go see her performance. I only know her softer characters (Marianne and Haru) so it'll be interesting to see how she handles a tough cookie
I really enjoyed the special, Fei was so protective of Mari all night when they barely met, grabbed her 7 times & apologized to her unlike Mari’s friends. Honestly they had way more chemistry together than Adrientte all 3 seasons. I wish Fei was part of the show bc she would have been so good to Mari. Also that if people were accepting of lgbt they would have made a healthy pairing. I agree that Mari’s character was way better in this. Never realized Fei has the same backstory as Adrien & realize that Mari has a type
I will honestly say that I have not watched any of these specials beyond reviews but I feel like if your gonna make specials, make there be something in it that makes it worth watching. For me,(who had friends that did watch them) none of these specials don’t have anything to add to the show beyond ship baiting in New York and this one adding another side character that we won’t see till probably the last season of whenever this show wants to end. I feel that instead of adding lore and characters in these specials, they should focus on the characters they already have, who are basically just all caricatures and most have miraculous, and just flesh them out more. Have marionette hang out with Alya again and bring back the fox miraculous. Have adrien and nino hang out too and talk about how adrien is feeling and nino trying to let him be a kid and not the perfect model son. Instead their just adding new miraclouses, new places, new characters that we know are just going to be quickly abandoned for the next special. Honestly, instead of having a new character they could have easily just had marionette spend time with her uncle, maybe have him tell the legend of these new miraculous, and then have her and maybe alya or adrien come with her to investigate the arsoned building and fei’s dead master. Now if we need to have fei be involved than have her work with marinnette’s uncle in his restaurant, have her tell her sob story, they become friends, and fei proves her self by the end that she is worthy of the new miraculouses. I just feel there’s so much they could be doing instead of falling into “Look at all these new characters and places! I’m sure our fans will love them and then toss them aside for the next new characters and places!”
marinette has nice parents who didn't force her to go to china anyway, the entire purpose of the trip was to learn about her ancestry and culture but NO adrien is far more important. i seriously will never get her obsession with adrien.
Let’s be honest. CHAT NOIR/ADRIEN IS BECOMING USELESS. I think instead of making every student at their school a superhero they should focus on maybe making an episode where ladybug NEEDS CHATNOIR and cHatNoIr gets to do more of the work.
Yes they forget the show is called miraculous ladybug and cat noir. It’s really sad because they can do so much and making them equal instead of ladybug being the main character which she is but they make him look like a side character
It's like they were trying to imitate Anime Tuxedo Mask. Thing is tho, in the source material manga, Tuxedo Mask was useful, more than throwing roses and telling Usagi to believe in herself. The anime creators changed a lot about him and the Sailor Moon manga. Chat Noir is just straight up being ignored here.
The Shanghai Special honestly sounds pretty good on Paper, and I enjoyed it much more than United Heroes, but Gale raised very fair Points. And because rewriting Season 1 of the She-Ra Reboot was a lot of Fun for me, I will now try to rewrite this Story as well. Fei's Role as the Orphan Thief with the Heart of Gold is a bit overdone, but it isn't necessarily *bad*. I would have given the Girl the Prodigious from the very start. When we first meet Fei, we would only hear the disembodied Voices of the Renlings at first, who try everything they can to keep the Girl on the right Path and also try to teach her the important Values- which she unconsciously already starts to show. Fei got the Amulett from her Father, who wanted to train her to be its next Wielder, but he never got around to it because he was busy trying to keep the Dojo afloat, which was sabotaged by King Cash and his Goons. Once the Dojo burns and Fei is homeless, the King occasionally sends anonymously Gangster after her to make her Life miserable and interfere with her Pickpocketing. All of this serves only one Purpose: To make Fei desperate enough to sell the Prodigious. Because here is the Twist: The Artifact is kinda like the Millennium Puzzle. It cannot be stolen. It has to be given away willingly, otherwise it's Powers won't work. Marinette will come to Shanghai NOT to stalk Adrien, but to actually spend Time with her Relatives. She only comes across her Crush by Accident, and *then* proceeds to follow him around, until she gets robbed by Fei- who also owns a Motorcycle in this Version, because I liked Gales Idea of her being a Mechanic. And because I think it's cool. 😅 And because I think it could add to Fei's Dilemma: Do I risk using what little Money I have to buy Fuel for my Bike so I can indulge in my "Need for Speed" and feel happy and free for a short while? I am not yet sure how Adrien would stumble across Fei, maybe she meets both Protagonists separately while trying to pickpocket them? There should definitely be a Scene where Fei pretends to be a poor, confused, non-englisch speaking Girl, only for Adrien to answer her in fluent Chinese. 😄 Now I only need to think of a Power that makes the Prodigious as powerful and dangerous as it is supposed to be. And that's exactly where I am running out of Ideas. If anyone has some, I would love to hear them.
Honestly, what gets me the most is that Marinette tricked her parents into booking for a flight that very same day. I don't know how it is in France, but booking a flight is something you should do months ahead because of the prices scaling. Her parents run a bakery, she should know the value of money ffs, that's something Chloe would do. They could've EASILY just write it as if Mari was already in Shanghai visiting for her uncle's birthday and have Alya calling her to tell her Adrien just so happens to be visiting for a photo shoot, but nooooo, improvising an intercontinental flight and tracking a boy through his gps location to plan to "accidentally" bump into him and go on a date. Is so much funnier and cute! /s
There has been something wrong with the pacing or timing in Miraculous, like everything just happens like it’s being jumbled together which feels wrong and the dialogue sounds emotionless, or irrational. For example S4 ep6, that Zoey girl’s narrative everything felt so rushed and there wasn’t a single pause where the characters could breathe, so the whole episode is just a bunch of things happening one after an other with no proper transition and it feels like it’s all literally happened in 20 minutes. That is literally how it feels like there was really no break at all😭😭 I mean everything happened in one day in 20 minutes. So we’re like “why the heck do you even care about this Zoey person? You met her 20 minutes ago!!!
So this was a thing for me, how in the heck did Marinette not notice her earrings and all her stuff being stolen like the bag I can kinda of understand but the earrings how?!
Marinette could have just coincidentally knew Adrien came to china while she was with her uncle and alta told her in the phone but nooooo she had to stalk him with a tracking like a cr33p
the only thin that actually bothered me in this movie is how marinette lied to her parents and his uncle, saying she was interested in knowing more of his cultural heritage and visit her uncle for his birthday, but she only wanted to follow adrien and have the chance to see him for like....3 hours before they both got back to paris and i'm supossed to like her???
Really?! I saw a timeline that the company put out that the special is between S3/4 & the Ny was S2/3. I know Thomas said it was the other way around but I’ll go with the timeline
4:05 ~ I'd say PLEASE DO! It would be much more believable for her character to do small jobs, than straight up resort to immediate thieving. If she was coerced by the guy maybe would make sense. But the movie made it look like it was easier to get money from Marinette? (seriously, what made Marinette look like she had money?) 7:10 ~ Lost opportunity ... it was a perfect time to make a call back to when Chat had that motivational speech to Ladybug on Origins. What would even add more to the "Vengeance vs Justice" thing, since the movie made a point of excluding Chat from everything else, it would add a impersonal view in the situation. (I actually think the speech should be more "forget what happened and focus on what you have to do" for her Dilemma. Since I think "you're already a good person = justice" doesn't roll too well) But nooooo! Why Chat here again? Oh, yeah, his name is in the title ... in some countries ... 8:30 ~ They actually could make it A LOT more quicker if she had to go there for her uncle in the first place. THEN find out that Adrien was also there. I still don't get it how the writers think her stalker behavior is cute or funny. Last question ~ Why is it that they leaving Paris without talking to the other such a big deal in the previous one. But this one they didn't even acknowledge it? By the way ... I still think it would be much more easy if they used the Horse!
I was wondering why her miraculous transformation looked so familiar! There were many people saying that she look a bit "White washed" compare to her normal appearance, I didn't see it.. until you mention Pyrrha and now that's all I see! Don't think they rip it off but at this point with how many transformations they have I wouldn't be surprised if they ran out of ideas.
I just remember something. Didnt the episode 'Princess perfum' mention there was a made up place called the Kingdom of Achua? Why not create a special around that place? It seems like a really missed opportunity to show how creative the artists behind the show can be with special level budget. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind if the story wasn't very good if the setting was interesting enough. I'm pointing this out because apart from the cave in the Shanghai special, there hasnt really been a setting where I truly think that this could only exist when the show is able to step up its game.
That's fine, I feel both specials are okay, overall. I like the the idea of exploring other miraculous around the world but the characters could have been more fleshed out
Hey! Can you ever consider reviewing Zoe Lee (the character) as who she is right now? I'd love to see your opinion and insight! Personally I think she's pretty bad. Anyways, have a nice day Gale
@@pirateguy3521 I haven't really seen the episodes myself but I basically have a ground level understanding that I feel like Zoe is just 1-upping Chloe. The fact that they're related, the whole bee miraculous thing, Zoe is kinder, etc etc. She MIGHT be a well written character (I only have access to banana queen, not sole crusher), but it just seems like the spawn of Astruc's hate boner for Chloe
I have to watch the show because my little sister likes it, but OH MY GOD Zoe might actually make me just give up on even watching it with her. She feels like such a clear way to deflect the "Chloe grew up in an abusive home and that has impacted how she acts." argument because now they can point to Zoe and go "But she's nice!!!1" and she sounds like a bad OC/self insert. It feels so bad to see something with so much potential burn and crash like this, honestly (sorry for grammar mistakes, english is not my first language)
For me this show was great meybe up earlier seasons. The later stuff just drags on with whole love triangle. And it's hard to care. When the characters just don't really change or growth all that much.
They got worse actually. Chloe got worse, Marinette became an even more gross stalker creep and Adrien became even more uninteresting. Seriously, when is this show ever going to end? Just end it already.
This has convinced me to actually watch the… movie, and then try to just write a work that is essentially the same, but gives actual depth to the characters.
If you want to know my vague outline: I'm between two ideas for marinette honestly. Either cutting her part entirely from the story or adding her in near the very end. (We have a lot of content for Marinette already, and honestly her story of going to Shanghai mainly for Adrien and not her granduncle/uncle(?) made me uncomfortable.) I'm probably going to make it centered around Adrien and Fei, since their dynamic is much more interesting and has more friendship opportunities. Fei just needs to pick pocket Adrien. Also maybe stretch out the time from a single day to around 2-3 weeks (marinette coming in on the last 2 days maybe for her Uncle's b-day). And while Hawkmoth's part and akumas were- alright, I'm probably going to scrap it to play on some non-existent lore and world build Fei's powers and duties. Because the duty her adoptive father gave her, was to protect and guard that area. (Also give her some trauma and inner turmoil of her actions to work through.)
Alright....watched season 4...I mean some clips of it but no sir/mam.....no....thank god for youtube spoilers *Throws seasons 3 and 4 in the air* Thank you so much Miraculous...you made me and the half of the fandom dislike it as usual for bad writting As for the special..... Thomas: Are you going to watch it? Me:.....NOPE! Still hate Marinette, Adrien is just a ghost now, Hawk Moth still sucks...not too sure about Fei and the creators focus too much in making the special look nice... Someone: wait....If you didn't watch the special how can you.... Never mind that for now! As for the people that still review the show and give good constructive criticism...thank you for your service
@@quietopinion9637 it's fine if you like her but her actions when it comes to Adrien makes me mad....she's boring because instead of having other hobbies she keeps trying too hard to go after him, not a fan of her powers and her as a person in general, especially when she's LB. I know that she does want to become a fashion designer but her clothes are just.....ehhhhhh Everyone is a fan of her or chill with her.....okay.....a shy person stutters but somehow she's popular....alright...it's happens..it is normal for some popular students to be decent people.....and not be just a blonde or a jock She has a popular bakery, plays video games and makes dolls in her spare time All of those things could make her have a decent shot to pass the time and not rush after someone's pants. (Suuure...a girl whose parents own a bakery, is relative to a famous chef and has a aunt who goes around the world, is friends with a model (*friend* being a keyword for Adrien...If I was in his place after seeing those photos in Troublemaker...I would never want to hang out with her, ever again), had met an happy-go lucky singer that allowed this child and her classmates to be in a music video and has a partnership with a rock star just from making glasses that look like a knock-off for me has a normal life. Sure.....whatever you say Marinette). Though.....she isn't a professional when it comes to be LB. I like that she does want to save people and has a sense of justice but her emotions and jealously get the best of her. Her annoyance when it comes to Chole, Chole is not a good person... everyone knows that but Marinette should try to protect her instead of blowing her off and try keep her feelings out of the window, She can rant to Tikki about her later. Lila is......*sigh* an other story. A girl that lies about everything for attention..we still don't know her reasons because she's treated as a plot device. Why is lying an comfort for her? Is she insecure? Trying to practice her acting? Blames herself for her dad being gone? Did someone lie and got away with it despite Lila trying to tell the truth but no one believed her, before Lila moves to Paris? We don't really know and it's frustating, we're supposed to hate her just because she's Mari's emeny? That's not enough Anyway. Bla-bla, Lila is the new student, everyone believes her words just because she somehow knows Ladybug, Jagged and other famous people without asking questions to hear her responses and see her reactions......don't they have Goggle? Plus Lila probably moved a week ago so how can she have met them? Everyone besides Mari believe her and instead of just trying to focus on other things and let the situation run it's course like TRYING TO GIVE THE MIRACULOUS BOOK TO MASTER FUDGER...She transforms in LB because *GASP* Lila touched Adrien's hand and is after his attention. LB screamed at her like a jealous wife that it actually made her cry! And Adrien actually asked LB why she did that. I'm so glad that Lila didn't forgive her But... Marinette kept trying to get rid of her and because she didn't go mind her buisness, Lila is after her and trying to destroy her life The least I can say about what she does to Adrien and Kagami...the better. In season 4 she slowed down and does try to help other people with their problems, trusts Alya with her Ladybug duties and tries to take care of the kwamis..... But I still don't like her. It's alright if you support her, everyone has a favorite character, it's just...for me, Marinette isn't one of them.
im going to go on a small rant because this show makes my brain hurt sometimes. why has nobody outside of paris heard of akumas?? also how is a whole city in paris trusting two TEENAGERS to save the day all the time when they have their own lives too. also idk if its because i forgot but what was happening on the first episode but why did hawkmoth suddenly just akumatize someone? has he done it before and who saved the day before ladybug and cat noir? and its complete bs introducing a whole other family of other "kwamis" called remlings and everyone acts like its nothing new. i just think they should have explained it better in the show and have a episode or two about a whole family tree of kwamis and have a break from the same old plot. speaking of episode ideas it would be nice to see maybe alya and ladybug try to go on an adventure looking for kwamis or just nino giving adrien advice and them just hanging out.i really have a tough time liking marinette knowing she literally stalks someone but then again i cant stop watching the show hoping therell be something different for her after almost 4 seasons. i wish the characters in the show had more personality to offer. like other shows we could get to know the side characters and their backstory for other episodes. it just feels like they are empty canvases that need to be filled with more than just being the main characters friend. i want to be attached to these characters but the character development is thrown away like with chloe. i have a lot more i could say but i typed this twice since i accidently deleted the first one. overall im just disappointed and frustrated by the potential from this show. i hope we get some character development in s4
I feel like the miraculous are more powerful than the prodigious. I would get if Alya faced Lady Fei she can use her animal senses to see through the illusion but Hawkmoth can just duplicate it's powers and Ladybug can use her lucky charm to defeat her. I need more information on how it's meant to be more powerful than the miraculous
@@quietopinion9637 Truth and Lies don't mainly work because Adrigami and Lukanette weren't fully developped. We don't see them being fully fleshed out. What worked? How did their dates go usually? How did their personalities mash. The most we got was that montage that was less than 10 minutes. Gale was right about a flaw of the show ia that it usually doesn't flesh out it's plot points and crams them into a single episode. Now imagine if this episode was an arc done over multiple ones. We would see kagami and luka gradually get more frustrated and build it up to these 2 episodes. Not to mention that the fact that truth and lies are RIGHT after the season 3 finale makes it even more worthless than it was.
@@quietopinion9637 now I remember why gang of secret sucked 1. A)The concept of Marinette having a breakdown is interesting but short lived and only last for that episode. B) The fact that Marinette breaks up with luka plants seeds to her freaking out but adrien breaks up with kagami and is just like "ooo ladybug ur so hot aaahhhh" 2. Princess Fragrance spends 10 fuking seconds of talking instead of just spraying ladybug with her perfume but we couldn't have ladybug lose so they gave her plot armor. Not to mention that from previous occasions princess fragrance would instantly spray people but now she monologues instead. 3. Alya finds out Marinette is ladybug which becomes a huge contrivance in the whole concept of the show. Becus Alya can know now there's no reason for adrien not to know, the love square doesn't need to exist, marinette's internal conflict is just an annoyance. By breaking a rule they established was important they instantly break multiple concepts that made the show even remotely interesting. It's funny how mr pigeon 72 is much worse than all 3 combined....
imagine. if the 2 sisters finally started to get along and Zoë assures chloe that she wont see chloe as a monster like everyone else does after what she did at the end of s3. So now chloe doesn't wanna lose her and then they get in a situation where ladybug had to give one of em a miraculous and she obviously chooses Zoe not just that she give her bee one and because of the situation she has to give it in front of Chloe. And chloe now affraid of losing her sister and only person who doesnt see her as a monster supports zoe even tho she hates it that zoe is now using bee miraculous. the ep ends with zoe saving the day and chloe being happy for her still have her attitude ocfrse. she waves zoe off with a moderate smile and then goes to her room closes the door and just breaks down crying on the ground showing how much she actually regrets her decision of being bad in last season and how much it actually effects her despite her not showing anything at all and ep ends with that wallpaper kinda thing where chloes is crying on ground with her back to us. soon after optigami, zoe becomes the only person (apart from ladybug and chat noir) who’s identity is secret from hawkmoth so ladybug decides to leave miraculous with her permanently cuz giving and taking would be risky for identity and chloe too keeps it a secret and sometimes tries to help zoe with powers as she has experience with it. Shes still resentful and doesnt like ladybug at all but she likes her sister. later near or at the end of season zoe is in bad condition and ladybug and other heros are in dire need of help so chloe once again becomes queen bee, helps everyone, works as a team while showing shes doing it for zoe not for ladybug. at that time, lila too would have been developed more as a villian and maybe she would also be in the fight helping hawkmoth, maybe she was akumatised but i would like to imagine that she would have some miraculous, maybe peacock one or other, the miraculous doesnt have to be one from ladybugs box, maybe it was from some other box as we know there are many miraculous boxes and maybe hawkmoth would have gotten his hands on one or atleast one miraculos for lila. Chloe would face off lila as queen bee and defeat her after a lot of struggle. it would be fun to see 2 characters who were initially evil. this will show that lila and chloe cannot be compared as chloe isnt actually evil. this image of chloe if compared to her season 1 chloe, would be completely or hugely opposite showing that she has grown as a person and character. meanwhile, lila, also chnaged but opposite of chloe, she grew to be more and more evil and sickening. although lila would grow more evil, this will still mean that she HAS grown as a character. I would like to make Lila as villian for chloe rather than for ladybug and otehr heros, as lila and chloe were similar at 1st and now are opposite. ladybug and other heros have hawkmoth and mayora to take care of. and chloe can be a hero in this senario while lila, the villain. (end the fight however you wish :) ) After all of that (remeber zoe was there for a few months only) so zoe passes the miraculous onto chloe, she initially denies but then accepts and ofc ladybug asks for it back but chloe refuses saying that she has no interest in power or miraculouses anymore but this is the only sign that theres still one person who believes in her, and its too important for her to just hand it back even tho ladybug is the guardian. she more or less becomes and anti hero she doesnt show up to help ladybug but she doesnt use anything for bad either. She only uses it sometimes to help herself or sabrina/ her family or other helpless pple when they are danger but she avoids other heros. ik its never gonna happen cuz the writter just straight out called her a bad and mean person but i really liked how she was changing in s2 so im still gonna like her in this way. you can add if you want and lemme know do you think writter did chloe justice by refusing to finish her arc or not. sry fir spellings .
Fae was raised on those virtues growing up. Her adoptive father trained her to be the next wielder, but she didnt kno it at the time. Thats why using the renren just clicked.
Fei`s dragon form is literally Kagami's wind dragon. How original U-U She couldn't control ice or metal instead? That would be sooooo much cooler than air. Also, i NEVER saw this girl being empathic or patient. All she does is stoling innocents people things and be impatient. This character is not likable at all! I was angry when Chat got pushed aside.... again! Geez Tomas astruc, stop ruining this cute character. Give him more development, he needs it! Also, Adrien is more interresting and kind than Marinette for sure! He won't stalk a girl he likes or go in her room then smelled her pillows. When Mari did it, that was so creepy and disgusting XS
This is off topic but uhhh did anyone else see when Marinette transformed her mask was ALREADY ON BEFORE SHE PUT THE MASK ON it just triggered me 🥲(they might have fixed it idk but probably not)
the fight scene and villain encounter is WAYYY better than the new york special, I must say. But the fact that Marinnete went to China to STALK Adrian and him being oblivious to that fact is just creepy.
Kinda unrelated but why couldn't they name the other specials after cities too. I mean Shanghai was changed from just Chinese Legend which is better but SERIOUSLY YOU COULDN'T PICK ONE CITY IN JAPAN OR (and this one really pisses me off) THE WHOLE CONTINENT OF AFRICA Like I get that maybe it's to give them a chance to explore the whole of Japan and Africa. There's nothing wrong with wider representation if done right but honestly, I feel like Africa will be chalked up to The pyramids in Egypt and the Serengeti (more specifically poor rural villagers) and maybe Table Mountain. Japan getting a similar treatment with stereotypes that are already known and can often be used offensively. Why not just explore the whole of Egypt or more specifically Cario, all the history and diversity there or Nairobi to show the wealth and economic as well as the cultural diversity of the city. And if their plan was to do a wider exploration of these regions then why pick just Shanghai why not showcase the whole of china OR more importantly other parts of England and/or the UK other than London considering most people international don't even know Scotland, Ireland and Wales even exist with their own languages and dialects (people just know accents and kilts). Idk just a thought (thanks for listen to my TED talk)
Hey. It's Miraculous. It's normal for Miraculous stuff to have great issues in the writing. Still I think you missed many important points of the movie. We see Fei being raised to do good, then fall from grace and then return back to the good side - that's more than what we got to see from a majority of MLB characters. Also the part of Marinette seeking for her lost earrings and Fei helping her,, fei goes like 'oh that girl's so pure of heart and it was me who created her disaster in the first place' and I think that counts as a character development. For the renlings part, I agree it was a bit weird, Fei was a little too fast getting them under control (but... she was raised be the prodigious holder, she could've already mastered all the human values in the past and only forgot how to use them when her mentor was no longer around...) the animal transformations really are a bit lame (but who says it's their only and entire power?). I personally think it was a pretty good movie for a Miraculous.
Omg what annoys me is that the whole thing was about mari going to Shanghai for adrien, (ignoring all the other issues the whole thing has) he only got 5 minutes of screen time in the whole thing.
