I made these this morning. They literally are better than Reese's. I used monkfruit erythritol sweetener to lower the calories and a couple teaspoons of almond milk to make up for the lack of moisture from not using maple syrup. I also used oat flour instead of almond to make the pb into a complete protein. Instead of the cups, I formed the pb dough into Patties and then dipped them in the dark chocolate. I did end up needing more chocolate than the amount listed on the recipe. Next time I'll cut back a bit on the sweetener in the pb dough and add some salt for a nice contrast to the sweetness in the chocolate. Thank you so much for this recipe!!! Now I can have pb chocolate goodness with none of the tummy ache afterwards.
Kyra, I love that you made these and added your own twist. Great idea using oat flour and the monkfruit sweetener to cut down on the calories. I am going to have try that!
Ingredients: -200g dark chocolate (he uses 70%) -1 tbsp coconut oil -0.5 cup almond flour -1.5 cup protein powder (this is a lot and his preference. Lower to 3/4 cup per preference) -1 tsp. vanilla extract -1 cup peanut butter -0.25 cup maple syrup (optional, use if you want it sweeter)
Excellent recipe!!! I will be making these. Great ingredients. I’ve been meaning to make peanut butter with chocolate cups, haven’t as of yet. This is an awesome, easy recipe. Love the maple 🍁 syrup. I’m sure you have tons of that up north. I buy it for pancakes. Great video 👍👍👍
I never really picked up that I use it that much. I prefer the taste of maple syrup over honey in baking. Yes no shortage of maple syrup here in Canada.
I do keto, so to push these more into my world, I use a no-sugar-added peanut butter and a keto friendly sweetener. Such an easy recipe and so much less expensive than store-bought.
Right on man good to hear. I admit the recipe could use 300g of chocolate. Or I could spoon less into the base of the cups. Coconut flour is a great option too. I have heard of some people using peanut flour, but I haven’t heard of peanut flour before.
Sugar free Hershey's and Jif sugar free peanut butter. ZERO guilt! The Hershey bars are available on Amazon. I found the Jif at Walmart Neighborhood Grocery. No disrespect to the host, in fact, it's a great idea for a video. 💃🏼
Don't have almond flour, but I do have all-purpose flour! I look forward to making this. Just need to figure out how much all-purpose flour to use instead. I absolutely love reeses cups, and this would be such an awesome way to satisfy my cravings and be a great snack while on my lunch break at work.
Please do not use all purpose flour as it is technically raw. There is potential for E. Coli bacteria to be present since flour does not go through any treatment for bacteria.
Subbed! Just found your channel, and these are definitely gonna be made at some point! If I do edit a video on them I’ll definitely tag you in it for the inspiration!
Just tried these and I think you meant a 1/2 cup protein powder. 1.5 cups is a wild amount that left me with way too much filling. Gotta make some smoothies with it haha
Hey Chris, no I meant 1.5 cups. Like I said in the video I love a peanut butter cup with lots of filling. (totally my preference) If you want a normal reasonable amount of filling use 3/4 cup of protein powder. Enjoy!
What is the vanilla ingredient in the Video?, I dont see it in the recipe and i am not sure what to use. (I live in germany and dont know what the liquid vanilla is)
Hey Wosz, I did use a vanilla protein powder in the recipe. Now its not necessary, to us that flavour. My wife and I make this same recipe using chocolate protein powder or flavourless collagen protein. With that said, you can replace the protein powder with more almond flour.
I mean 10-15g protein is okay... but in exchange for 324 calories per cup? At that point I'm not sure the protein is relevant. A protein bar has half the calories and twice the protein, making it 4x as protein efficient. Looks tasty though.
@@igfresh2809 perfect, that's what I have! I've actually made something very similar to the filling as a protein snack... I can imagine how good it would be covered in chocolate!
Be careful eating too much dark chocolate as it can screw up your heart rhythm as I found out the hard way after starting keto and using dark chocolate as my cheat snacks. Just make sure you don’t eat too much too fast!
Love this! BUT I hate to be the one to tell you that peanut butter is an incomplete protein--it needs a grain added to complete the protein, which isn't difficult--chia seeds or really any seed added will do the trick, or try an oatmeal flour instead of the almond flour. Also, what kind of chocolate did you add?--regular unsweetened baking chocolate or something else like a Hersey bar? Just asking so I make it right. My guys are gonna love these!
Hey Jen, thanks for the tip. I agree peanut butter isn’t a great source of protein. That’s why there is the protein powder in it. You can use any chocolate you wish. I used a 70% Lindt chocolate bar for this.
Hey badlad, I used a 70% dark chocolate the brand is presidents choice. I have also used Lindt chocolate in the past. The great thing is there are no rules, you can use whatever chocolate you want.
I used PB2 and the texture of the peanut butter filling ended up being very sticky and wet. Has anyone tried using pb2 and if so, what ratio of liquid did you use?
This has 16 g of protein and 26 g of fat per cup. These are high in fat, not protein. You could make substitutions and make them high protein, but as is, the macros for this are terrible.
I have played around with it since this video and the only way to bring down the fat is by using the powder peanut butter. The macros are great if you are keto. lol
