This is the first time I've actually seen a Betty Boop's short and I've to say... that I'm amazed by the animation quality! And I really liked the story this short has, really nice!. But the imagination, work and innovation here it's incredible!. My total respects!.
I've seen this cartoon lots of times and have always wondered how Betty's and Grampy's neighbors liked having their building turning around and around.....lol.... a great surprise ending that Betty Boop cartoons were known for
I wonder how long it took them to make that set for about 11 seconds of film at the end. I would imagine at least several days. That's dedication to your art form!
@Ahturos That's an actual 3-D model set. They built these out of cardboard, clay or plaster of paris and put them on a turntable. Yeah, the Fleischers were well ahead of their time. Their Tabletop 3D setback even surpasses Disney's multiplane camera.
Think that's impressive? Check out some of their Color Classics, like Musical Memories, which used more 3-D backgrounds than any other Fleischer cartoon.
