I have been watching her all the time .... for the last 20 yrs. First Golden Girls Tapes, after You Tube. When my mother passed in August, it was her and the other 3 Golden girls that would raise up my spirit. For me she will never passed, she will be alive forever in my heart with Bea, Rue and Estele.
Actually never followed her much I of cource saw some episodes of Golden Girls she polayed an old lady well, but since her passing realized how beautuful she was and that she did a lot in her younger days as well. I loved the johhny carson skits but dont remember seeing this its a hoot!
You would really love watching Ponyo, Betty White and Lily Tomlin play old ladies in a Japanese Anime it’s a favorite movie to watch with my daughters.
That is exactly what I was thinking she stayed in character the whole time, Johnny there could not keep a straight face. But he was in good shape for 54. She was just brilliant, & so darling if one can say that in these politically correct times.
@angelfirelite me too. Such talented writers and performers. Nowadays its doing over routines that been done. And rebooting shows that should be left booted lol
Betty is an old pro at skits, gags, one liners, improv and timing. She knows how to makes it work for her. Not many if any can come close to her talent.
@@MetalGearTenno I'm of an age and she is from my Era. I like many, look at her talent as a producer, actor, comedian and compare her to what is left and she shines bright. A test of your character is what people say when you die, she passed that test with flying colors, highly loved. It's not hard to compliment someone like Betty who really had talent. So you are entitled to your opinion and I will let my compliments of her stand.
This skit is great😂. I can absolutely see why Johnny could barely contain himself in the begining. You would never see this today....two legends being real and fearless.
Johnny got into the physical fitness thing at some point and I think it may have even involved some weight-lifting. He was rather skinny when he first started doing the Tonight Show.
@@barbaracrisp6121 Sugar has been around a long time, the difference is that the majority of it used to come from sugar cane and was better for you than the stuff that comes from corn.
They just don't make them like these two any more. Nobody even compares to them today. So glad to have been able to see the true stars...of yesteryear. Bet this last New Year's Eve was a kick in Heaven!!
@@bingbong1222 no...the 70s stunk...the hippies started ruining everything in the late 60s, and the drugs and acid rock took it further down the porcelain drain... hasn't gotten any better in entertainment either...
Johnny was a smart businessman. He wanted the shows to be taped and for them to keep the tapes. They didn't want the expense so they told him he could have the tapes, which he wanted in the first place. He paid for the storage in a controlled temp room and has made a fortune on these shows.
They taped over the early shows because they didn’t think there would be any interest in the shows in the future, plus film was very expensive in the late ’60’s and early ‘70’s.
Almost 60 is not old. Times have changed. There's lots of gogeous people even over 60. Look at gorgeous Christie Brinkley, George Clooney, almost 60 Brad Pitt in 2 years, Cary Grant was good looking at 80, & the list goes on.
@@marcelleray9545 Yes but back then people did not age as well. Wilfred Brimely was in his early 50s during cocoon. Looks 75. Remember the cast of Barney Miller as another example.
It feels good to re-live those shows.... I remember them fondly and miss them dearly. When comedy was true and funny! I loved it when she looked at her nails and calmly stated, "I call them as I see them"...Hahahaha!
Remember how controversial comedy used to be -- on Prime-Time Television? They covered very serious topics like racism on so many shows - Archie Bunker (said so many things that would be very shocking today), The Jeffersons (When husband of the bi-racial couple used the "N" word to his wife), Star Trek - was a pioneer in equality, having officers who were of various ethnic backgrounds & accents and Lt. Uhura was so beautiful and intelligent- no pimp or hooker roles on that show), and even Bewitched had a "bi-racial" or bi-species couple, and Tabitha had a best friend and they wanted to be sisters but sopmeone told them they can't because they are different colors, so Tabitha ended up mixing their races, and in support of the girls, Elizabeth Montgomery even appeared in black face- but not to be demeaning but instead to show that we are all the same). And, in music, there were so many songs that were uniting like Joy to the World, I'd like to Teach the World to Sing, Ebony & Ivory, and so many more. People back then were really making an effort to get past the division, the hate, the racism... but apparently, some people won't evolve and had been holding in their hate and racism for decades and someone gave them permission to be a white supremacist, a neo-nazi, an asshole.
@@SWSimpson I was right there with ya until you spouted the mainstream media hate. Not everyone who is conservative is a racist. The media has done their divide and conquer job very well. The only real racism I see is on the mainstream channels, and hate is the only game they have. Getting damn sick of this.
Rest in peace my dear sweet Betty White. What a true icon, and American treasure, a multi generational career and beloved by all. What a gal, what a actress. You will be miss mybsweet sweet golden girl
Some people did not understand her appeal, but Hollywood got it. Do they know how hard it is to find people who would say bad things about her? Many actress act the diva, but Betty was a funny, soft, strong, smart and yes a lovable Diva. I'm sharing my thoughts with you cause I think you will get it. This lady stayed ready, relevant and likeable to many generations. The younger actors embraced her and I'm sure looked out for her. So when someone like like her dies it is a big deal. Betty White represented the cool, hip, on trend, fashionable, cooperative grandma, sister, mother, and friend many wished they had.
Johnny and Betty both are/were awesome. I loved johnny back when I was growing up in the 80's. Id stay up late without my parents knowing, just to watch the johnny carson show. Hilarious and risque skit!
It could be, if we go back to teaching, actual facts, history & logic, consequences & morals. People need to get involved & stand up for what is right.
Not one missing brain cell. Bless her. Her brain is as alert as the day she was born. She went to sleep on December 30th with a clear brain & quick wit & slipped off into the eternal goodnight to join her beloved Allen & parents.
Betty White was a comedic master! Her timing was always on point! I've watched her for over 40 years and she just kept getting better! R.I.P Betty White!
I was a senior in high school and Johnny & Betty were way ahead of their time. This is a gem. Johnny was 54 at the time here and had a six pack. ( Well close enough. Good for them, really. And well-written jokes. "The snake keeps smiling at me." Been there. )
Not just eat too much, the ingredients changed over time. Manufacturers even add sugar to natural products milk and yoghurt, we are not accustomed to the natural sour flavor anymore. Start to avoid any product that has High Fructose Corn syrup or any glucose.
Oh johnny, you could never keep a straight face.... always cracking up . These two are legendary. Tv shows like this don't exist anymore. They both looked fantastic for their age.
Awesome!!! It takes going back in time to see the greats....... Timing and material put Betty White and Johnny Carson in a league of their own. This brings back good memories.
What a joy~! This is the first time I've ever seen this clip~! {the 1st time is always the best if done correctly} Forever imprinted in our cultural make~up...America luvs Betty...everyone's grandma, hip, beautiful, intelligent.~ I for one, along with many others, will miss her worldly existence...while at the same time, through her illustrious trailblazing career....have her forever~ Rest in Peace Sweet Angel~
Carson is still one of the bests...and Betty White being involved showed what great taste he had! Imagine that she's 50-freaking-7 years old here, and she still looks better than many 35-year-olds!
43 years ago? We old. Err, Vintage . Used to watch The Tonight Show in the living room and often ended up sleeping on the couch . Such fond memories of Johnny. Some of his best work was when he had a tough Friday night crowd .
I remember working 2nd shift and coming home, eating dinner, smoking some weed and just chillin' to Johnny, Get Smart, and Perry Mason...that was some damn good times...damn good times!
I had never seen this previously, it is excellent. She always had good style and her passing is as the ' end of an era'. She had stood out from all people. RIP Betty, you were everyone's favourite.
Ah, yes, I loved seeing this vintage sketch again, just in time for the great Betty's centenary celebration on Monday! Love her (Johnny's OK, too)! 😁😉👍🍾🥂
I miss funny late night TV, Jonny will never be replaced. I used to watch this stuff with my brother and we would laugh our asses off. I had a smile on my face through the whole video. RIP Jonny RIP Betty thank you for the memories.
