I agreed with a lot of what you said. I also didn’t think the daughter was as annoying as some made her out to be. I found her to be the one who grounded Axel, giving him a sense of responsibility and adding depth to his character arc. He, along with the rest of the gang, is old, and the film placed them organically into the story, not only as a homage but also playing significant roles in the narrative. It broke no new ground, but it was safe enough not to destroy a beloved character.

Another "legacy" sequel that can't justify its own existence outside of nostalgia. I think more creative approach could have been a reverse on the original. A cop from Beverly Hills having to go to Detroit. Tell the fish out of water story that way. Maybe a new character interacting with Eddie Murphy the way Creed worked with Rocky...

In my opinion I enjoyed the 4th one cause it recaptured the magic of what 1&2 had unlike 3 which was godawful for me. and I also enjoyed what this one had going for it that nostalgic fuzzy feeling that you get while watching it and Murphy is iconic as Foley as always and hasn’t lost that charm as him so for me it’s a win win for me.

Interesting review Joe. Personally for at least 85% of the film I didn't like Axel's Daughter as a character because she came off as a spoiled entitled brat imo. luckily she didn't ruin the film. The other issue I had was some woke comments in the film that don't belong in a Beverly hills cop film but again luckily it's only a few comments and doesn't ruin the film. The only other disappointment I had was the lack of action on Axel's part. I like to see Axel Foley kick ass but I get why they slowed him down so much in this film. Axel driving through Detroit at the start and everyone knowing him like his famous I think was a big mistake too. I found that to go against the Undercover aspect of his job. Axel F is okay but not great.

Last year I introduced my wife to the Beverly Hills Cop series and she enjoyed them (even the third one holds up better to a lot of modern action movies). So we’re looking forward to watching this. I’m OK with it playing safe.

I liked the movie it stood on its roots like the last 3 films but it did ripped off some moments of them.

Just saw the movie. Like most modern movies it went too long. If they could have trimmed 15 minutes I would have liked it more (Axel/Daughter scenes). This movie was better than 3 but below 1 & 2. It was great to see familiar faces and some new ones and music from 1 & 2. According to Murphy they are writing a part 5... I could see them leaving Beverly Hills and going on a group vacation to Las Vegas (Axel/Billy/John/Serge).

I was not expecting these reviews to be so surprisingly good between this one and the gladiator wow I'm pretty sure that people are crying over axles anti-cop joke about how he was a cop for several years and a black man for much longer😅😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂 that is the one reason why I laughed

Thank God the Lethal Weapon franchise wasn’t f-cked with beyond recognition because to this day it’s my favorite 80’s action franchise ever. Sorry Die Hard but the fourth and fifth films ruined it for me.

Another girl boss character is eye rolling and not sure why every iconic male character has to get turned into a s@itty husband or father but not as heavy handed as Dial of Destiny or The Last Jedi. Still very decent when the daughter is out of the picture.

I didn't think the 3rd was that bad, just wasn't as good as the first two. I've seen worse films I can tell ya. BHC 4 was OK, just okay. The "Saunders" name scene did give me a giggle. It had heart in places and was great to see the gang back together but as you say.. it's rather safe.
