I really love the combination of information and data. There is so much lazy headline grabbing, but when you dig into the numbers and facts, it starts to make a lot more sense. Love this!

I’m American and got into F1 during the pandemic. I can tell you one reason that F1 popularity is waning in America…the cost. Your average American cannot afford to buy the merchandise nor attend a race.

This video auto-played for me and I thought it was from some professional reporter because it was so good. I wanted to comment something on budget cap finally getting real effect on bringing whole field closer together. And I saw under 1k subs. You got mine instantly. I'll watch the rest of the videos to hear some more of you.

Thank you so much and much appreciated. This RU-vid journey is brand new but I'm excited for what's to come.

ESPN needs to consistently re-air the races later in the day. Asking casual viewers or new fans to wake up at 4-8am (or worse) on a Sunday will always be an uphill battle.

American sports broadcasting is a monopolized racket. F1TV app is $10/mo and amazing. Which is also to say, other sports don't have to be sold as a $120+/mo cable package. That's my problem. I once priced out trying to watch all the F1 sessions on cable. And they didn't even air them. But what I could get was between $120-$180/mo. Lots of American sports fans pay a lot more trying to watch sports. And you wonder why viewership is tanking.

This is all so true!! Haven’t I had all these amazing creators (including you) after binge watching DTS, I wouldn’t have the content I needed to learn even more about the sport and understand it to another level! I really hope teams etc will go more into depth to work with content creators, hopefully I’ll get to be a part of it one day

sport engagement is important , fan reaching out also is imprtant, european fans do alot of engagement online, f1 twitter and tiktok has a lot of european creators and engagaements . the US is a hard market to break . in europe though I think the fact that sky sports re broadcast races , and also content creatorx pushed their content on social media connecting with the preenters, America , the time zones dont make it enjoyable with just one perosn winning , also they dont rebroadcast races as well. try rebroadcrasting and I guarntee even old races , fans will be so interested .

I've seen too many media outlets and pundits commenting things on Max Verstappen the same way it was back on Vettel days. As in, it wasn't Vettel, it wasn't (mostly) Red Bull Racing, it wasn't Renault, it was Adrian Newey. No merit to the driver whatsoever. Even if Webber was abysmal sometimes, but it sounded so bitter... and now, once again, Max is amazing, GP communicates really well, the team ia super tight, but it's such a walk in the park that again it's Adrian Newey desining a marvelous car, and its not the rise of Honda, or Red Bull operations or whatever. F1 has a lot of driver dominance periods and always has something beautiful to appreciate. TeamOps, the synergy between driver and machine, the new records, etc. For instance, Hamilton and 2020's Merc, or Schumi and 2002/04's Ferrari, or 1988's McLaren. So many stories to watch, appreciate and learn! But not only there is media bias, it seems to me that sometimes the FOM doesn't fully explore the potential of these times. Yes, of course every fan will love a title battle down to the wire, but it's almost like there's only growth and recognition and buzz and hashtags etc if two drivers go tied in points to Abu Dhabi; otherwise, stagnation. Sorry for the rant. This is a very good video and it translates very well the feelings I have for this sport I've been watching since I'm 6yo 😅 So many data, every topic pretty explained, all in order, so good! Cheers!

I’m a New Yorker, have been a fan of F1 for about 30 years, attend about 4 F1 races a year but I am the exception. F1 is missing the boat in engaging large numbers of American fans. Why? 1. F1’s pricing models for Miami and Vegas were so high that they turned off real race fans in the US-the ones who would actually watch every race and want to attend year after year. They were targeted solely for the richest of the rich in this country. Most of them do not care about racing at all, and only go to show off their latest bag or clothing or get a shot of themselves on social media. These are the people who will go to one race and never return. You saw that happened in Miami already. 2022, 2023 was filled by people who paid 1/3 to 1/4 the face value of seats because the tickets were all jumped at the last minute by the promoters, a ticket brokers, because none of the seats sold. F1‘s Vegas race is even worse. Nothing has been selling for that race and it gas really repelled most American fans of the sport because the pricing is 4-5 times that of some of the European races and Americans know it. It’s just not a way to build good will and loyalty in fans. 2. The lack of competition for P1. Americans are used to spec series like NASCAR and IndyCar where the cars are virtually identical and the fight for P1 is fierce and unpredictable. Obviously, this cannot be changed for F1 given that it is a constructors series but American racing culture, is diametrically opposite the model of Formula One. 3. The lack of competitive American drivers. Yes, now we have Logan Sergeant but he’s probably the worst driver on the grid and probably doesn’t deserve a seat. 4. The fierce resistance to Andretti by F1 teams. Andretti is one of the strongest names and organizations in America and is well known to all American race fans. The fact that all of these European F1 teams and F1 figures (which is how F1 is perceived in America) are trying to keep Andretti out, is enraging American race fans and it’s causing a lot of ill will. They’ve made this organization jump through every hoop imaginable which they have and still they are trying to keep him out of the club. Not good for a sport that has aspirations of growing in America. There is a perception among American race fans that F1 once our money, but doesn’t want us.

There was indeed a perfect storm. Drive to survive got a lot of extra viewers during COVID, you have that part right. But right after that first spark, during the first lockdown, came the 2021 season. Controversies aside, that was objectively 1 of the most thrilling title fights ever in F1’s. So for many people, right after they got their introduction through DTS, started watching their first full season in 2021. That got people hooked. But seasons like those are very rare, so it’s no surprise people lose interest. People lose interest all the time, even when things don’t get less dramatic. Just look at the war in Ukraine. Society literally stood still for about a week, and then people carried on. I don’t think there’s much that F1 could’ve done differently. At least nothing that would make a significant dent in this decline. This has just run its natural course. I’m sure content creators have a positive effect on the sport, but they also keep calling it boring and predictive. This goed both ways. Anyway, I think you’re overestimating the effect of content creators on the popularity.

This is great. From a different perspective, for me, its the change in style of racing. I fell in love with the sport in 2017 when we introduced some of the fastest cars ever. We had these same style of cars from 2017-2021. Now in 2022 and 2023, we have these (IMO) ugly, boring, and frankly slow, ground-effect era cars. We saw this in Texas, where we had good pace battles, small fights, and yet the aero-efficiency and lack-of-deg on the Newey-Wizardry RB19, meant Max won anyways, even though he was in the arguably 3rd fastest car. This is why we added sprints, and why the McLaren WON a "Sprint" in Qatar. It's less about the domination (as I thoroughly enjoyed Hamilton era, and I'm not a fan of Max or Lewis) and more about the boring "style" of racing these cars produce nowadays, which has led to gimmicks such as sprints, (formerly) DRS, and others. We need smaller cars, flat floors, less aero-dependency, and 1000+ HP. Give me that and I'll fall in love again with Formula One.

So your saying a bunch of people that came into the sport during Lewis Hamilton’s championships aren’t happy that he isn’t winning now?
