A 10 minute Documentary on the world of Graffiti, featuring an interview with Billy, the owner of the most notorious Graffiti store in London and Stak, an up and coming artist looking to make it big in the Graffiti game.
Sponsored by Enigma Clothing - www.enigma-clothing.com
When beginning this project we wanted to delve into the world of Graffiti and try and learn more about the subject, why people do it, what they get out of it, and how it has progressed through the years. We belive this short insight into these artist's world gives some indication of why they do it and why they're driven to continue painting each week.
We very much enjoyed the filming process on this particular project as we got to explore London's most famous Graffiti spots, and had the chance to meet Billy and film a very insightful 40 minute long interview with him.

What a totally cool dude Billy is and his positive open minded attitude to graff in general as he's got to I dare say know many of his customers and see their work. He's spot on with what he said about graff and those who do it so often being misunderstood. As he pointed out too 'if you ain't in it then you don't know about it'. I mean your average joe public member wouldn't be aware of how much London Underground tubes are still regularly getting bombed and hit but the majority don't get put into service and it's a pretty rare sight but it still happens a fair bit but its usually captured more on Instagram and other social media platforms and stays on there long after the cleaners have blasted it away with their pressure washers. You only have to keep a close watch on all the metal undersides just above the wheels on many District and Central line tubes I've noticed. The regular tell tale signs are always there on virtually every other tube that passes through on my daily commute to work as I pass through West Ham... Remnants of multi colour, bright silver chrome or a few tags including 'DDS' (been going for over 30 years now) still or little tributes to Robbo WRH I've spotted in recent times paying homage and respect to one of Londons deceased train bombin 80's legends and pioneers Still helluva lot of trains and tubes being done believe even if it probably isn't noticed so much by the public though the good news recently for any potential train writers is that LU are having financial issues which could affect their ability to keep on top of train maintenance which could including the cleaning up of graffiti. Regardless I really don't think they'll ever completely stop it no matter how much security, surveillance technologies/cctv,high steel fencing etc and other obstacles put in their way writers always adapt, paint quicker, paint in shorter time scale periods if need be or whatever even if it dramatically affects the quality of whats painted on a train or how detailed it is. Writers always seem to be one step ahead and the increased and tighter security measures only adds to the buzz and determination to hit those trains still and getting away with it. Any hardcore train writer will usually tell you that 'legal' walls (as good as they are with some beautiful productions and art work) will always be missing a huge special something that only train writers/vandals will ever know. There's a certain thrill and adrenelin rush combined with danger and risk that you could never capture with 'legal' wall spaces.

Graffiti is vandalism, first and foremost. Yes, it's artful vandalism but bottom line is its vandalism and thats what makes it amazing. Its an art form reserved only for the bold and/ or the crazy.

I'm trying to make a comic in graffiti style, and I'm not quite sure where to start. I really wanna do the style justice, but I'm having trouble applying that to character design, and I'm not quite sure what materials to use. Are there any experts here who may be able to help?
