6 yrs on my Ko2 and passing 60,000 on my old friends. Today I’m swapping out tires. It’s time, too much desert / volcanic rock running these days. Just hours away from my new K02 and one week away from my first road trip of the year. Love these tires !

I've got a 99 4x4 Durango on 31 BFG ko2s, have loved em since day 1. Taken em out on cleghorn trail in CA, use them in Deep snow in wrightwood. Took my pops out for a drive. 1 day later he purchased ko2 for his Colorado. Great tires.

I live in northern Ontario, Canada. Use to drive a 3/4 ton work truck with KO2s going through snow storms and freezing rain. even towing trailers that were quite heavy at times, wear was minimal, Completely blown away by these tires.

Used BFG for 30 years, firstly KO then KO2 and found them excellent tyres, but found KO2 did not wear as well on gravel roads (drove up and down Tanami Track in Australia). Now using Toyo Open Country RT 305 70 16 on my Landcruiser 105 turbo diesel and very impressed so far. Will be putting them on my 200 series Landcruiser as well.

I concur. I got 100K miles out of my KO's on my Nissan Armada. The KO2 seems to be wearing much faster. I like the look of the K02 better but I think I will be lucky to get 60K out of them. It will be from wear, not damage. These things have awesome armor. I ran over a 3/8 lag bolt when I first got my K02's. I unscrewed it right away, no air leak.

I use KO2's all year round on my Jeep JK and I love them. They are severe snow service rated and I had no trouble last winter pushing my way through 20 inches of snow for 1/2 mile on a back country unplowed road.

39,900kms/27940miles on mine they have done well. 6000 kms offroad and the rest city and highway. This is the first tire that hasn't crapped out on me. They have lasted longer than the stock suspension on my Tacoma. Will buy again without question.

I can only say it's the best tires I ever had Original HT's lasted 80 000 km.Repaced with Dyna Pro, although not bad at all, but for road noise, and 60 000 km life span.BF KO2, now 142 000 km and the unsighntific match stick measure, 3 matches on top of each other says a lot about durability.No flats ever, no chips no cracks. About 80% on, 20% off road. Being in Thailand with extreme hi tempretures, heavy rains, waste deep flooding of roads and river crossings,its amazing. Negatives, as they get older, there is some harmonics at play.This only occurs at certain speeds, tempretures and road serfaces. Remedy, swap the left over to the right, so it will run in the opposite direction.It helps, but will return eventually Rotate every 15000 km.Another big factor is pressure.Depending on load, i normaly run them @ 30 psi, 26 off road, loaded 34.My 2012 Ranger Wiltrak 3.2, 262 000 km. What more can a man ask for?

Have KO on my 4x4 F-250 for 5 years now, mostly for winter driving. I rarely had to put it in 4wd. They did good for snow traction. Put about 30k miles on them. But now they are starting to dry rot. Just got the KO2 and can’t wait to put them on since they are more suited for snow.

I've had both. Love them! Ko2 retain more rocks. The sidewalk tread is great but directional, so they go a different direction from one side to the other. No big deal, tho. You can only see one side at a time! Both are great tires!

What I don’t like about the KO2 is it doesn’t have the “Rim Guard” bead area like the originals did. That extra rubber at the bead surface of the rim was great for keeping your wheels from getting Rock/curb rash, and it made the tires easier to mount.

Ran a variety of Goodyear Wranglers on my '03 F150 4X for years. Just rolled to 193K on the truck. Averaged 35-40K miles per set and about 3-4 years worth of wear. Not a ton of off-roading, but I do pull a 21' TT into the mountains about 8-10 times a year. Put on a set of KO2s 3.5 years ago at 155K miles. They have barely worn at all. I'd be looking to replace the Wranglers already. Rotations at Costco every 5-7K and I can't tell you which tires started on the rear. Even wear, if you can call it wear. They still look brand new. BFG knocked it out of the park with these bad boys.

I'm run the Ko for years. I'm now on KO2 and they really beet to old ones. No flat tire or anything like that. I'm use my truck for construction work and carry a farmer tank on my truck every day. I will not leve the KO2 for any another brand that's 100% sure. I drive in hot weather cool'd weather snow who is cool'd or slush wet snow! No problem just run bit lower air pressure in the winter because rubber become stiffer to fact of lover temperature outside. Happy owner to KO2. Bjorn from Sweden 🇸🇪

i have been running BFG all terrains since 1981 and tell everyone that they are the best, i am disabled now so i have a new set of k2s on the back { well new lastyear}, and am due for 2 on the front, just can`t afford yet being a single dad on disability. I was a Logger in British Columbia Canada and drove on gravel and snow, crazy conditions and find the BFGs the best winter tire. I drive a 2005 f350 and love my BFGs

I had my truck and my k02s for over 2 years. I have never had a nail stuck in any tire and they are TOUGH. Best tires I ever bought. Although they're not so good in the rain, not that I care, I'll just keep buying these. They're good for about everything and last a long time. For me, they're about toast because I do alot of slides and burnouts. BFGoodrich makes a major quality tire. For classic cars, most go with the radial T/A which is a great tire, but a set of tires which I had on a 79 camaro actually have better hook up and better traction in the rain for a smaller price were the Cooper Cobras radial gt. I would never get cooper discoverers since they have innerliner cracks. But the Cooper Discoverer STT Pro is an epic quality mud tire for sure.

I put these tires on my 1990 VW T3 Vanagon Syncro more then 4 years ago and just realized that I drove them over 100.000 km/ 62.137miles That´s 25.000km/15500 miles per year, but 90% Onroad use to be honest... :-) The back tire is indeed more worn out, due to driving in "two wheel drive mode" for most of the time. The tires still have a tread depth of 7,5mm at the front and 5mm at the back. I had one small puncture caused by a screw, but fixed it 1,5 years ago and it still holds air perfectly. The only "issue" I have is when it comes to rainy wet concrete roads. Because of the brake setup of my Vanagon (Disk brake at the front, drum brake at the back, no ABS or whatever plus rear wheel drive) you really have to be aware of hard breaking can cause in immediately blocking front axle and resulting in a terrifying slide, which I experienced a couple of times. Also going round a crossing with a bit of too much pushing the gas pedal lets your transform your Syncro to a sideways drifting Ken Block showcar. But I guess this is a sacrifice you have to live with, when you drive AT´s on a road car... :D The only other tire I ever rode on my Syncro was a Bridgestone Dueler 694 which I drove for nearly the same amount of distance. The issue I had with these were uneven worn out tread blocks and one of the blocks got lost somewhere on the road. Soon I´ll buy new tires, but that's a hard decision for me to make, cause honestly I want to keep my BFGoodrich tires...

I recently put these on my Defender HCPU 130. I got 75000 klm out of the factory Continental's. The KO2'S are quieter, grab and collect less gravel and slightly better cornering grip (the 130 will push the front end straight on a wet corner) so far so good in Queensland Australia.

i am running a set of BFG KO2"s 245/65/17's on my 2010 ford escape and they work beautifully, ive had them on since june and i love them. i have 2 ATV's and the area we go to unload them kept poking holes in my grand touring tires, so i switched to the BFG's and haven't had a problem since. i was a bit worried because i haven't got my winter tires on yet and we had a big snow storm last week with 25cm, and the bfg's worked better than i ever thought. i may not even need my winters.

Yes, the “rim guard” feature with that big square edge of extra thick rubber at the bead was awesome. Made mounting the tires a breeze, helped retain the bead’s seat when aired down and of course protected the rim from damage.

This is an awesome tire for those that drive their offroader daily. I have these in 37x12.5R17 on my Jeep and they take a beating very nicely. They seem to do me well in the rocks and durability is high. Mud isn't their strong point but they can do quite a bit of it. I know people that have a lot of miles on these tires. One guy had them on a JKU and he offroads it too got 56K miles on them before had to move on.

That’s because these results aren’t typical. I’ve run both for years. Not in the Middle East, i live in mid-Michigan. I will never buy KO2’s again. They were quieter when new but not much different after 10-15,000 miles. My KO1’s had roughly 75,000 miles on them my KO2’s need replacing after 40,000 miles. The traction at 50% tread was awful, almost unusable without adding 700lbs of weight to the back of my truck. Lastly, the KO2 tread wear was uneven compared to the KO’s.

Run these on a Cx3 that’d I’ve turned into a bit of a rally car. Can say these tires rock do lots of gravel driving and they wear great. Crazy thing is then in the mountains when doing spirited driving they handle unbelievable for an all terrain. Wet weather driving is good however not great when really pushing them in turns they tend to throw the car into a state of understeer. Over time got use to the wet weather performance as it breaks traction very progressively. Making it easy to control and lots of fun sliding the car around. For anyone who is running these on larger 3/4 to 1 ton trucks you can expect to see lower tread wear and overall less durability, especially if caring heavy loads. As these tires weren’t designed to run heavy weight, not to say it can’t. However, it’s main focus and most of the tires technology was derived from baja racing. Meaning light, stripped down trucks running through sand. My two cents is these will run best on a mid sized truck or SUV up to a half ton truck. The reason for my overall positive results is due to the fact that the vehicle I’m running them on is very light in comparison to most truck and an awd system vs a ordinary 4x4 system for increased traction on wet pavement helps as well.

Hi - I have been running BFG A/Ts + KMs for over 30 years now and recently purchased a full set of KO2s for my 4WD to replace my KOs. I run KM2s for off road, so swap them over when I am going on a trip. This is a really interesting review. I have not come across the chipping issue before... well, not as bad as you show here. I have only run the KO2s for a few weeks now. Mixed feelings at this stage. I must say that I am not as confident in the wet with the new KO2s. I have had a few 'kick-outs' on corners. I thought they may have been a bit better. Early days I guess. What pressures are you running on the highway?

very nice review. I have KOs on one of my rigs and KO2s on another. They are so different (a big ole diesel dually dodge on 235 85 16 KOs and a lifted fzj80 Landcruiser w 285 75 80 KO2s so certainly not apples to apples. Both have been great and both have spent some tough off road time. The KO2s are also marketed as excellent snow tires (but not true winter tires) This would be hard to test in Dubai I imagine. The KOs were notoriously bad on snow and ice. My KO2s have done well in snow and ice....much more sipeing than the KOs and somewhat softer compounds i suppose. Y'all should drive up to the arctic circle for next comparison.

I used to work there and it's where I got my k02s. Dude, they're all terrains, but they're much more of an off road tire than a regular tire. They're thick and heavy. Balancing them is pretty pointless. An alignment, good suspension parts and whatever air pressure your comfy with on the roads will make your experience better for this tire. The only thing that's concerning about this tire to me is rain driving. They're slippery a little. But it's something most people get used to. It's definitely a super tough tire and capable of ALOT. I'll get another set soon. Mine are goin down due to alot of slides and burnouts, treating my truck like it's a Trans Am. At first I was driving the first couple years on 40 psi. But I prefer a 37 or 38 psi these days.

I put BFG KOs on my 80 Series back in '97. After only 21 years they started to dry out and crack. It sure was hard replacing 5 tires that still had excellent tread and never gave any trouble. Of course I put KO2s on it. Should be good for a while... Amazing feeling driving on round tires again! Great tires.

I'm having balancing issues with my KO2s at 15K miles. Road force is high and there is a bit of vibration now even after balancing. That said the are good tires off road. Not very good in the wet weather.

I drove up a logging road 10 miles in wet conditions for 4 weeks everyday in a front wheel drive van and it chewed the tread up real bad spinning out on wet sharp gravel . it stands to reason if you spin out on sharp rocks they wont last..... any tire!

They should have left not stopped making the KO1 I’m not happy about the KO2’s plus now when I need new tires I’m going to have to replace all 5 or at least 4, I love the kO1 they have served me well for the type of driving, the only thing I notice with them is slipping in wet streets when breaking. I hate the traction control on my Jeep and have notice that it goes off less with these tires.

I absolutely love the BFG AT!!! But will not buy another set because of the price & my experience with them!! When these tires are new they perform just as good as a MT BFG tires does but as soon as my AT got down to half tread at roughly 22,000 miles they did not perform anywhere close to as they did when they where new!! I would literally get stuck in stuff that was half as bad as the serious conditions of terrain I would go threw when they were new!! I guess I I do realize that yes as they wear down they are not going to perform as they would when they were new!! But there was no difference in the capability from new to half tread & then at half tread it was just like shutting of a light switch!! So what do you do with the last half of your tread?? Well with less then 75% of the capability as when they were new I just sold them to someone else!! As that person came back to me saying these tires are worthless they don’t perform like he thought they should!! As for me I had told him that they would be good only for getting by for hyway driving & not of road driving!! He was not to happy but he did say he didn’t have the money for new ones & was wanting a tire to just get by until he could afford new ones!!! It’s kinda like the cooper MT there old MT tread style tires were phenomenal on any style terrain & I could get over 50,000 miles out of them so I ended up buying there new tread style MT & I didn’t even reach 10,000 miles out of them & cost just a little over a 1000.00$ didn’t even get a year out of them!!! Oh boy was I pissed!!! I have recently purchased some thunders MT tires & have them on a 2007 classic body style Duramax & have had two sets of these tires get two years out of them & over 50,000 miles out of them!! I also push a ton of snow during the winter & have never once got stuck with them!! This winter I had just under a quarter of tread on them & was going to purchase a new set for this snow removal season but I didn’t because I really wanted to see if they would do as good as they did when they were new!! Yes they did just as good as when they were new!!! I’m in need of a new set of tires coming up hear soon & really would like BFG to send me a set of there AT or MT to help with all the tire loss that I went threw with buying there tires & being no good after half tread!! I bet I have bought over 6 set of tires for my company of vehicles that for just one set that they would recommend so I can try out again!!! I absolutely love BFG tires & definitely would like to go back but if they won’t last more then half tread I just can’t do it!! BFG if you see this let me no what I can do for you guys??? I absolutely love your tires!! I even sell tires at my shop & hate pushing people away from your tires but I definitely don’t want my customers pissed of at me because I pushed them towards a tire that wouldn’t last over half tread!! Thanks!!

At 7:13, that deep water crossing, I seen what looked like a newer Ford F150, but they don't make snorkel kits for those. How did that thing handle that water crossing? I'd like a snorkel on my 2014, but I can't find anything anywhere about putting one on unless I jerry rig a f250 one, or use an old jeep one and cut it up.
@ExpeditionExtreme
@ExpeditionExtreme 6 лет назад
I have seen some for the raptor, so I'm pretty sure you will find some, I will hunt one down for you. As for the footage in the show. The F150 has a 2" lift and therefore the air intake is rather high, so this little water crossing posed no issues.
@F-1fittie
@F-1fittie 6 лет назад
Expedition Extreme Ah. I have a 2" lift on mine, and seeing how deep the water looked on your LC, it made me wonder about the Ford's. I have KO2's and they have been fantastic thus far, but haven't had a chance to play off the beaten path compared to my old Dick Cepek's. I used your video as a proof of usage to a friend of mine who was looking at Falken's and BfGoodrich's.

@mikekay213 6 лет назад
Expedition Extreme will do, the wet performance is especially from stand still, you take off to join a highway and the car loses control due to lack of grip, should not happen! Checked on the forums, it’s a common issue due to the tire compound being hard.

My KO2s have been bad on wet pavement since I first put them on. If it's raining I'll put the F150 in 4A to get good traction from red lights. On extreme off road in MT, ID, and WY, the tires worked amazingly.

I work in the bush as a logger. If you run these bfg at on a 2500 or 3500 pickup with anykind of weight in the box on graded gravel road they stone drill and get flats easy. Didnt matter if it was the new style or the old type of km2 they both got flats from dtine drilling. The very worst tires we've tried are the goodyear duratracs.... nick named duracrap around here. Brand new dura craps didnt even make it to work. 3 flats in 75km of gravel road. Best luck we've had has been with micky thomson mtz and toyo at and mt.

Expedition Extreme, very comprehensive feedback. However, can you please let us know how these tires performed specifically on the dunes? Majority of offroad trips in the region is a trip to the desert and playing in them dunes. Side slopping, ridge driving, dune crossings, you know...the usual stuff. How good are these for a person who alternates between pavement and dunes? In short, will you recommend these tires to someone who goes wadi driving very very rarely, but does a lot of weekend offroading in the desert. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Personally I love the all terrain tyre. I have had them on all my 4x4's. When I did a lot of dune bashing I ran the KO's on the wrangler and more recently on the JK I used during the wahiba sands crossing ran KO2's. Personally I prefer the stronger side wall, it doesn't roll off the bead like other tyres. I must say I'm loving the KM3's in the dunes at the moment

The BFG KO SUCKS!!! We bought a set for our farm truck that exclusively drives in pastures and dirt roads. We ended up having all tires warranty replaced FOUR TIMES!!! That's 16 tires replaced under warranty for Tread separation. NONE lasted over 4000 miles. The last set we got with an expired warranty also had tread separation and a blowout on the highway.
@ExpeditionExtreme
@ExpeditionExtreme 6 лет назад
Preston P wow, glad they replaced it as many times. Yeah as you can see from the review, KO had issues compared to the KO2, it’s a pity you had such a bad experience, would be good to see the new version in the same conditions vs what you had.
@preston1614
@preston1614 6 лет назад
We switched to Michelin LTX AT2's on both of our trucks and they are better in every way. No tread separation, better mud, sand, snow and ice performance and the same abuse for the last 8-10 years. They are getting so old they all have stretch marks, tread has held up really well and we probably have 40-50k miles on our oldest set. They are way better, my dad argues that the KO's were only better in the mud but I don't think so.
