It’s strawberry season here in Florida and we have the strawberry festival for 2 weeks, big event but they also sell local strawberry onions which are giant sweeter onions so this recipe is perfect for those onions that I’ll slice thinly and sauté with okra, thanks!

I am always so scared to cook okra because it can be so slimy.. but I am going to try this and cook it thoroughly. What is the second seed you mentioned adding? Thank you for sharing your delicious food. I love cooking Indian cuisine at home!

Hello dear, after cumin seeds, it is 'ajwain' or carom seeds to be added.
@FoodwithChetna
@FoodwithChetna 2 года назад
and if you dont have carom seeds just skip them

As I'm watching this Chetna I'm thinking - what dishes don't have onions? I love them, but they don't love me! I love okra though! Even if it is gooey!

I have been keeping the tails. Is there a reason they need to be chopped off? I absolutely love bhindi!! Prior to my learning to cook Indian food, I had only had okra in gumbo and I liked it. I had always been afraid of okra, because everyone said it’s slimy. Not if you cook it right!! It is delightful!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊

nothing wrong in that i think

this sent me on a deep dive into shallots; weird (to me anyway), until 2010, shallots were classified as a separate species from onions, but now they are considered to be a species of onion (a cultivar). More well known, most of the world emphasizes the second syllable (sha-LOTT) while us Yanks tend to emphasize the first (SHA-let). I think this indeed would be great with a simple dal, rice, and pickle, and I see some potential efficiencies for making this one in less time.

Nice but You overcooked the Okra unfortunately. I also cook & Okra tastes better when a little crispy and not mushy. stay connected. Too much Garam masala should not be used for all vegetables especially Okra.
@FoodwithChetna
@FoodwithChetna 2 года назад
that comes down to personal preference! not a big fan of crunchy okra, it needs to be cooked through
@cherylmartin6338
@cherylmartin6338 Год назад
I also think that the tomatoes were over fried (30+ minutes). A great deal of natural flavour and nutritional content is lost through foods being overcooked.
