Israeli forces bombarded areas of Rafah on Thursday (May 9), as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed United States President Joe Biden's threat to withhold weapons from Israel if it assaults the southern Gaza city. Negotiations for a ceasefire have been ongoing. Mr Brian Katulis, senior fellow of US Foreign Policy at the National University of Singapore's
Middle East Institute, tells CNA's Asia First that Israel cannot go at it alone and that there has been "some pretty bad political theatre" both in the US and Israel.

I just wish this guy didn't use a gimmick phrase like political theater to gloss over this diplomatic move from the United States. It's more significant than just political theater at least how I use the word. It is a veiled diplomatic message to the Israeli government into opposition parties in Israel also.
