I’ve watched enough episodes of May Day on tv to understand why this guy is not qualified! Oh this is truly scary. This guy would have been more reputable if he would have admitted he was not qualified and turned down the nomination. Just like I declined when asked to run for Senator. I was very confident as a city council member, but I just didn’t feel I had enough experience to run for that high of office. One has to take a hard long look before one leaps.

I can understand that to a certain degree. My brother, a senior RAF jet pilot, joined a major defence contractor as a Project Manager. In the early days, in meetings, if asked 'Is this project on budget?' His response was 'I'll pass that over to James, my finance and budget manager on this project.' and James would answer. If it was 'Is the parts supply fitting the engineering timetable? ' His response was 'My Head of Engineering on this project, Norman, can take that question.' And Norman would give them the full answer. My point is that all new managers have a good deal of On The Job training, but it's the Management skills they want. After a short while, he knew the answers. That said, his aviation knowledge was perfect. He is now a Director of the company.

Funny enough there are some problems in the LBA, pertaining to leadership issues, so maybe it would have been better to have someone who maybe ran an airport for a few years would be a better choice. Then again we don't generally do this kind of dog and pony show that you murricans seem so fond of. Public office at that level should not be a popularity contest. So it's sort of weird to watch this kind of thing in murrica. The hard requirements for the job in Germany are to be a career civil servant of a particular paygrade, though that has very little to do with what you as a murrican would expect from those words. If you asked him these questions he would, extremely politely, tell you to pound sand after the second one. God, now I'm imagining German career bureaucrats sitting in that chair. You'd get the ultimate look of parental disappointment. He's not mad at you, but he is convinced you can do better and somewhat disappointed you bothered him with it. XD

Many years ago my dad told me about the city manager of the town we lived in. He said this guy would ride around town checking on the progress the employees on the job sites. If a crew was short handed, the manager would get out of his car, roll up his sleeves and help. He was so knowledgeable, he could help out in any department and often did. I know city managers don’t do that anymore. BUT, with any type of leader, they should be well aware of how things are to get done. And the right way at that. Just throwing in my 2 cents.

Each question he was asked was the simplest question of just a handful of required qualifications-and there's like sixty areas of expertise qualifications required. This is the one of the few departments in the U.S. government where the director has to know each of these answers for these simple questions asked. This is not a MANAGEMENT position but a knowledge position as required by statute and public safety. This guy has done nothing in his life to qualify for this job beyond being black and a lefty. All past directors were in this job field their entire working lives as the congressional requirements for this position set forth. This guy ran the food courts, the landscaping, the parking lots, the janitorial sections of the Denver airport.

That's a question you'd maybe find in a private pilot license exam. I'm shocked he didn't do an impromptu pop quiz on ICAO guidelines for balloons and other lighter than air aircraft.
