We all expected so issues with the new tacoma as it's such a huge leap for toyota. New design, new motor, way more tech. Problems are expected. But toyota is is a crap Storm of misery right now. Basically all thier trucks are new and all are gonna have some big problems for a couple years. Toyota but off more than it can chew. And they are not gonna take care of their customers the right way is what I'm expecting. I hope I'm wrong on that.

I’m the guy with the Tacoma in there. I get all you’re saying and I agree. The thing that really upset me was not setting me up in a loaner immediately. It shouldn’t take weeks. Take care of the people that put trust in your company with atleast a loaner immediately. That was my biggest gripe with this whole situation.
@SamkoWorkShop
@SamkoWorkShop 7 дней назад
Agree 10000%! Bad enough you have to deal with this on a new truck. The least the dealer and toyota could do is provide a loaner and maybe try a little harder to get a new trans in to fix it. Sorry you have to go thru this. I hope they get it all sorted for you and done right and done fast.

Economy with Toyota didn't mean it was dirt cheap at the dealer. It meant that you could keep it for a long time with the lowest TCO on the market. That was even true of the upscale Lexus. You do pay up front, but then you can just drive it forever, with fluid changes, tires and brakes. Without this value proposition, I'm not clear on what Toyota really offers. You can buy something fun, cool, high-status, if the car is going to be crap anyway. This is killing Jeep and Dodge, too. I have a 25 year old Jeep that has been great. The new ones? Oh man... I have known people with 300,000+ mile Dodge Ram trucks, too. One guy replaced it with a new one and really regretted it. You can't build crap in the Internet age, and get away with it. Every problem gets broadcast to millions of people, within days.

And people think the Tundra engine Fiasco is going to go smoothly. The headache, the time, the shortage, the crappy quality repair to get your truck out and go to the next, the frustration, the anxiety not knowing if the new fixed engine will ever fail again. No, I am glad I traded my 2023 Tundra for a 4Runner before they announced the engine recall. I will think about it again after they fix it all. When will that be? Maybe the 350 new workers that were recently hired for the Alabama twin turbo V6 factory are going to build thousands of new long blocks that will be installed in the affected 2022 on up vehicles at no charge to the customer. I was surprised when I saw it pop up in my notifications. They dumped that super early. Odds are, they are speculating that resale values on the new Tacoma are going to be terrible like they are with the 3rd gen Tundra. But it's also possible that there were problems with the truck and they were afraid of having to report them in videos. They severely cooked that transmission during their mild hill climb. They are terrified of putting out videos that put Toyota in a bad light because they know Toyota will blacklist them like they have other auto journalists that have put out videos that were critical of their vehicles.
@muddywater6856

About all of the new vehicles have lost reliability. Insane regulations to meet and complexity. Complexity and manufacturing streamlining have made car repairs specialized and expensive. Toyota has historically lagged behind a few years, depending on what they knew would work. Now they have reinvented everything, and raised prices way beyond their value. That's fueling anger toward them.

Where have you folks been for the last decade? It's called JIT (Just in TIme) or LEAN manufacturing. Part of the LEAN concept is to dramatically cut inventory. In the trade, certain manufactruring is in a "make one, pass one mode". Zero inventory. So the benefit is redcuced inventory carrying costs and when a defective part is uncovered, you are not sitting on a 6 month supply of the same bad part. It works until you get those levels too low without fixing the root cause of why the parts are bad to begin with. They are puking out garbage so no, the root cause of poorly designed and manufactured products has not been solved. Get used to it.
@Scroll_Lock
@Scroll_Lock 7 дней назад
I'm still allowed to be pissed off about it. Especially when they provide a "warranty" they have no intention of honoring because their business model has near zero ability to do so. Carry little inventory, fine. It should be a return/refund rather than a warranty. Unfortunately it seems like only a never ending flood of lawsuits can cause a course correction.

it’s like Toyota brought out all these new vehicles but they all seem the same they just call each one a different name. None of these vehicles will ever see 200,000 trouble free miles.

Reason why Toyota is having so many problems with their vehicles because they use cheap parts and cheap labor to make the highest profit margin now Toyota engineer Bean counters are causing, catastrophic failure to their vehicles trying to save a buck or two but in reality, it’s not it’s causing the more money in the long run but Toyota is used to over engineer everything to dependable and reliable, long-term, but not now in another note, they can’t even build a reliable manual transmission now . Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge Taco fan. Had my 2nd Gen for 17 years and picked up my 3rd Gen in June 23. I just feel like the reviews from videos and articles about the 4th gen being great were done at the expense of trying to bury the 3rd Gen. Is the 3rd Gen perfect? Certainly not. Is any vehicle perfect? Certainly not, but I know this vehicle is going to far out live the current Generation. I am no where close to mechanically inclined, but I can understand the simple logic of more force blown through an engine = more wear and tear and I just felt burying the 3rd gen was their way of glossing over this simple and ultimately true fact. The fact that they are having so many issues with both the Tundra and the Taco makes me smirk a little every time I get behind the wheel of my 3rd Gen. I am just curious if anyone feels the same way about the media and influencers burying the 3rd gen to lift the obviously flawed new generation?

Toyota seems to sit on old tech for years and then tries to catch up all at once when they realize (OH) we’re a decade behind here, and then jumps off the cliff instead of gradually adding tech through the years. Now of course old tech is more reliable after all it’s been around for a while and it’s easy to just sit on it and enjoy the reliability it has, but It’s kind of like feast or famine, wait to long and eat too fast and you’re going to throw it up. Toyota Lean Manufacturing is actually a stand alone consulting business that comes into your company and tells you how to do it the Toyota way to make your company world class. We paid them at my employer to help establish a quality system. You drink the Kool Aid long enough and you forget the blocking and tackling that built the "old" quality standard. Don't know the details, but when you have this many issues you can usually find a purchasing manager cutting cost somewhere near the center of the issue. Simply don't believe the Japanese engineers are this incompetent. I think they are getting overruled by a bean counter before they can do the statistical based testing of a new part to prove that it's sound. All kidding aside, I would not be surprised to see a top manager take a leap from the top of builiing in Japan. They take pride in that culture and this is an enormous embarrassment.
