What a Bloody Good Horse standing still when the Pain is Intolerable and someone is touching it like that he or she is Lovely 🐎 They Do Need to see the Horse walk a little to Guage the Severity of what could possibly be causing the problem and How much it's hurting her/him it's unfortunate but necessary then he can Treat the problem Better. Horse Racing is in the Family so we see a lot of work on the Hooves and they are checked every day really but I don't know what could have caused this Poor Horse to have such an Abscess but on a farm there's plenty of bits left on ground and could easily be stood on by the Animals. Happy to see this Horse get some Relief 😊

Why make the poor horse walk so far when it's obviously in horrible pain? Could you not have done it where it was standing instead of forcing it to walk further into the field ?

Having watched hundreds of The Hoof GP videos this is nothing in comparison. However, I am impressed that the horse is standing so still, even though it must hurt terribly. I assume it was heavily sedated (looks like it) so it would be able to walk over to the farrier's tools and then endure the trimming itself without feeling any pain. In my eyes farriers are completely fearless and super strong and when I was a child I thought our farrier was the closest thing to Superman you could be.

A lot of comments are calling this animal abused with a neglectful owner. There are abusive owners but this horse looks great and unafraid of the strange humans. Abscesses start from a huge number of things. Take a little time and look it up. Horses are prey animals. That means that their survival depends on keeping up with the herd. They hide the problem until they can’t. One of my horses had horrible feet and constantly had tiny abscesses on her coronary band. She was so used to it that she never got lame from them. For weeks on end I’d have to clean the sites and disinfect them. The farrier kept custom shoes on her through 9 years of retirement. Over the 14 years we had her until she was put down at 29, we spent so much on her feet that we could have bought a car. We did everything right. It was her feet. Years ago my thumbnail started hurting horribly. There was a tiny white dot visible. I drilled a tiny hole in my nail and drained the pus. The pain immediately stopped and the nail grew out. It was SO TINY, and I have no idea how it happened. Nonetheless it hurt a ridiculous amount. A hoof is like that. Something gets started and the pus has nowhere to go.
@Dragonbleps
@Dragonbleps 8 месяцев назад
Agreed. Some people jump the gun and assume that if any animal is ever hurt or ill it's because someone was neglectful/abusive and that's just neither true nor fair. Accidents happen, and problems can be missed, and animals can hide pain until they can't anymore and it's gotten bad by then. Sometimes it's not anyone's fault. Most of the times things just happen.

As a child I got a really bad splinter in my hand, it got very infected very quickly (3 days or so). Really gross and nasty. My mum didn't see it until it was the absolute worst. I often imagine if the outrage would be similar: "I don't know why someone didn't just come and take that child away. It was obviously being neglected. The parent should know how to handle it themselves! They should be inspecting their child's hands and feet every single day! Absolutely appalling" Stuff happens. It's not always neglectful or malicious

People are asking why they moved the horse when it was so painful. It looks like they were transferring the horse from a large pasture with other animals to a more enclosed space. The horse is obviously loved because it made no attempts to be aggressive.

I have honestly never seen a comment section with so many misinformed statements in my many years on RU-vid. Instead of making outlandish statements, educate yourselves on actual equine husbandry, or ask a question. I just hope that the majority of people in this comment section do not own horses, because the lack of knowledge makes me fear for any horse owned by people making these comments. Hoof health is the first thing any horse owner should know about. No hoof no horse.

For the critics, animals have such big hearts they will push on after their body breaks down, and will to live is just that prevalent. Abscesses can develop very quickly. Horses walk over 25 miles/day just grazing. An abscess can develop and get infected within HOURS. Why didn't the horse get treated faster? Maybe the farrier wasn't available...Maybe the owner had to wait for their paycheck, or the owner wasn't available, because they were at work. Maybe this was the first sign that something was wrong with the horse.

Sometimes the Farrier Needs to See Exactly How the Horse is limping as horrible as that is for the Horse it may be Necessary for the Farrier to Guage his First Step in Treatment. I had to make a Horse walk a fair Distance with a Broken Leg to get her where she could be Cared for and Vet could take Xray She did a very fast walk on 3 legs saw Vet and I put her in a Stall for 8 to 10 mths of Special Treatment and now She's enjoying her life in the paddock with a Hald Blind Horse both of whom I rescued and saved from Death (it's a Cold Hearted Business Racing Horse's 🐎) but I've given them Many Years to enjoy Freedom. It's also a Complicated business and Farriers have to Judge what's going on not just Pick up a Hoof and go Hell for Leather at the Wrong Spot. 😮😢😊
