I can only imagine the relief this horse felt after treatment. Yes it's tender and sore till it heals further but when the animal realises the man is tending to his decaying hoof , you can see the animal relaxing into the treatment. The relief it feels must be immense. Thank you for all you are doing to alleviate the suffering of this horse.
@@silverforest4682They probably can't really wrap the hooves like they can with cows because it'd mess with their gait, cows have 2 toes so they can usually put their weight on the unaffected one. Idk about salicylic acid for dermatitis, but they do use iodine on horses
I bet that horses hoof feels alot better after releasing all that pressure!!! What a pretty black horse! You all work so hard for the animals! Its beautiful
Absolutely grand to see this successful treatment, real credit to you skilled men who treat these horses, well done! And much appreciate. I often wonder if the horses appreciate their problems being solved by humans?
Soaking with epsom salt and betadine then dry and wrap to keep clean is what my vet recommends . Never saw so much drainage from an abcess. I can imagine the relief that horse felt.
Thank you so much for translating your videos into English. I have been a follower for a long time never understanding you but always enjoy your videos. So happy to see how good this horse is doing now. Great work and I love what you do for all the horses ❤
You and your team take such good care of this horse. When the opening was made and that infection burst out, that would be so much relief felt by the horse. It was interesting was seeing the flies came right away when the lancing was done. Thank you for helping this horse.
Wow, so amazing how the horse was helped patiently and diligently by this fine gentleman! Thank you Sir very much! God bless you for all your kindness even to horses relieving them from misery. More power .
That is a hard job....those guys have unhidden strength and stamina. Anybody that is a gym rat and never had a manual labor job should experience at least one. I remember as a kid I watched an old timer shoe one my Grandadd's horses. Sweat was dripping off of him but he got the job done....tough people
I could not believe the pus that came put of his hoofs! The flys were getting on my nerves, though. So glad that he was taken care of! I love horses! ❤🐎❤
We had a pony who had an abscess after laminitis, it was a wet winter, so he was kept in, with a boot and poultice, keeping it clean in a muddy field would have been awful. Blacksmiths are the best people!
Abscesses form quite fast and at first there are no physical signs.. that's why you usual would tend to such matters based on the body language of the animal
Absolutely huge relief for the poor horse!! He’s an experienced fierier, but usually they wrap with different things to kill the bacteria that’s causing the infection in the first place!! I need that file he has for my nails!!💅🏻 😮
As soon as that abscess opened, the flies just descended in a cloud. Poor thing. Just releasing that pressure must have been such a relief 😮💨 seeing them run together was nice! Thats all they really want, open space to run, no pain and lots of grass and hay. And maybe sneak an apple here and there lol😉
Nah. I had one boy that was high strung, fearful, anxious, etc - he didn't kick. Usually what you'll see is them pulling their leg away, not kicking. If kicking is a legitimate concern, you can sedate the horse with ace, give them a bit of Bute (which I'm certain this horse had for that abcess), and the horse would be relaxed and out of pain.
You obviously have never been around or owned horses. Even a wild horse knows when its being helped by a trained individual. In trained hands most horses wont kick when handled properly. Facts!
We call it hoof trimming. I like your term, “ hoofing”. Daily hoof cleaning and bedding on clean ground free of manure and nail, can help prevent a hoof abscess.
Hot salt water poultice is my fix. Works quickly, relieves the pain and you are not left with a gaping hole in the hoof that will end up packed with debris and risk more trouble.
Trimming is the term used in the U.S. A schedule of every 5-8 weeks is normal during the spring, summer and fall and more like 8 -9 weeks during the cold winter months in the midwest of the US.
They must’ve seen the horse limping why did they let it get this bad, maggots and purulent drainage come on . I guess when it’s not you that’s hurting, felt so bad for the horse. This horse is beautiful I love horses.❤
What I would've done after I thought I'd drained all the puss, would've been to have applied a hot bread poultice on it, in a bandage of course, that would stay on til the next day, when it would be changed again. After that, the next gauze bandage would've been soaked in tea tree oil to disinfect it. That too, would've been done twice. Hopefully, after hoofing her, that would eliminate the rest of the toxins and the abscess. That poor mare. But the trick is to keep that hoof insulated from the bacteria-laden ground in a tea tree infused, antiseptic bandage until it's properly healed.
I have owned horses and if you have them long enough you will most likely have this problem and at the first sign of a horse favoring a leg please do the animal a HUGE favor and take care of the problem if you are capable and if not pay someone that does it for a living because one can only imagine the relief when an abscess is drained and cared for properly . Thanks !
