Went out to hit up front under the light house during a July North East wind which in July resulted in making Montauk look like an October day. Caught one big bluefish and a bass around 20-25lbs then stopped filming and continued fishing into dark hooking into two bass over 30lbs that broke me off in the wash so I could not catch those fish on camera.

Great vid, awesome bass! About incoming/outgoing....for example, if high tide is 12pm, when does the outgoing start and how long does it last? Thanks!
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 8 лет назад
It usually all depends on the moon and the wind but on an average day you probably have anywhere from 30-45 minutes even an hour of slack water roughly.

What type of waders and korkers do you recommend? I've never really fished on the rocks in Montauk and I'm not to sure what to use.
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 7 лет назад
I really don't fish with Waders so I dont really have a recommendation but Castrax, Rocktrax, or Rocktrax Plus Korkers I would recommend.

Bunker is key right now. If you find them than the stripers aren't far away :). My buddy and I were snag and dropping them in CT from my boat recently. He lost his snag hook and tossed on a bucktail and rind and was smoking me. I couldn't believe it. Good job kid!!

Just wondering planning a gator blue fishing trip for me and some buddies when would you suggest would be the best time?
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 8 лет назад
The best time for big blues from the surf would be in the summer during an outgoing tide north wind on say the north side prob False Bar. Or even Shagwong pt. June was insane for big blues and it kinda just comes and goes a few days it's hot a few days it's not.

Its called Montauk on the very end of the south fork of long island, known as the surf casting capital of the world. Glad to hear you subscribed thanks and good luck fishing!

Really good. Congrats. Fish on. 2 oz buck tail. It's so deep or you make a fast retrieve? Thanks
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 8 лет назад
I just use the weight for distance and so it holds in the current and wind. If you use a light bucktail you will lack distance and if there is a strong head wind you will lack distance and your bucktail will be holding really shallow on the retrieve.

I ran down to turtle cove actually because they were blitzing on bunker there but the footage was poor so I didn't show it. They were just out of reach of my pencil.

@Lukas_BarschTotal
@Lukas_BarschTotal 8 лет назад
yea in freshwater we got pikes up to 140 cm, catfish up to 250 cm and zander (they are like walleyes) up to maybe 110 cm but they are very very hard to catch.. but i wish we had the largemouths in our lakes ;( that would be much more fun. :D The Sea Bass isn't everywhere... but i saw some in croatia in my holidays ... This year i hope i'll get some of them ;P Thanks for your answer m8 !

ahh dam sorry to hear that i grew up in Jersey and usually some of the jetties from sandy hook to Manasquan along the beaches hold summer bass early in the morning i always would fare pretty well or during a storm. You just have to fish small stuff in order to catch.
@michissa105
@michissa105 8 лет назад
That would be a go to pattern in summer, but unfortunately most of the jetties in "jetty country" have been removed or covered in sand for Sandy Replenishment. Whole ecosystems detroyed.
@RH421939
@RH421939 8 лет назад
FishAholic Fishing I fish mostly the Manasquan river and pt. pleasant canal and another problem is the water is just not cleaning up 1 ft visibility hopefully it turns around soon

How long have you had that VS250? Have you had any issues with it? Is it heavy? After fishing it all day, does your arm get tired? I've seen a lot of your fishing video and it's got me interested in getting one those VS reel. 😁 btw, awesome video.
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 8 лет назад
Ive had it for quit awhile and i would not fish the surf with out it. weight of a reel is usually irrelevant because every reel has a different weight and i fish with lots of different reels! so it just your ability to adapt, VSs arent heavy but they might be heavier then say a penn battle, or shimano sargosa but after awhile you wont notice any difference.

@kulkitty5014

What lb braid and do you use a leader or straight braid
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 8 лет назад
I was fishing with 40lb PPro braid on this day and a 40lb Blue Label Seaguar Fluoro Leader. Links in the description. I was way under though what i should been using i should of had 50-60lb pp braid, and 60lb Seaguar fluoro leader. I usually tie direct but on this day again i should have been using a barrel swivel to fish in these rough conditions and i probably would of landed one of the 30lb bass i had on.

Dude whats the deal with the golf glove in all your vids... I mean cmon
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 8 лет назад
There batting gloves but yeah it protects my hands, from fish and from line. I work on a boat out here and I wear gloves for the same reason. You get a bad cut from fishing line? Then go fishing so much your hands are always wet and that cut doesn't heal for like a month and half I try and prevent that.
