Theo and Bee gave up their busy city lifestyles in 2014 to explore alternative living, and have lived in vans and boats since then without looking back! Along with their cat Ginjey Bear they have been driving around the world in their self converted Sprinter van. However, when the global pandemic hit they began converting their abandoned stone barn in Central Portugal to turn into a wonderful tiny stone cottage. Along the way, they have rescued a playful cat called Furrnando and have a wonderful flock of Chickens!

Look I said a long time ago Bee needs a full hysterectomy,hormones,and Prozac. Hardest decision I’ve ever made but saved my life. Don’t know if that is what she is doing but you both will start a new life/Love when it’s done. I suffered till I was 50 because I wanted children so bad. I am 56 now and so freakin happy with my life now.❤to you both and she may say she doesn’t want you around during this but she needs you more than ever!

Theo, we had similar erosion problems on the farm and what we did was to take tips from beavers building dams. A few solid logs cut from your fallen trees diagonally across those erosion pits and on the inside upstream we took old farm tires that we filled with rock and sand every 10 meters. This caused the sand buildup in each of the dams to naturally replace the lost soil as well as slowing down the water flow. Within two years none of the tire walls were visible any more and half of the depth of the trenches were filled. The steeper the flow, the closer the dams

Your plan dealing with erosion as a priority is an excellent idea. Good you got rid of those nasty hornets. They can hurt your animals also in a bunch, when they are angry or disturbed. Let the pros do it for sure. You and Bee have done a wonderful job resurrecting Miracle Mountain. It is hard work, but I can imagine ever so satisfying. The beauty of it all is that, you are your own boss and what gets done gets done. There is always tomorrow and you do not have to answer to any one. I pray all goes well with Bee and her surgery. I am licensed councilor in the US. I tell my clients that are having surgery to take time off before and after due to having to recover from all of it. The first is that when your doing all this you worry and are scared. SUrgery is an invasive thing being done to your body even if it needs doing. I know you take such good care of Bee and she of you. you both need to take a break from everything but keep busy. I love see you both and miss your videos terribly it helps me too be able to see that you guys are making this work and are trying to be happy. Just know that the people that care about you would never attack or say nasty things. Love you guys bunches. be careful too

Errosion solutions: Construct waddies (small rock walls) in the stream with rocks in the area and jamb in timber branches/ trunks behind. In a rain event the silt will collect behind the waddies but the water will filter through. Plant willows but coppice them for animal fodder and fire wood.

Take your time , Theo. Checking in with us occasionally is generous of you. We'll be watching. And can't wait until Bee is back with her cheerful demeanor. It's ironic that she helps so many of us with smiles, laughter, her relationships with the animals, etc. all while she's having tough times herself. Plant native grass and wildflowers on the slopes to help stop the erosion because those will grow faster and develop roots faster to hold the soil. After owning a home in the mountains, I learned that you can't really stop the water on the steep inclines but you can slow it down and do some diversions like you did with the holding pond. We created a few culverts to divert water sideways instead of it all going straight down. My neighbor, who has his own excavating equipment and more land to work with, created a series of waterfalls with large boulders and holding ponds. Each pond fed the next waterfall. It's beautiful to look at and listen to. After seeing a few RU-vid videos, he's planning on building his own water powered electric generator. Ignore the haters. People who have no empathy for others, are not worth losing sleep over. I wish you both the best and hope Bea has a fast recovery. Hang in there.

Warmest thoughts for Bee as she prepares and then undergoes her surgery. ❤❤❤Your critters and your beautiful property will keep you occupied, and before you know it Bee will be back home, good as new, to admire all your handiwork. If you don't feel the urge to film long videos, perhaps posting an occasional compilation of short 'diary entries' will serve to catch us up when you're too busy to devote much time to it. It will also as a precious record of your accomplishments to share with Bee, and reassure her that you're not pining away. There will always be trolls who seize upon any excuse to be unpleasant, so you are wise to ignore them, block them, do whatever you need to do for your personal equilibrium.

The roots will bind the soil together, but also you need leaves to provide an interception for the rain, slowing the flow of water down onto the ground - so any trees will provide this. Depending on your soil type (and not sure how heat tolerant they are), but heathers would provide a 'Sponge' also. Hope Bea gets better soon.😁

Good for you Theo to take a break from making videos. A number of RU-vidrs that I've followed for years have taken a break and most of them now post one a week. You have a lot of work on your plate holding things down on the farm and it keeps your mind on the land while B. is away. Give my regards to B. I'm glad she's getting the help she needs. I would definitely contact a soil specialist regarding the erosion. Native plants are a great idea. As far as negative comments… let me at them! Grrrrrr.. there is absolutely no excuse for that.
