i miss the hoolihan and big chuck show and lil john. i was born in 66. i grew up watching them. seems its hard to find anything good that we grew up with still around anymore. i rememeber me and my girl friend at the time went to see them film on thursday for there friday night show and he took our pajamas and was going to be on with them at the end of the show but they had camera issues that night and didnt have time for us to go on with them. big church told us to come back with our pajamas
I agree that these two had a greater chemistry with the ol' Irish guy, the whimsical Hoolihan the Weather-Man but Big Chuck was the backbone of the show. "He always had a joke or a light up your smoke" as Joel sang it.
I thought MadTV started before the CBS/Fox swap in Cleveland - 1993 maybe. I think BC&LJ moved back to Fridays for a few years at the time of the Fox switch (after moving to Saturdays in the fall of 1988); I'm about 90% sure this show aired on Friday night.
As Lil' John noted at the start, this was the so-called "Midnight Express" because Fox's "Mad TV" bumped BC & LJ's start time on Saturday from 11:30pm to 12mid. There was zero Fox branding because GM Virgil Dominic, who had been at WJW since 1977, outright refused. Dominic said it would not become "Fox 8" as long as he was there, which proved to be the case - he left WJW a year later, just before Fox bought the station.
