Wow, I did not know this. I work in the trades also and regularly handle check or cash payments or tips, so I'm genuinely curious. Would it be respectful or rude to also accept the payment with two hands if offered to you (me) this way? I don't recall anyone ever offering a payment like that, but I could have just been unaware and not noticed. Side note, as a "white man in the USA" would it be considered kind or rude to verbally acknowledge this as a sign of respect?
@@jpjp3873 Im a carpenter who does sunroom conversions and builds and we get tipped nearly every job we work. Typically anywhere from $20-$100 per person. We work in crews of two. Just got $80 from the last homeowner. I live in a beach town so most of the homeowners are rich retirees.
I’m still trying to figure bugs out he’s a man of many talents jellies and jams cakes and concrete, he’s a badass hard worker with a soft side of puppies and jelly I love it
My grandfather was a concrete contractor. I remember going with him on the weekends and watching him interact with his guys. Never called them workers. “The guys.” You remind me a lot about him. You don’t need Darryl Jr. at all, yet he brings you joy and in that aspect, is worth having him beside you when you can. Not a lot of people will understand it. I do. My grandpa had a “Darryl Jr.” and he brought my grandpa joy and gave his guy a purpose. You get what you give. He always said it’s never bad to give up a little of whatever it is for a full heart. He was a great man. Sticks with me to this day and it’s good to see another owner live by those principles. Much respect, sir. I came across your channel and have been catching up for a few weeks now. Worth it. 👍🏼
@@johnvinyard641 you need to comment that question under the video. You put this under someone else's comment so Ryan won't see it lol just letting you know
It's crazy man. I don't do concrete, never have, never wanted to. Yet, I'm more obsessed with this channel about concrete than I am with my other subs.
During my family vacation your channel was automatically recommended by RU-vid no idea why. I don’t do concrete for a living or a hobby. Took a chance now I’m hooked, I’ve been catching up for the last month and a half. Any ways. you sir are a stand up guy, the way you treat your guys is awesome. that’s why they work hard for and with you. Bringing in your family making them part of not just your channel but your business is great! Keep up the good work and videos. You got a new subscriber.
Those farm boys got your whole crew working harder and being on time. Got to love how good work ethic spreads like a disease when its the norm on a worksite. Even had the customer working for a bit haha.
Been doing this 10 years an I’m the guy that every customer loves an talks to! I’m funny an easy to talk with an I’ve asked customers if they want to try stuff an never have I got a yes!!!!!!! Amazing!
Darrel has asked to cut the joints quite a bit lately. I would love to see him try. Also, I would like to see Eric sling concrete off a shovel Victory style! Maybe a training video/ skill development video with the crew? Great channel, great content. God bless!
The energy from the team on this pour is what its all about. All the way down to the editing in the beginning of the poor was incredible, and the home owner pushing the bull float. The energy from the meet up was very inspiring, I imagine everyone was a little more in sync than normal. Its very contagious and helps me stay more positive when encountering problems on the job site. Thank you for the videos keep them coming !
Ive done a lot of trades over the years had a lot of different employers you sir treat your guys with love its like you guys are brothers cooking burgers at the end of the week n a lil cash bonus the a whole week paid off that's awesome I've come to be a contractor and run my own business i look to your videos for inspiration because you do a have a solid crew you run and gives me a lot more confidence to hire people myself keep up the good work
Small cultural note, if someone from China hands you a check like he did, with two hands, it's custom to accept it with two hands, thumbs on top. He seemed like a super cool guy, so he wouldn't take offense, just something I learned from doing business with a Chinese factory.
Being a business owner myself that is too nice to my employees I am starting to notice you’re being alot more stern with everyone (*cough* Darryl) which is GOOD! Love from Australia boss man
I do the same thing. I don’t like to make it uncomfortable it doesn’t help that some of my workers are older than me but I’m terrible at being stern. I think it’s so perfect how Ryan does it
@@azr6917 cant be 50 no call no showing and the younger guys showing up ready to get to the money for the whole week. I like the Erick seems to me he's the Foreman of the crew even being younger, he has a good sense of what he's doing, good attitude and seems to be in almost video. Edit:meaning he shows up for work
Ryan, you motivate me to do better at my job and I really appreciate your hard work and dedication to RU-vid while you work your tail off everyday. Your wife is also a great role model as your number one supporter, thanks for sharing your life with us.
I love your customer service and re pore. You made his day letting him float it and, he will have that story as long as that concrete is there! Writing a check for this job... ouch - Taking a small part in the job and putting a smile on another s face... Priceless for you , your customer, and your entire crew! A pebble in a pond kind sir. Once again thank you Ryan. God is working through you. If I could afford $1,000, I would pay that to come be a part of this (I say this knowing you would put that $1000.00 to good use in helping others which would make me feel good).
Time to make some EAAAAAAASY MOOOOONEY. I'm off on the weekend but can't eat to jump back in Tuesday. Feels good to make money and help those who can't do the work themselves. Man, thus weekend was amazing weather perfect for working outside :((
I like how you take the time to engage with your clients Ryan. Most businesses would want to be left alone, but you want to interact and make them understand the process of how to make EASYYY MONEYY!! You're morals and values just makes you an amazing boss.
You are a good man Ryan. Giving the fellas a $100 on top of their check and a week off paid. On top of that you help out Eric with his business. Most employers would fire a guy for doing side jobs.
You really have a beautiful family Ryan. I'm 25 and am really striving to have a great split from work ethic and family time, especially since ive got a little one on the way due in late October.
I'm a drywall finisher, have been for a long time now but when I watch your videos Ryan I can't figure out or how to explain it but you get me ready to go pour some concrete lol I think it's the good vibes you put out victory style!! Really enjoy what you, your family and crew do it's cool and keep up all the great vibes and hard work! It's much appreciated and inspiring!
Good morning Ryan and the crew!! God bless you all. Ryan you are a great man, great boss, great father, great husband, all in all a great peraon!! Such an honor to watch your RU-vid channel! Keep being great sir 🙏
it nice to see your getting some extra help /life is a little less stressful with extra reliable help/its interesting to watch your channel and business grow/i am also self employed and i am learning how to better deal with employees watching how you do it with a good attitude
Dude I’d love to come to work for a day with you guys 👌🏼 Im a union operator and do lawn and landscaping on the side but y’all make concrete look fun and easy! Keep it up!
I just love it when people with no construction experience let everyone know how it is or how it should be. I learn so much. Hope everyone having a great Sunday !
15:12 Ryan that was so perfect . flicks it in every single holes i see . I remember you taught that to Eric like 10-15videos ago and he still scared to do it which is very understandable haha
Hi I'm Ray from the UK but living in Spain now retired, I really love your show brings. Back memories when I was young man you are a great boss good men working for you love the banter between your guys 😅 only thing is keep your car clean inside have a great life 😊😊 Ray from Spain
another great video. Love watching you guys pour concrete, probably one of the traits I would love to try out one day lol you guys have such a great chemistry as a crew wish there were more people that enjoy what they do and not just go to get pay.
Love watching you guys the mixture of your crew makes it better and have to say your a caring awesome boss and love the way you are with your daughters. Wish u the best
You guys should put some aluminum sheet pans in the truck. The cooked burgers were put in the same dish that had the raw burgers (unless it was washed off camera)- probably going to be fine but you don’t want the whole crew in the gas station bathroom with Eric and Francisco! -From the food police, a sub-division of the wire mesh police.
Started watching your vids Ryan. Coming from a business point. How admiring you are as a business person to your employees. There are days that are ups and downs but we pull thru. You have such good workers behind you. Always good to take care our employees for the hard work they pull for the company. Funny to see Daryl Jr and Sr go at it, lol..... Wish you, your employees, and business to be great success in life. 💪 💪
The way you do lunch is awesome! I really like how everyone contributes and it’s not just someone having their 5 star meal and somebody else having their microwave pizza, at least sometimes
That owner is so polite, you were supposed to take that check with two hands from him and bow a little bit. That's why he handed it to you with 2 hands and bowed it's polite
When my daughter got married I was just really joyful & heartbroken? Hard to explain! However ; I scared every young man away! And the one that hacked it (he had to come ask for her hand in marriage !) he is an absolute blessing! Loves God, loves his Church, a blessing! You hv done a great job Ryan you will be blessed with tons of grand kids! A full quiver!
Yup they growup and have to live their lives. Went through the same thing. You hope you brought them up right. You can spoil the grandkids and send them home without being guilty.
you should do an award ceremony for the guys at the end of the concrete season. who wasted the most money with the bathroom breaks and napping award. anything else funny with you guys!
Ryan, you run a good ship. And you're the kind of guy that anyone would want to work for. I hope your guys realize that and don't no call, no show. Keep up the great videos. I enjoy watching. And awesome gesture for the weeks pay. 🙂🙂🙂
Really enjoy your videos. I did this flat work for 8 years in Colorado. Laid down a lot of mud. The motto is ( where's the mud ). Pouring more than a 100 miles of trails 10 ft wide 6 inches thick. From town to town. Even in the mountain towns.
Towards the end of the video (35:16ish)... I noticed at the end of the driveway right next to the street, left hand side, there's a big chunk of concrete missing out of the side wall. Is that a big deal or no? Wondering if that missing chunk will end up leading to cracking etc if it isn't filled to support the weight of cars coming and going over the slab. Just curious. Job came out amazing.
To me that looks like a pretty shallow dip, it'll be filled in by the compacted dirt that'll come around the driveway when it's done and it won't cause any major problems, things that like happens a lot and it's almost unavoidable because of how Concrete is made and how it functions.
@@nateg4236 Yeah i've heard crazy things here in NY people pouring 10-12 inch driveways. I think its up to the contractor and how much money they want to milk out of the customer for material and labor. Ryan is a fair dude and it's probably how he's able to keep his cost down. If you execute the application perfectly it holds up over time.
Another well done Vlog - Thank you Ryan and the girls too! Its always nice to wake up and watch your positively motivated vlogs! Thank you and keep going strong!
Darly and his so much funny they put smile on my face bugs and the rest of CREW are awesome job done very greatly influenced and appreciated great content 👏 thumbs 👍
Good Morning to you also. Love your videos. Love the music. Love watching concrete get poured and turned into permanent art. I'd come for the Victory Experience. I don't have 1k, but I'm an easy person to please. I'm simple. I work. I eat. I happy. Working for food is the best thing ever. Money is good too, but my stomach is my heart.
Ryan I will say it again the one liners that come out of your mouth so effortlessly are as good as a stand up comedian ,love your videos ,if concrete don't work out you have a job for sure, see what I did there!!!! Comedy team !!!!
