Started with a long slow tow (turns out downwind) then found one of the strongest, yet smoothest thermals after releasing. Kept waiting for it to get nasty but never did. Fast climb to 12,600'!!! As the day went on, conditions slowed down. Beautiful sky to enjoy. Wind picked up for landing, thought it was a big cycle that would stop, never did I landed short :-(
Really nice 150 mile FAI. Thanks for the tow!!!!

Auh, the days of platform towing. Your flight brought back some fond memories of our tow road here in Oklahoma. Seeing those dust devils from the air was very nice as well. Thanks for bringing us along with you on this flight!

Being an old geography buff and having never visited the Grand Coulee region, it was wonderful to see it from the air and track your progress on google earth. This makes one appreciate how far and fast migrating birds can fly, also the dust devil views were great. Thanks so much for posting.

I am glad to share the experience. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. Yes, birds are very incredible, so much more efficient than we are. And the dust devils out there are truly amazing. The dust is very fine particles, so it's picked up very easily by the thermals..... and my socks LOL

Hell Ya! Well done! I remember climbing to 10,000 and wasn’t prepared/dressed for it. Just about froze. After 2 hours it took me 1 hour to get down. The lift was everywhere.

Thanks! That's always how it is, fight to get up, then when you want down, the lift is abundant! An under dressed pilot will always get the highest :-)

No better way to start my day than watching an awesome video of yours with my morning coffee. At first I thought this was a 150km flight till I realized it was miles ( 241.5 km ) Loved the part with you and the sailplane. Spring won't come soon enough !

I like the ones where you have to brush your teeth after climbout from all the dust in the thermal :--) Praise to the great vacuum in the sky.

I know what you mean, you land and someone asks you if you fell in a mud puddle 😁

Sweet! 13 knot thermal is incredible. You can really core the thermal in your hang glider!

It was a really nice thermal. Kept waiting for it to get nasty never did. Might have made me a bit more nervous then if I did get some rowdy

At 6:30, are you turning the opposite direction of the sailplane? Isn't that a HUGE "no-no"?
@MikeBomstad

We were not in the same thermal. It was all over the place. If we were, once I saw them, I would have roll reversed, assuming they were there first. I had been climbing for awhile before I saw it.

It's in the US near Mansfield Washington. There's a link to the flight track log in the video description.

Honestly, when I see lift like that I really have to wonder what the heck you would do in a paraglider. I have been in strong lift and like most things, until you have experienced it you're likely not aware of just how strong it is.

Hang on! The really good pilots make it look easy. (I would need new underwear!) Yep! We dont know what we dont know until we find out. Thanks for the comment.
